Initiating the Black Paladin quest was simple enough. It was activated upon contact with Ca.s.sius.

Jiaojiao collapsed to the ground, dropping three equipment…

“You gotta die if you wanna switch cla.s.s to Black Paladin.”

Li Yi picked up the equipment that dropped and squatted by her corpse.

Jiaojiao released her soul and was sucked into the realm of Ca.s.sius’ will.

Currently, Jiaojiao was only wearing a white quality Magic Robe to conceal her figure. She really cleared out pretty much everything.

Jiaojiao gritted her teeth, “Don’t tell me I’m not allowed to wear anything during the switch. I’d rather not switch than be naked.”

Li Yi shook his head, “On the contrary. You won’t be able to switch if you don’t put on some equipment. You’ll be facing a lot of monsters. Take this!”

Li Yi transferred an equipment set to Jiaojiao. It was his collectible Devil equipment set.

“Go to h.e.l.l!” Jiaojiao’s brows had disappeared into her hair as she threw the Devil equipment set furiously on the ground.

“This equipment set adds to a character’s attributes by 15 points. Do you know the primary condition to become a Black Paladin? It is to lower your entire attributes by ten points. If you do not wear this set, you will naturally be ten attribute points lower than others. Basically, it means you’re ten levels lower than them.”

“Alright then, since you’re insistent on Necromancy Force, I will let you in on a hint.”

Ca.s.sius’ skeleton shot a streak of black gas which spiraled over Jiaojiao’s entire body.

“Go now, to the Land of Light in the Western Continent. Kill 1,000 of those who dwell in Holy Light and then return to see me… Remember, these dark auras will linger around you until you finish my quest.”

Jiaojiao now has Ca.s.sius’ Dark Aura, a debuff that kept on as long as seven days. It disabled any equipment from being equipped but at the same time, prevented any equipment from being dropped. Any skills were also disabled. However, the Dark Aura would increase damage inflicted from normal attacks.

“See, I didn’t lie to you. No one can see how you look.”

As he watched the churning black gas blocking and guarding Jiaojiao’s modesty, Li Yi could not help but sigh. Once the cla.s.s-switch was successful, the Devil equipment set would be gone forever.

“Do we head to the West?”

Li Yi nodded, “Yeap, you’d still need to kill 1,000 players or monsters who use the Holy Light.”

“What are waiting for then? Let’s go.”

“What’s the rush? Seven days’ a long time.”

Seven days was a considerable amount of time but the difficulty on the quest lay on keeping Jiaojiao alive or Ca.s.sius’ Dark Aura would disappear. Although the quest could be repeated should one fail, each try would deduct another ten points off all attributes. There was no other method to recover them. After one too many times, the player account would be practically useless even if one were to succeed in changing cla.s.s.

Li Yi took Jiaojiao back to the city to make preparations, bring along sufficient potions and scrolls before taking off on their flying mount.

Many benefits came to having a flying mount. For one, there was no need to cross through the trail in the borders. They could simply fly high up in the sky so that no one could see them. Compared to the danger when Li Yi first arrived at the Western Continent, the comfort of the journey definitely went up a few notches.

It was a convenient mode of travel, with no risk of danger the entire way. It was smooth-sailing right up to their arrival at the Land of Light.

Ca.s.sius’ cla.s.s-switching quest requirement was to kill 1,000 of those who possessed the Holy Light. In the Land of Light, there was a place called Holy Light Judicatory where Level 40 human monsters aka the Holy Light Adjudication Army, sp.a.w.ned and swarmed.

There was no difference in rewards whether the quest was completed by killing players or monsters. Hence, Li Yi did not need Jiaojiao to kill Western Continents players. Instead, they secretly snuck into Holy Light Judicatory to kill monsters of the Holy Light Adjudication Army.

Li Yi was using Violent Bear King against the monsters, reducing their HP to about 300 before pulling out. He then had Jiaojiao shoot them to death. The entire teamwork process went sleekly. It had only been an hour and she had already successfully killed over three hundred monsters.

