“Of course. I shall be quiet now.” The lord kept his word, as he got up and left the meeting room immediately, without anymore lines from him.

Lu remained at the deserted venue. Her colorless eyes lingered at the seat he sat before. The cold expression of hers cracked, in a sense of defeat indescribable with words.

It almost felt as if…Huo would never change his mind regarding her mother no matter what she did.

It was also a helpless situation that could worsen if nothing was done on her part.

She took a deep breath, as she collected her thoughts and tossed those negativities away. She switched off the light and locked the meeting room.

The news got everywhere in the city as the headline, printed in huge bold Arial –

The picture was blurry but one could discern a man and a woman coming out from an exquisite-looking French restaurant. Lin’s face was clearly seen while only the profile of the woman could be perceived.

Nevertheless, Lu could tell that it was Mo Shan at first glance.

Lu calmly sorted her doc.u.ments on her desk while Lin Yazhi, pursing her lips, was grinding her teeth viewing her monitor.

The expected cracking and screaming were not heard. Instead, she saw her kitty mug held perfectly in his palm.

Huo Li then placed the mug back onto her desk and flashed eyes at her, “What’s with the tantrum? I’m not here for you, drama queen.”

“Tsk!” Lin returned him a hideous glare.

“Secretary Lu, the president is looking for you.”

Lu responded with a nod, though she was feeling uneasy inside.

The president could have dialed the landline for her, when did Huo Li become a bellboy for him?

Did he get so lazy that he needs his little fanboy to pa.s.s messages for him now?

Lu Zhaoyang went to the President’s Office immediately. The autumn sun poured into the office when she came in after a knock.

Huo Yunting was reclining in his throne, closing his eyes. His eyelashes rested like stamens of dark lilies, while his pinkish lips grooved occasionally like a garden of roses.

She could not help but to tiptoe, as she marveled at the only s.h.i.+rt on his body. His coat was hung nearby, which she took down after, to be laid upon the sleeping man.

All was calm, all was bright, till two hands seized her from the coat inside.

That was when Lu realized that Huo never really fell asleep in the first place.

Huo’s eyes squeezed, gradually opening his eyes, as a force on his arms pulled her entire body over.
