It seemed like she was so furious that she kept kicking everything on her way. Be it, pebbles or empty cans, everything that she encountered on her way to her car.
"Madam! Look Katherine Bradford is already here. Probably she has already picked her allies. She looks too enraged since her scheming failed." Daniel West hypothesised.
Before Jayne could reply, he spoke again, "Madam, I guess we drove back for nothing! Let's get back home now! Boss will be anxiously waiting for your return..."
"Daniel wait! It's just Katherine Bradford. The other two girls are nowhere to be seen. I can sense that something is fishy here... Let's go check on those girls first…" Jayne reckoned.
By then Katherine Bradford's car sped away leaving behind a cloud of dust.
"Okay Madam! Got it!" Daniel West then alighted from the car came around and held the car door open for Jayne to come out.
The security guards at the university entrance were already zoning out, preparing to rest for the day. Since it was the Fest time, students kept coming and going. Therefore, they didn't bother much.
Daniel West and Jayne went back inside the university which was dark and deserted at the moment. There were some lights in the hallway and corridors. But then, not a single soul was present.
Daniel West took Jayne to the room where the Dalton sisters were locked.
Once again, Ella Dalton heard footsteps approaching her. She told Emma, "Emma, probably our Kate isn't that rude as we thought. She must've changed her mind and brought someone with her to rescue us." They felt renewed hope from within which raised their spirits.
Hence, Ella once again banged the door to garner attention. "HELP! HELP! HELP!"
Jayne knew how traumatic it felt to stay inside, locked up in the dark. She felt pity for them. She just looked at Daniel West.
One look from Jayne was enough for Daniel West. "Understood Madam!"
Daniel West tried fervently to unlock the door.
He screamed to the girls, "Hold on for some more time... We're trying to unlock the door..."
"Shall I ask the Security Officers to check?" Jayne interrupted Daniel West.
Before he could answer, the door unlocked.
The Dalton sisters heard it. Happiness transformed their faces as the door flew open.
Emma Dalton even forgot about her injury and sprang up to her feet as she was sitting inside. She felt like her entire body was renewed with energy. She hobbled along to the door.
What she failed to notice was that her sister Ella stood at the door frozen. She neither moved nor spoke.
As Emma Dalton approached nearer, she momentarily paused as she studied her sister who was rooted to the spot. Her forehead creased. "What's wrong with you Ella? Why aren't you talking or moving? Let's get the h.e.l.l out of here first!"
It evoked no response from Ella.
Emma, "...."
'What's with her behaviour? Why is she acting so strange?' Emma pondered as she dragged her feet and staggered along to reach the door. She caught Ella by her arm and enquired, "Why on earth aren't you speaking El-?"
Now it was Emma's turn to remain baffled when she casually turned to look at door. She couldn't complete her sentence as she found out the reason for her sister's strange behaviour.
"I-I-It's J-J-Jayne Roy!" Ella Dalton blurted out making even Emma Dalton snap back to her senses.
They had only one doubt in their minds, 'Didn't we lock her in the other room sometime back? How is that she's out? Even if she's out, how on earth did she have the heart to rescue us when our own ally betrayed us to suffer alone here?'
Realisation dawned on their faces. Fear replaced the earlier happiness.
"Yes! You both are safe now. Let me take you both home first. We'll talk about the other things later." Jayne spoke softly.
Her honeyed voice was soothing to the Dalton sisters unlike Katherine Bradford's authoritative tone. They were left bewildered if they were on Katherine Bradford's side or Jayne Roy's!
The Dalton sisters were left speechless. "Jayne Roy, please forgive us," is all that they could manage telling. They were too ashamed to speak at the moment. Tears rolled down their eyes uncontrollably.
"You don't have to worry about it. Just come along with me now. Let's head back home first. It's getting late." Jayne repeated. She was worried about getting back home since she knew Ronnie would be worried as well.
When Emma Dalton tried to move, her injury hurt. 'Ah!' She screamed in pain.