At this rate, Jiaojiao would be able to turn in her quest in three hours’ time.

“Dark Wing’s in the Western Continent! Attention! Attention! He’s at Holy Light Judicatory!”

Someone was screaming at the top of his voice in the regional channel of the Western Continent, causing an uproar.

Dark Wing has made too many enemies in the Western Continent, so much so they were willing to sp.a.w.n camp him forever. The enemy’s tracking system left Li Yi nowhere to hide.

Although his actual coordinates were not known, they knew the estimated location.

Just outside Holy Light Judicatory, Pink Girl and Sister Windcloud Nine went as pale as a ghost. They had just completed their Holy Light Judicatory daily quest and was about to turn it in when they saw the message on the regional channel.

They checked on the tracking system to be sure. The result left them dumbstruck.

“Dark Wing’s here again…”

Pink Girl narrowed her eyes as she tried to get to the bottom of it, “Brother Nine and the rest are clearing a dungeon, why would Dark Wing come at a time like this?”

Sister Windcloud Nine was scared out of her wits, “No matter, let’s just head back to the city. Let’s stay as far as possible from that guy.”

“Why are you so scared of him?”

Sister Windcloud Nine blushed. “I’m not afraid of him, I’m afraid of Brother Nine.”

“Brother Nine hits you?”

“He never hits me.”

“Then?”

“It’s just hard to explain…”

“You’re always like this, speaking illogically. I’m your bestie, you know.” Pink Girl pouted her lips in disgruntlement.

“I just don’t want to air dirty laundry.”

Sister Windcloud Nine batted her eyelashes as she rubbed a Return City Stone.

It was during then, two pitch-black arrows suddenly fired, striking Sister Windcloud Nine directly, disrupting the channeling on her Return City Stone.

“It’s Dark Wing!”

Sister Windcloud Nine made a run for it. Pink Girl had better luck. The channeling time ended and she managed to return to the city.

“This female monster’s weird. She knows your name. Where are you heading? Die!”

A griffin’s cry was heard from the sky. It then landed on the Holy Light Judicatory. When Sister Windcloud Nine caught sight of the player on the griffin, fear overcame her to the point she fainted.

Jiaojiao caught up and drew her bowstring back. She had not yet made her shot.

“What’s up with this female monster?”

Li Yi shook his head, “This is Brother Windcloud Nine’s wife, Sister Windcloud Nine, not some female monster.”

“Brother Windcloud Nine?”

“I have unintentionally killed this chick several times. Just let her go.”

Jiaojiao drew her bowstring back as she peered at Li Yi, “Motherf*cker, have you fallen for her?”

“No…”

“You sure did!” Jiaojiao spat every word through her teeth.

“No, really…”

Jiaojiao glared at Li Yi viciously before turning to shoot rapidly at the unconscious Sister Windcloud Nine.

“An even bigger misunderstanding this time around,” Li Yi helplessly shook his head.

Sister Windcloud Nine slowly came to when she realized she had died. She immediately chose to revive back in the city. The corpse on the ground disappeared…

“Don’t go anywhere. I just saw many Western Continent players heading this way. I think they found me through the tracking system.”

Li Yi frowned for a moment before deciding to leave Jiaojiao on her own. He was going to lure the Western Continent players away.

“Take them one at a time. Take your time. If something’s not right, hide with Invisibility Potion. If it turns bad, just go offline.”

“Don’t worry,” Jiaojiao flicked her arm back and forth in an indifferent manner.

Li Yi got up on Blue Horned Griffin to fly on at a low alt.i.tude in order to attract the Western Continent to a different direction.

“Dark Wing’s in the sky around where I am. Everyone, quick!”

“Dark Wing is flying towards Maelstrom City. C’mon brothers, let’s go! Turn back from Holy Light Judicatory.”

Li Yi was luring the Western Continent players to Maelstrom City.

“Dark Wing has entered Maelstrom City. Keep your eyes peeled!”

Sister Windcloud Nine had just reunited with Pink Girl when she saw this message. She immediately quivered in cold sweat.
