4for Christmas we'll have time to really sit down and
catch up. I can't wait to see you By the way little
brother Barry is coming too. Still single and more hand-
some than ever. I was telling Mom that the age differ-
ence between you and him no longer seems like much
of an issue to me-not that I'm playing matchmaker.
Actually if I was playing matchmaker, I might introduce
you to the man I had dinner with tonight (strictly busi-
ness, mind you-my heart still belongs to Jedi). But
anyway this guy who is supposed to be my ~nemy'
(long story...). turns out to be incredibly decent-only
my first impressions, of course. He is a little older than
us, I think, and divorced, and there may be good rea-
sons for that... but I found him surprisingly good
company-pleasant, thoughtful, and polite. He's the Looking for You All My Life141
money man" behind a controversial development
going in up here (part of that long story). Anyway I'm
going to go check out some of his developments to
see if he's really for real or not. You may have heard his
name befor~Colin Byers. Know anything about him?
The fly in the ointment is that Jed saw me with him
tonight, and I'm sure he didn't understand. It doesn't
help that we've "put our relations.h.i.+p on hold" for
Leah's sake. (Jed's decision.) By the way do you ever
call men? Just wondering.
Love you.

Just as she hit the "send" b.u.t.ton, an idea occurred to her.
Jed had an email address. She had seen it on his business
card. She wondered how regularly he checked it. Somehow
the idea of communicating via email wasn't as intimidating
as calling him on the phone. And who knew, perhaps this
was a way they could remain in contact without drawing
Leah's attention to themselves. Anyway, she figured it was
worth a try. She only hoped that Leah didn't access his email
at work. Perhaps she could keep the content somewhat
generic in this message and simply see what happened.
Hijed,
I was just online and remembered that you get email,
and I thought perhaps you might enjoy getting a mes-
sage. Although, I'm not sure how regularly you check
your in-box.. As you saw, I had dinner with "the
-enemy" tonight. My purpose was to attain more infor-
mation about the development and to try to maintain
an objective viewpoint about this whole controversy
But when I saw you, I wished we could talk. I miss our
talks, Jed. I thought maybe we could "talk" through
email. Or would that be taking our relations.h.i.+p "off
hold" so to speak? Ijust figured this might be a private
way to sort of hold things together during the interim.
