Chapter 186: Oh, Master. Are You Pretending to Be Weak Again?
An Yimin’s mood darkened a little.
He thought that perhaps Yu Yu wanted to keep a distance from him after having returned to the Jiang family.
This should be normal. After all, she has already returned to the Jiang family and her surname was now Jiang. She had nothing to do with them.
He could understand why Yu Yu did this.
Jiang Yu took the menu but she didn’t have any other thoughts. Just as she was about to pa.s.s it to Jiang Chenglang and the others to look at it again, she heard Feng Linbai say, “Yu’er, my eyes aren’t very good. Can you help me order another dish that you like?”
!!He Xiulan, who just happened to push open the door and step in, heard this.
He wanted to whistle.
Oh, Master. Are you pretending to be weak again?
He didn’t slow his footsteps. He walked directly to the front of the group and glanced around. After everyone had noticed him, he said in a jovial tone, “I’m sorry for not welcoming you personally. Why don’t we… share a table and have a meal together?”
Jiang Yu held her chin. This man again?
Today though, he has finally stopped wearing the uniform of a waiter.
Jiang Chenglang said in surprise, “President He, why are you here?”
He knew of He Xiulan.
To an outsider, this person looked frivolous, always having a smile on his face but if you thought that he was a good-for-nothing, you would be gravely mistaken.
A few years ago, Cixi Restaurant had been founded in Beijing. At first, no one thought much of it but slowly, its reputation grew, like a rolling s...o...b..ll. It grew bigger and bigger, developed into a better and better restaurant. Gradually, it became the first choice of the upper-cla.s.s circles.
Many people came here to meet guests or discuss business. He Xiulan had made a lot of connections because of this.
It was not that no one had ever thought of annexing Cixi Restaurant or tried to crush it but whenever they did, they always ended up in a broken state.
Therefore, everyone knew that there was a hugely powerful force behind the Cixi Restaurant. However, no one knew who the person behind it was.
That was because, on the surface, during any occasion, it was He Xiulan who was always present. However, He Xiulan had also repeatedly said in public that he was not the owner of Cixi Restaurant, but just a stand-in.
He claimed that he was just an errand boy, but who dared to really look down on him?
After all, he was the one who dealt with all the comings and goings of Cixi Restaurant. Jiang Chenglang had been to Cixi Restaurant a few times but has not had any good opportunities to meet He Xiulan. However, he has never seen He Xiulan voluntarily come out and fight for a seat at a table.
Jiang Chenglang didn’t know what He Xiulan was up to. However, He Xiulan had already asked someone to bring an extra stool as he walked in.
After announcing himself, he sat down without waiting for their reply.
Jiang Chenglang: “…”
This was obviously something that he had decided all by himself. He was just asking for their opinion, right?
He actually did not care for their answers.
Jiang Chenglang pursed his lips.
He knew that He Xiulan’s way of doing things had always been like this. He was not one to walk the normal path, but this was a family gathering. Why was He Xiulan here?
Before he could say anything, Jiang Yu looked up and asked, “Are you here to eat for free?”
He Xiulan smiled. “Of course not. I’ll pay for it.”
“Okay.”
Jiang Yu nodded, indicating that she understood. She turned to An Yimin and said, “Someone is paying for today’s meal. Do you have anything else you want to order? Go ahead, order a few more dishes.”
He Xiulan: ???
Wait, when did he say that?
Jiang Yu seemed to have sensed something. She turned her head and said in a disdainful tone, “Don’t tell me you can’t even bear to part with this small amount of money?”
