Chapter 370
As soon as Xie Xuanchen came, his presence made the Beirong people choke up without even saying a word. Prime Minister Song was actually very impressed in his heart, but he still smiled and greeted Xie Xuanchen kindly. After saying some pleasantries, he added, “Prince An and Prince Jin might have things to discuss, so this humble one will take my leave. Your Highnesses the Princes and Your Highness the Princess, please take your time.”
After Prime Minister Song left, Xie Xuanji actually stepped forward and cupped his hands to Xie Xuanchen, “Second brother, second sister-in-law.”
Jiang Mingwei was standing beside Xie Xuanji, so she followed his lead to greet the other royal couple. Xie Xuanji was also very shocked today, which was why even upon seeing Xie Xuanchen now, he didn’t know how to deal with the previous issue.
Xie Xuanchen had dared to say ‘let’s go to war, then’ without blinking an eye and even the Beirong people became tense from his aura. Xie Xuanji looked back at himself and felt a deep sense of powerlessness and frustration.
Xie Xuanchen had to deal with Xie Xuanji and they exchanged a few words. The two Princes talked for a bit as Mu Mingtang tried to discreetly cover up a yawn, but she didn’t succeed.
She thought that her movements were small, but unexpectedly, Xie Xuanchen noticed it immediately, making him turn back to look at her. Seeing this, Xie Xuanji said with great insight, “It’s this brother who was negligent and didn’t notice that the second sister-in-law was out of energy. It’s getting late, brother and sister-in-law, you two should go back and rest.”
Xie Xuanji clearly remembered that when he was in the garden this afternoon, Mu Mingtang sweetly said that she had no regrets. Han women were slightly introverted, so when Mu Mingtang admitted this, it was tantamount to admitting that she liked Xie Xuanchen.
Therefore, she was satisfied and had no regrets.
These words were said behind the men’s backs, which meant that they couldn’t be faked. If you said this in front of a man, it might be intentional in order to please them, but at that time, Mu Mingtang and the others didn’t know that they were behind them. Besides, women would not lie about things like this when they were given the chance to speak privately.
Xie Xuanji was also a married person. Knowing that Xie Xuanchen and Mu Mingtang would probably be very busy tonight, he backed off with a good amount of self-awareness. If he dragged Xie Xuanchen any longer and wasted his time, he was probably going to be despised.
This was exactly what Xie Xuanchen wanted— he was eager to go home quickly instead of being patient and drawing out the conversation with incompetent men. Xie Xuanchen agreed to it without saying a word and he was about to take Mu Mingtang away, Jiang Mingwei seemed to think of something suddenly and said, “By the way, sister-in-law, you don’t have to worry about what happened this afternoon— everything was a misunderstanding.”
Xie Xuanchen’s movements froze and he suddenly felt a bad premonition. Mu Mingtang suddenly remembered what happened in the afternoon, so she raised the question in curiosity and asked, “What about it?”
Jiang Mingwei seemed confused when Mu Mingtang asked the reason. She looked at Mu Mingtang, then at Xie Xuanchen who was started stretching inexplicably and was very surprised, “Sister-in-law, didn’t second brother tell you?”
Mu Mingtang turned her head to look at Xie Xuanchen and suddenly smiled, already having a guess in her heart. When he saw her smile, his back started getting sweaty. However, he had no way to stop this. He could only watch Mu Mingtang lie to Jiang Mingwei, “You mean the topic that we talked about this afternoon? Since we are all a family, there’s no need to pursue it any longer.”
