Chapter IBMLS Ch.124 Marks (2)
The smile on Xie Xuanji’s face twitched slightly.
Mu Mingtang focused on pa.s.sing food to Xie Xuanchen’s bowl, whatever she got for him, Xie Xuanchen ate. Xie Xuanji and Jiang Mingwei were forced to watch them for a long while, and they both felt frustrated about it.
The original plan was to just accompany them for breakfast, except for Xie Xuanchen, the others had already eaten their breakfast. Although Jiang Mingwei and Xie Xuanji had bowls in front of them, they basically didn’t touch them.
Xie Xuanchen stopped using his chopsticks after a few bites. Mu Mingtang frowned. Xie Xuanchen was eating way less than usual today. Are the dishes not to his liking today?
Mu Mingtang looked up and was about to ask which dish was not of his liking, but noticed Xie Xuanchen’s pale side profile and his thin and pale lips, Mu Mingtang fell silent.
Xie Xuanchen felt her gaze and looked down at her: “What’s wrong?”
Mu Mingtang swallowed down all her words, shook her head and said: “It’s nothing. Be careful. I’ll help you up.”
Xie Xuanji and Jiang Mingwei were just here to accompany them. When Xie Xuanchen put his chopsticks down, they too stopped, then stood up and moved to the outer hall.
After sitting down, Xie Xuanji asked about Xie Xuanchen’s health: “Second brother, are you getting better lately?”
Xie Xuanchen lowered his head, to cover up his cough. After the cough subsided, he looked up again. And this time, Xie Xuanchen’s voice sounded slightly hoa.r.s.e: “I’m okay.”
Xie Xuanji felt rather pitiful for him, Mu Mingtang had prepared so many dishes but Xie Xuanchen could only eat just a little bit. Xie Xuanji sighed and said with relief: “Just focus on recovering, my father and I will deal with the other affairs. As long as you recover, the throne and the crown prince t.i.tle will still belong to you.”
Jiang Mingwei glanced at Xie Xuanji in surprise, as if she didn’t expect Xie Xuanji to say this publicly. Jiang Mingwei has been told by Mrs. Jiang, knowing that this is part of the plan, but hearing Xie Xuanji with such a frank and honest tone, saying that the throne belongs to Xie Xuanchen, Jiang Mingwei trembled.
If the throne belongs to Xie Xuanchen, isn’t Mu Mingtang still the queen? Then all the effort and hards.h.i.+ps she had gone through for her past two lifetimes, for what?
Jiang Mingwei thought of this possibility, her limbs suddenly felt cold, and her heartbeat instantly became faster. Fortunately, Jiang Mingwei quickly recalled that Xie Xuanchen would not survive past this year, and he was about to die soon. Even if the emperor verbally agreed to this, Xie Xuanchen would not survive for it.
Jiang Mingwei’s thumping heartbeat slowly calmed down. That scared her. In her previous life, she didn’t know that Xie Xuanji was the male protagonist and let Mu Mingtang get the opportunity. In this life, she knew everything. How could she let Mu Mingtang win again? The queen of the Ye Dynasty would only be her, Jiang Mingwei.
Jiang Mingwei’s emotion slowly calmed, only to realize that she was drenched in cold sweat. At this time, Xie Xuanchen and Xie Xuanji were talking, Jiang Mingwei felt that no one was paying attention to her, so she secretly took her handkerchief and wiped away the sweat from the back of her neck.
After Xie Xuanji’s lengthy speech to express his att.i.tude and loyalty, Xie Xuanchen did not refute nor was he moved, he just suddenly coughed. Seeing as he coughed, Mu Mingtang hurriedly ordered the maid to get him a gla.s.s of warm water. In such a messy situation, Xie Xuanji’s words were swept under the rug.
Xie Xuanchen found that he really hated Xie Xuanji, no matter how he viewed him, he was not likeable at all. Xie Xuanchen didn’t even want to cooperate with his acting. After his somewhat fake coughing, he looked away, just in time to see Jiang Mingwei wiping away her sweat.
