"HAPPY BIRTHDAY, WIFE!"
The very moment Sapphire came out of the bathroom, he immediately went over for a hug. At that time, they had just finished was.h.i.+ng up after swimming in the ice-cold sea.
"So fragrant of you," he praised his wife. "Give me a kiss."
Her hands pushed his face away. "Enough of this, Husband," she laughingly replied. "I'm feeling sleepy. Let's just continue the celebration later this morning."
However, he still insisted on finding the right tempo and then swiftly kissed her on the cheeks. She didn't really protest.
He smiled. He was glad Sapphire's heart was gradually softening. She was already starting to trust him and she even confided to him a while ago. Perhaps, it’s really true that for a man, it always feel amazing to be trusted.
And from the story he heard from his wife, he swore to never let her down. He will guard her secret the same way he cares for her as his wife.
She only dried her hair and after a few minutes she went to sleep. It seemed like the day has really tired her out.
He carefully covered her with the blanket and then planted a kiss on her forehead. After staring at him for quite a while, he just found himself smiling.
"Looks like I'm going crazy," he whispered to himself and then shook his head. He went out of room and checked those people they 'jailed up'.
When he pa.s.sed by Ramses' room, he heard some voices conversing. When he reached Reynald's, the same thing was happening there. However, Gideon's room was awfully quiet when he tried to eavesdrop from the door.
He could only shrug. Not long after, he yawned and was about to return to their room when he made out a figure standing on the verandah at the end of the second floor's hallway.
"Big Bro Bari?" he called out to his cousin as he walked to him.
The guy glanced back at Johann. He was holding onto a mug of coffee.
"Why are still up?"
"Thinking about things," the guy replied in seriousness. "Is Sapphire asleep?"
He nodded. Meanwhile, his mind was wondering why this older cousin of his was very weird. The guy actually didn't join their party for the whole day, right? "I'll be going to sleep as well. This day was quite exhausting. Okay, I'm off first."
"Johann," the guy said.
That made him looked back.
"I noticed that both you and Sapphire were happy. Looks like she’s finally opening up her heart to you."
"Well, a hottie's powers," he answered in a joking manner.
"Do you like her?"
"Yup!" he honestly replied. Why bother to deny it, eh, in fact he really likes his wife?
"Just don't lead her on if you're not ready to fully love her yet."
Johann's forehead wrinkled. "W-what do you mean?"
The corner of his lips went up. "You still love Czarina, right?"
He was startled frozen when he heard the girl's name.
"You're still hurting."
Johann's gaze strayed off of him.
"Don't make Sapphire your rebound if you want to forget Czarina. Don't ever confuse your feelings. Because when the day comes that Sapphire loves you and you think you love her too, everything's going to be messed up when Czarina returned. You'll be conflicted the moment she appears in front of you. Am I right?"
He couldn't answer. However, he admitted to himself, what his cousin had said is true.
