*I restructured this whole sentence to make it more coherent, so it may be a bit far from the original. The gist is still there though
During that time, he also went online to look up some information about Vichy. And now he finally knew what that man’s name was. Leonid Igor Staseyevich Ren Zhouyan thought, when he was young, he wrote his name. Was he so tired that he didn’t bother to look at it*? After all, in his memories, he was a cold and impatient man.*Original text: 会不会累得摔笔不干.
摔笔不干 means to refuse to do work, throwing down your pen in the process in order to make a point (from: Aurega on NUF). So maybe be was so tired (after the one night stand lol) that he didn’t even look at his name?
He shook his head with a smile and felt that he was bored. But after reading the data on Vichy, he was honestly really attracted to the company. What Fan Wenfeng said wasn’t an exaggeration. In fact, he was underestimating the company a bit. In less than three years from when it was established, Vichy had its headquarters in the United States. China was the first foreign market it was going to attack. The establishment of Vichy was based on the recent trend of STEM in the United States, referring to Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics education. Its boss, that Leonid, and one of the scientists who proposed the integration of this STEM concept, Peter, were good friends. So it was greatly supported when it was founded. It was a new topic in China. However, in the United States, it was already an indicator for evaluating students in major universities. It was even one of the important references in their admission. But companies like Vichy, which were launched in the market with it as the sole main product, were few. But in the end, Ren Zhouyan couldn’t learn from the simple introduction of the company how it worked. Or to put it simply, he didn’t know how they made money. A course would cost hundreds; thousands at most. In China, it currently wasn’t too to popular. They weren’t many who would spend that much money to let their children learn it. Looking at their best selling courses, those that charge a thousand for a course package, it was a little bit in the eyes of entrepreneurs. Not enough money. It was impossible to support such a large organization. He remembered what Fan Wenfeng told him about the salary he might’ve received. They could rent such a building in the center of the city as an office and education base and support many high-tech personnel. Relying on such a small course fee, one could see that it really wasn’t enough. Thus he was really curious about the company’s operating secrets. However, all these were based on his entry to the company. He recalled the last time with the head of personnel and his ungrateful refusal of the interview. And now, even if he regretted it, they would most likely not want him. He sighed, closed the computer page and rubbed his temples with his eyes closed. To be honest, he was a little excited. Especially when he heard Fan Wenfeng say that Leonid was often abroad, he was ruthlessly* swayed. The company was just too tempting. If he and that disagreeable man don’t meet face to face, or if he didn’t remember his words……*also: resolutely, firmly, ferociously
He jerked abruptly, his body sitting up. He never considered this before. He would naturally remember that man purely because he saw his son’s face that looked like him everyday. He couldn’t forget. But as for Leonid, he was a mere "stranger." Not to mention they were both drunk that night. The more Ren Zhouyan thought about it, the more he thought he was right. In the eyes of foreigners, Asians were all the same. And the night they met was already many years ago. Thinking of this, his blood boiled in excitement and he re-opened the official site of Vichy. He wondered how he could regain the opportunity he lost. He thought that the matter wouldn’t turn out favorably. After all, Vichy was a famous company and he had also rejected their offer before. But Ren Zhouyan had the mentality of trying. At that moment, he bit the bullet and called HR for the interview. Surprisingly, the other party accepted his excuse quite easily and was willing to give him a second chance. After hanging up the phone, Ren Zhouyan was still a little dazed. Listening to the voice of the HR, it seemed as if the other party was also…… very excited?TL Note: Hmm, I wonder why they’re excited? Hehehe…
Anyways, behold the greatness of Vichy! Truly a great company to work in. This chapter is mainly emphasizing that point. Ren Zhouyan is lucky he was given another chance lmao
While translating this, I felt biter because I was reminded of school. I’m a STEM course student and I regret choosing it. Science, I can do. But mathematics is brutal. I remember crying because of the strain I dealt with in calculus. I knew I should’ve chosen Humanities huhuhu
But my pitiful ranting aside, this chapter’s name is “Reunion.” Anyone wanna guess why? It’ll be revealed in the next part! (At least I think so… )
I hate keeping you guys in suspense by dividing the chapters like this, but I need to do so to keep my release schedule, which is about weekly. Ahhh well. Happy New Year!
