“So the rumors are true…”

“What rumors?” Huo Mian asked with interest.

“The rumor has it that GK’s President Qin treasures his wife more than his own life, and he can’t even stand women who look like her… I guess that’s why I was fired. But what about you, Vice Director Huo? Would you randomly fire me and name me guilty for looking like you?”

Huo Mian quickly noticed how smart this woman was. Zhang Manlin practically pushed Huo Mian into a corner. Huo Mian was the vice director of a huge hospital and therefore would seem petty if she fired this woman for looking like her.

However, it was extremely weird for Huo Mian not to fire her, because that meant a woman who looked like her would roam the halls of her hospital.

After a few moments of silence, Huo Mian nodded. “I won’t.”

“That’s good, then there wouldn’t be any problem. Thank you, Vice Director Huo… but I’d like to say that my parents gave me this face, and I didn’t have a choice either. I’m sure we’re not related because I asked our colleagues and our blood types are different. Most importantly, my parents are ordinary farmers and do not have complicated ties to the elite… So don’t worry, I won’t pretend that we’re related to get money from you. Then, the woman opened Huo Mian’s office door and left.

Zhang Manlin was an outgoing woman and even had a tomboy side to her. Therefore, she quickly got along with everyone and was the center of attention wherever she went. She may not be stunningly beautiful, but she was still attractive in her own way.

During that first few days, Zhang Manlin was the only thing that South Side could talk about. Even Director Wu was shocked by how much this woman looked like Huo Mian.

The male physicians, knowing that she was single, all answered her every beck and call. It seemed like everyone, from the doctors and nurses to the patient and anesthesiologist, enjoyed Zhang Manlin’s presence and company.

Huo Mian, however, was filled with complicated emotions; she wasn’t annoyed or jealous, nor was she happy.

She also couldn’t admit that she was okay with this. After all, she wasn’t a saint.

-Lunch time, South Side cafeteria –

The seats around Zhang Manlin filled up almost immediately, no matter where she sat.

One of the nurses asked, “Manlin, are you really not related to our vice director?”

“I’m really not, I’m from the suburbs and my parents are both farmers. We don’t have relatives as amazing as the vice director.” Zhang Manlin smiled.

“But you guys look so alike! Did you get plastic surgery?” someone else joked.

Not angered by this remark at all, Zhang Manlin replied, “I’m not trying to offend the vice director, but why would I get plastic surgery to look like her? If I were to go under the knife, I would rather look like Beyonce, haha.”

Everyone burst out in laughter.

At this moment, Huo Mian was quietly sitting in another corner of the cafeteria, slowly enjoying her lunch. Chen Jie had been taking care of Ni Yang’s mother for the last few days so she had been eating lunch alone.

“Can I sit with you?” The magnetic voice of a man caused Huo Mian to look up.
