Chapter 1236: Chapter 1236: Is the Rumor True?
“First, take Su Xiaoya inside to rest.”
Songshan nodded and reached out his hand toward Xiaoya, “Xiaoya, come with Uncle inside to play. Your uncle and your mother still have things to discuss.”
“Okay!”
Su Xiaoya knew that the adults needed to talk, turned her head toward Song Jingxian with a triumphant gesture, and happily hopped along following Songshan.
Song Jingxian was moved and rea.s.sured.
“Xiaoya is very smart.” Song Jinyan could clearly see through Xiaoya and Song Jingxian’s intentions, yet he did not reject them at all. Perhaps it was simply that he found someone agreeable and could therefore tolerate some small schemes. Besides, Jing Xian received far less attention in this family than Song Zishan did.
“Big brother, I’ve heard the rumors outside.” Song Jingxian thought it over, knowing that Song Jinyan was not someone who dawdled, and that his time was precious. She had already delayed him quite a bit because of Xiaoya, so she decided to get straight to the point.
“Are the rumors true?”
“Seeing as you’re part of the Song family, you have the right to know.” Song Jinyan lit a cigarette for himself, smoking elegantly and with restraint, radiating a unique charm.
He also considerately positioned himself downwind so that the smoke would not drift toward Song Jingxian.
“I’ve already arranged for Songshan to send you a formal announcement later.”
Song Jingxian had not expected her cousin to be so formal and covered her mouth in shock, “Does that mean Second Uncle and Zishan will no longer be related to our family?”
Song Jinyan frowned slightly, “Second Uncle?”
Song Jingxian was about to speak when Songshan, who had taken Xiaoya inside, returned, accompanied by someone. He approached and relayed in a low voice what Weng Quan had revealed.
Expecting Song Jinyan to be angry, she was surprised to hear him only scoff and say, “So that’s how it is, but it doesn’t matter. In truth, I didn’t want to keep the secret for Song Jiaming either. It was just the last request of grandfather that I truly could not refuse. Now that Weng Quan knows the truth and has spoken out, grandfather can’t blame me.”
Song Jingxian’s eyes widened as she listened.
She could never have imagined that Second Uncle, the most favored in the family, was not the biological son.
Then who is the biological son? The Song family must have a true second-born son. If Song Jiaming isn’t the biological son, then where is the real one?
The more Song Jingxian thought, the more questions arose, and her worries multiplied. At the same time, she grew more impressed with her cousin. It seemed that only he had the courage and capability to deal with such matters. She herself would never dare challenge Old Master Xu’s authority.
“It seems I did not consider it thoroughly, and it’s no wonder Weng Quan is angry. If it were only made known to others that Song Zishan isn’t the biological child, Weng Quan would inevitably be implicated.”
Song Jinyan mocked himself with a twisted smile though his expression did not show the slightest hint of approachability.
Songshan followed with a low voice, “Also, Song Zishan struck Professor Sun who guards the gate at Weng Quan’s place, breaking two of the elderly man’s ribs. The authorities have already taken him to the police station. Professor Sun’s status is no ordinary one, and his students certainly won’t let it pa.s.s easily.”
Song Jingxian had also heard about it and wasn’t surprised in the least.
Truthfully, she understood Song Zishan’s personality better than anyone and had secretly been relieved that Lu Jianan had been there to counsel her. Otherwise, Song Zishan might have caused even greater trouble a long time ago.
“Facing prison time?” Song Jinyan let out a light laugh.
“Yes!” Songshan nodded gravely.
After all, she was once the Song family’s little princess. Even though she no longer held that t.i.tle, she remained the apple of Old Master Xu Song’s eye. Knowing his reaction, the eldest would likely find himself in a difficult position caught in the middle.
