“No,” Xie Xuanchen put Mu Mingtang down and gently smoothed the scattered hair on her temples, “I’m not lying to you this time; I really didn’t.”

After Xie Xuanchen finished speaking, without looking back, he threw out a dagger with his backhand and nailed another Beirong man to the ground who was trying to escape. He covered his legs and wailed, shouting in broken Mandarin “Your Emperor of the Ye Dynasty has ceded Zhongshan City to our Great Beirong and now this is our territory!”

Xie Xuanchen sneered. He let go of Mu Mingtang and whispered to her, “Close your eyes.”

Mu Mingtang subconsciously covered her eyes. Then, she heard Xie Xuanchen draw out his long sword with a clang and slowly walked towards the Beirong man, “It has never been your decision as to who these territories belong to and I don’t care about this imperial edict. Hence, I refuse to accept it.”

After saying that, he pierced the opponent’s throat with a pop. Xie Xuanchen pulled out the sword, with the blood of Beirong people still dripping on it, and pointed it straight at the imperial envoy,  “For the sake that you are from our Ye Dynasty, I will spare your life. Go back and tell Xie Rui(3) that such a coward is not worthy of being the Emperor of Ye.”

After saying that, his eyes changed and he said with murderous intent, “Get out.”
