Xie Xuanchen also leaned against the railing and looked at Mu Mingtang’s peacefully sleeping face. In fact, Xie Xuanchen had trouble falling asleep before Mu Mingtang came into his life, but after witnessing Mu Mingtang sleeping so comfortably and silently, Xie Xuanchen was actually able to sleep without any apparent cause. He felt at ease when Mu Mingtang was sleeping next to him.

He liked this person beside him so much that he wanted to merge her into his flesh and blood. He was willing to let go of the butcher’s knife for her, willing to tie himself again with shackles for her, and willing to seek power for her again.

Fortunately, this person was his wife, and they would be firmly bound together for the rest of their life. It would have been nice if he had gotten to know her earlier.

‘If I wish to establish a strong bond with her, I must constantly worry about the gains and losses of my actions, since I have no other options.’ Xie Xuanchen groaned while thinking.

The more Xie Xuanchen thought about it, the more tragic he felt. He stared at Mu Mingtang, and felt that the wine in her gla.s.s was better than his. He could still see the moist layer of fine wine on Mu Mingtang’s lips.

‘Taking advantage of someone who is sleeping is not gentlemanly,’ Xie Xuanchen reasoned to himself.

Then again, he was not a gentleman, so why should he care about such things? Xie Xuanchen became even more reluctant to move away his eyes from the breathtaking sight presented in front of him and kept his gaze on Mu Mingtang’s lips, eventually leaned over and covered those lips with his own.

Just as he tasted the sweetness, the kiss ended abruptly and Xie Xuanchen immediately sat up straight, resembling a pole, as though he had done something wrong. The smell of alcohol was definitely quite faint, but Xie Xuanchen felt as if he had drunk too much and felt dizzy all over.

A little intoxicated, but he knew clearly that he was not drunk at all.

For a while, Xie Xuanchen calmed down by leaning against the railing. The night wind was soft, and a faint fragrance drifted. After spending much time sitting, Xie Xuanchen eventually let out a satisfied sigh.

He stood up, picked Mu Mingtang up, stepped over the begonia petals which were covering the ground, and then took long strides towards their sleeping chamber. He was well aware of his own emotions as well as the fact that Mu Mingtang did not feel the same way about him.

The issue about children was not that urgent, rather, it was something that would happen sooner or later. He was more concerned about Mu Mingtang.

He had to find ways to change her feelings about him. Otherwise, she would really believe his earlier words that she was still young and was playing house with children, which means she would leave him anytime after she found someone else to fall in love with.
