Api di Bukit Menoreh Book 01 – Chapter 10
But what Untara expected happened. The people who were hiding behind the trees became impatient. So one of them shouted, ” who are you guys?”
Then Untara take a step forward, he whispered: “hold the rein of our horses”.
But Sedayu did not even grab the horse's rein. unconsciously, he still held onto his brother's clothes again. Slowly Untara pulled off his brother's hand and said softly “Sedayu if you do not want to take the horse rein, don't hold on to my clothes, hold on to your keris handles.”
But Sedayu quiet heart could no longer grasp the meaning of his brother's words. As his brother s.h.i.+fted a step further, Sedayu hand dropped limply as he stood between the two horses like a rotted pole. A little touch would break it down.
In the meantime, a voice came once more from the edge of the forest shouting among the raindrop that had begun to subside.
“Hey, who are you guys?”
Untara eyes tried to penetrate the night, but he did not succeed. Therefore he answered carefully “we are children from the Sedang Gabus. Who are you?”
“Whose kid?” shouted a question.
Untara hesitated. Do they know everyone at Sendang Gabus? Untara himself did not know many people from Sendang Gabus, although Jati Anom hamlet is not far from Sendang Gabus. To tell them his name is impossible for him. Had the men in hiding were the remnants armed forces of Penangsang, then the name of Untara would have well known to them. Thus it was impossible for him to go beyond this place without bloodshed. Therefore he tried to hide his name as much as possible. If he fails to reach Sangkal Putung then Widura will experience disaster. Therefore he answered with a gamble “Son of Sadipa.”
“Sadipa?' replied one of them.
“Yes” answered Untara.
“Which sadipa, a tall sickly man or a short man with scab?” Asked the voice again.
