Xiling Empire Chapter 5

(Ch.5) Pandora

Thanks to the ridiculous amount of information yesterday, I'm out the whole day, walking into walls here and there. My symptoms are so similar to hangovers my sister thought I spent the whole night poisoning myself with alcohol.

"I should've skipped, why would I pretend to be a good student……"

On the way to school, I strongly regret my decision. At these times I always

envy those students that came from other city and live in dorms. It's really

easy for them to skip. Just lock the dorm door and everything's good. For

me…..my sister's intuition is unbelievably accurate. I'm not brave enough to

let her know I skipped. Plus, I'm in grade 12, and my marks aren't so good. If

I skip……

Walking subconsciously on the street, I repeatedly shake my head,

trying to wake myself up. Although there's not much car in this small street,

it's still not pleasant to have an accident. But, brains are not filters, no

matter how hard I shake, I couldn't get all those mess out of my head.

Suddenly I had a weird feeling, like something is watching me.

Gooseb.u.mps creep over my skin, and I become completely awake.

I look around, and find a little girl walking towards me.

She appears to be around 13 or 14 years old, wearing a skirt that

look like windbreaker. She has a shoulder-length black hair. Her lips slightly

tightened, forming a curve not similar to smile but also pleasant to see. She looks cute, but her eyes give me a feeling of incongruity. Her large black eyes

should be very enthusiastic, but instead, I can't find a focus in her eyes. If I didn't feel her eyes lock on me, I would definitely think she's blind.

I adjust my face, put on my best smile(at least that's what I think), and said, "Hey, can I help you?"

……Why do I feel like people saying I'm abducting loli behind my back. Illusion?……

The cute loli slightly raise her head. Her eyes didn't turn to any

part of my body, but I have a feeling that she is watching my every move - It's

a strange feeling that I don't know how to describe.

This is an abnormal loli!

But how many normal things had I experienced recently? My mind

mysteriously got connected to the "Xiling Empire", so, I think my nerve is

nearly as durable as aviation steel.

The loli observes me for a while with her expression-less face. As

if confirmed something, she slightly nodded, and bows at me.

I'm not sure if this is illusion, but I think something in my brain resonates with her.

"Glad to see you, emperor," The first thing she said scared me,

"My name is Pandora-zero, Xiling general."

"Ah?" this astonis.h.i.+ng introduction kicks me straight into a crash, the only thing I can do is to make a meaningless sound like this. What did she just call me? Emperor? And she is a general? Isn't this a bit too far off the track?

She doesn't seem to want to solve my confusion. After her introduction, she just stood there, looking up at me, her eye without a focus also contain no emotion.

I stare at this girl, trying to find a slightest expression of pranking on her face, but I failed. Her is perfectly calm.

If she didn't lie to me(which is impossible since I haven't told anyone about the Xiling empire), she must be a member of the Xiling empire. And judging by the nature of that world, she is actually a robot?

A dream world suddenly becomes more and more realistic, a person even came out of it. I feel like my brain is overloading. So, I stretched out my hand, lightly pinch the face of the loli.

……I'm not a lolicon, I swear. My muscle just twitched. Yes, my muscle just twitched……

I immediately pull my hand back as soon as I realize what I was doing, but the short contact is enough for me to make sure she's not a robot.

"Xiling Apostles are magic-powered a.s.sembled organism," she obviously doesn't mind what I just did. As if she realized what I was confused about, she continued in her toneless voice, "we are not robot. Our magic technology is very different from the technology on this world. Although they look very alike, the base of our technology is supernatural energy and occult, closer to the magic and alchemy in stories of this world. Technically speaking, my current body is very similar to carbon based organism. Similar enough that I need to eat to get my energy supple. Our magic a.s.semble technology allow us to change our body structure according to our will. Under non-combatant status, you can see Xiling apostles as normal human."

Good job! Explaining that much to me with such a robotic voice.

After reviewing her words in my brain many times, I finally understand what she's trying to say. Well, this thing is too supernatural. The fact that I can a.n.a.lyze what she just said instead of running away yelling things like "it's impossible" or "you're kidding me" shows that I really have strong nerves. But limited by IQ, I'm still confused……

"You mean, you guys look like high-tech alien, but actually you are alien that knows magic?"

"Yes!" How concise!

Ok, let's pa.s.s this question. No one had actually seen magic, and although that

world look really high-tech, no one knows what it runs on, so let's a.s.sume it's actually magic and alchemy.

Actually, when the loli announce that she's from Xiling empire, I stopped expecting things to not go wrong.

"So, how did Xiling empire enter my dream? How am I your emperor? I don't think the t.i.tle 'emperor' would be given to a normal person this easily."

I must ask this question. Although it's a good thing to become the emperor of a very advanced empire, according to the 99.99999999999999% unusable execution list, the empire couldn't bring me any advantage, but certainly trouble.

"Time error…… years ago, Xiling empire experienced a catastrophe. The whole empire hibernated. Until not long ago, the only functioning signal receiver detected a thought

fluctuation that fits our emperor, the empire awakened because of this. I was sent here to a.s.sist you. Other data are damaged by unknown reason, but you are for sure one of our emperor. This is confirmed by all apostles that are

awakened."

"Wait……you said 'one of' the emperors?" I noticed the 'one of'. So, after all, "emperor" is something out from an a.s.sembly line in the Xiling empire?

"Yes. Those with cla.s.s-NT authority are called emperor. According to the latest database, there are 135 Xiling emperors in total, separated in all reigns all over universes. Every emperor have equal authority. You are not one of the emperors, specific reason cannot be found."

Emperor council?

"Emmmm……Do I need to be this emperor?" I asked carefully. There are 135 emperors, no doubt, any one is way stronger than me. If any emperor awakens, they don't even need to do much to kill an emperor that can't use 99.9999999999999% of his execution list.

"According to Xiling Law, individuals forfeiting cla.s.s-NT authority is seen as forfeiting

its own existence. Do you wish to execute this choice? This confirmation will be done three times."

Forfeiting existence……you mean death?

"OK, I'll be the emperor, but I'll say this in advance: you guys found me and force me to be this emperor. If anything happens, don't blame anything on me!!!"

So, that's how me, Jun Chen, an average grade 12 student, at some year some month some day, without making any sense, became a nonsense emperor of a nonsense empire.
