Chapter IBMLS Ch.36 Awaken (4)
Xie Xuanji didn’t want to inquire about such trivial matters. As long as Mu Mingtang was brought into Qiyang Palace alive, their goal would have been achieved. As for what Mu Mingtang does after, the emperor didn’t care much about this.
Mu Mingtang only asked someone to head out of the manor to buy some nuts, it’s not a big deal. If it weren’t for the imperial housekeeper who presented something to Xie Xuanji, Xie Xuanji wouldn’t have come to see Mu Mingtang today.
He saw that Mu Mingtang was still confused, so he resisted his discomfort, took out something from his sleeve, and stretched out his hand in front of Mu Mingtang: “Then what’s with this?”
Mu Mingtang lowered her gaze and glanced. It was the jade hair pin that Mingtang used as a bribe. Sure enough, the guard p.a.w.ned the hair pin.
Mu Mingtang couldn’t directly stuff silver money to the guard, so she could only use jewelry to bribe the guards. She didn’t like these elegant and simple jewels anyway. Wouldn’t it be just nice to give it out as a favor, so she wouldn’t have to unwillingly give away her s.h.i.+ny gold hair pins.
This style was what Jiang Mingwei preferred. Jiang’s dowry naturally followed Jiang Mingwei’s preferences, so Mu Mingtang also had plenty of simple and elegant jewels. Mu Mingtang withdrew her gaze after only a glance, and said, “Yes, it’s mine. It’s my choice on how I use my dowry. Prince Jin, do you even need to involve yourself in this?”
Xie Xuanji held back his anger and said, “Even if you’re angry, you shouldn’t trample on your dowry this way. You used to really like this hair pin, but now, in exchange for these snacks, you gave it away so cheaply?”
Mu Mingtang was baffled: “I don’t like it, can’t I just sell it for food?”
“How can you be so stubborn.” Xie Xuanji looked at Mu Mingtang, he wanted to say something but he decided not to, his gaze was heavy, “After you married him, you were this upset. It’s just some snacks, and you sold your dowry for this.”
“I really don’t like it!” Mu Mingtang felt wronged. “I said I don’t like it. If it wasn’t for the detailed craftsmans.h.i.+p, I wanted to even throw it away. I have already made the best use of it by exchanging it for something to eat. Besides, you married me to your brother. Aren’t you clear of why can’t I head out?”
Xie Xuanji still didn’t believe her. He sighed and said, “You really are still complaining about me. The Jin Manor is right next to the Qiyang Manor, and you can enter the Jin Manor’s garden from the small gate on the east side. If you have anything you want, you can come to me .”
Mu Mingtang’s face sank suddenly, she glanced fixatedly at Xie Xuanji, and suddenly sneered: “Wow, what do you mean by this, Prince Jin? Your sweetheart has returned and you’re reunited with your past lover. Now you feel that the subst.i.tute you abandoned is rather pitiful? I’m your sister-in-law, and now your brother is seriously ill in bed, you let me head to the Jin Manor from the small gate at the side, what do you mean by this?”
Xie Xuanji seemed to smile, and took a step forward, he suddenly narrowed the distance between the two of them: “Do you really think that after that nondescript wedding, you’re my sister-in-law now? I was the one in place through the first half of the wedding.”
“You’re just a subst.i.tute.” Mu Mingtang immediately wanted to retreat, but she n’t couldn’tescape from Xie Xuanji and almost fell over. Xie Xuanji grabbed Mu Mingtang. Mu Mingtang found that they got even closer. She panicked. As soon as she stood firm, she threw away Xie Xuanji’s hand: “You b.a.s.t.a.r.d, let me go!”
Mu Mingtang thought that in broad daylight, Xie Xuanji dared not do anything. But as she looked up, she found that the door was closed. The s.p.a.cious hall was left empty, only the two of them were there.
Mu Mingtang’s heart felt cold, she hurriedly struggled out of Xie Xuanji’s hands, and backed away: “Xie Xuanji, I’m your sister-in-law, are you just going to disregard our relations.h.i.+p?”
“Do you really take this marriage seriously?” Xie Xuanji smiled lightly, “He is unconscious, and he has no power to do anything he wants. If you’re with him, what will happen to you? If you’re smart, you’ll know what to do. .”
“What should she do?”
Both Xie Xuanji and Mu Mingtang were shocked. They quickly turned their heads and heard the sound of a heavy object knocking on the edge of the bed in the innermost hall.
Mu Mingtang knew immediately that it was the iron handcuffs on Xie Xuanchen’s hand. The chain was made of dark steel which was extremely heavy. Only the pair of handcuffs could make such a loud noise.
