As the doctor’s hand was seized, the onlookers rushed to a.s.sist.
However, Xia Wan swiftly reached Old Zhao’s side. She tilted his head to the side, used her fingers to pry open his foaming mouth, and began to clean it.
One person halted in shock, frowning at Xia Wan’s actions, while another nearly gagged at the sight.
Old Zhao clenched his teeth, and in the process of cleaning, Xia Wan’s hand was scratched by his teeth, drawing blood.
Yan Han’s heart ached when he witnessed this. He wanted to intervene but recognized that she was saving a life.
“Allow me to help.” Xia Chen stepped forward, intending to take over Xia Wan’s task.
He didn’t understand why, but he didn’t want to see Xia Wan get hurt.
“Don’t concern yourself with me. Unfasten his clothes.”
“Show me his chest area and unfasten his belt.”
Xia Chen didn’t hesitate and promptly started unb.u.t.toning Old Zhao’s clothes.
Upon observing that Old Zhao was on the brink of being stripped naked in public, the staff from the mental hospital reacted again. “This isn’t allowed! You’re… outraging his modesty!”
Xia Wan glared at the person who had spoken. “Do you want him to live or not?”
The individual was rendered speechless by Xia Wan’s stern gaze.
Xia Chen adeptly unb.u.t.toned Old Zhao’s attire, while Xia Wan also finished cleaning his mouth.
Nonetheless, Old Zhao’s body continued to twitch uncontrollably, signaling no improvement.
“Look, this isn’t working! Your commotion is tormenting Old Zhao!” The doctor interjected once more. “Don’t grip my wrist so tightly; it hurts!”
“Let me remind you, I’m Doctor Chen from the town! If you injure my wrist, you’ll see who’ll administer your injections in the future when you’re sick!” The doctor maintained a smug expression while delivering his threat.
Xia Wan paid him no mind. With Xia Feng restraining him, there was little he could do.
After ensuring there were no foreign objects in Old Zhao’s mouth, Xia Wan retrieved a small wallet from her pocket and placed it in his mouth. She then pressed her hand to Old Zhao’s wrist and promptly withdrew it.
“As expected!” Xia Wan declared, removing a small pouch containing several silver needles.
Before anyone could react, Xia Wan had already inserted the silver needles into
Old Zhao’s Zhongchong and Shaochong acupoints.
She then pulled off Old Zhao’s socks and conducted acupuncture on the Taichong acupoint, all under the watchful eyes of the spectators.
The last few needles were inserted into Dazhui, Houxi, and Shuigou.
Just as everyone was amazed by Xia Wan’s swift acupuncture technique, the silver needle in her hand inadvertently pierced Old Zhao’s Baihui acupoint.
Although the doctor’s medical skills weren’t top-notch, he understood where the human body’s vulnerable points were.
Seeing Xia Wan apply acupuncture in that location, he immediately shrieked, “You’ve killed him! You’ll kill him! Good heavens! Call the police! Call the police!”
A barrage of shrill cries caused Xia Wan’s pent-up emotions to explode.
“Shut up! If you’re capable, come and a.s.sist! If not, then keep your mouth shut!” Xia Wan didn’t even glance at the doctor, but her voice was resolute.
After Xia Wan inserted several needles, Old Zhao gradually began to settle down, his breathing becoming more steady.
Observing his improved condition, the others attempted to relocate Old Zhao.
Xia Wan reached out and restrained them. “Don’t touch him yet! Wait until he awakens! ”
The individuals, though uncertain, refrained from moving, listening to Xia Wan’s directions unquestioningly.
“Prepare a clean room and some hot water. Fetch some fever-reducing and wind-dispelling medicine,” Xia Wan instructed the staff standing there.
They exchanged bewildered glances but made no effort to act.
“Why aren’t you moving?” Xia Wan inquired with a furrowed brow.
Although Xia Wan’s tone was not loud, it exuded an undeniable authority.
Yet the few individuals appeared hesitant. “We’re here solely for employment.
We know nothing about fever-reducing and wind-dispelling medicine.”
“Exactly! This is a mental hospital, not a regular medical facility. How can we administer treatment?”
“I believe it would be better to transfer her to the newly established hospital in town. I heard it’s managed by a retired city doctor!”
The group relayed their opinions one after the other, deeming this as a viable solution.
Frustrated by their chatter, Xia Wan exclaimed, “If you wish for him to survive, stop the prattle! Otherwise, this person will remain here, and you’ll be collecting his lifeless body!”
Xia Wan’s words might have seemed hyperbolic, but as of now, Old Zhao had been rescued. With a bit more rest, his life should no longer be at risk. Nonetheless, their att.i.tudes left Xia Wan no choice but to direct an acerbic gaze at them..
