Ronnie looked into Jayne's eyes and began humming when the line said, 'The way I dance with you....' They gently began grooving and swaying in waltz style along the dance floor. Their bodies were very intimately positioned now.
Slowly the temperature of the room began to rise. The flames of the bonfire too began to twirl and dance along with them. Ronnie began caressing Jayne's milky white naked back sending electric shocks of pleasure down her body. She tightened her grip on his hands and shoulders and their eye contact didn't break even for a second.
At that instant when they were lost in each other, the song ended. Ronnie was the first to break away from the trance. Without losing eye contact he freed his right hand and slid it into his pocket and took out a box.
In the next instant, he went on his knees still holding Jayne's left hand and began his confession, "Jayne, I don't know if I've to call it a boon or curse of my life to have met you at the foothills of the Mt. Everest that too in that position of yours when you were battling life and death. But then Jayne, the moment I saw you, I knew that a connection exists between us. Or else why would I've to come all the way from London to find and rescue you. It felt like my soul was ripping apart to see you in pain."
He paused and then continued, "I know you may call me selfish. But I already decided then itself that I would fight for your well-being no matter what. I can't even envision a minute longer without you Jayne. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Princess Jayne, Marry be and be my Queen?" He opened the box and inside was a diamond studded ring.
Jayne didn't know how to react. Everything was so sudden. She ever expected that Ronnie would ask her to marry him. She said, "Ronnie, I sure owe you my life. But then that's also my biggest fear. What if one day I wake up with my earlier memories and forget everything about you? That would be the worst thing I'd ever do to you Ronnie. Unknowingly even I've fallen in love with you. In this world, you are the only person I can rely upon and trust. But it shouldn't be like I'm misusing your kindness. Right?"
She fought back her tears, "I don't even know my past life. I don't know if somebody else existed in my life. Moreover your family will have better plans for your marriage. Why would they approve a lame, worthless girl who doesn't even know her name as their daughter in law? I would be another gold-digger woman seducing you sympathetically in their eyes."
An indescribable pain spread through her heart whenever she would think of her past life. 'Just, how bad was my past life?' she thought to herself.
"Jayne, Jayne, Jayne calm down. Don't pressurise yourself so much. You can take your time to answer me." He took her to the chair and made her sit on it. He again knelt on the ground.
"Like I had already promised, I will definitely help you in looking for your past. My a.s.sistant has already prepared a team to look into your background. As for what others think, I don't care. It's only you that I want." Ronnie said.
He began encouraging her, "As for what you want to do next, after the festive season you can calmly think on what you want to do. If you want to work or study, anything is fine with me. I'll support you in anything you want to do. We got to know that you dance really well. Perhaps you can do that. You don't have to marry me and stay locked up in this mansion. Of course you can live a life of your dreams and pa.s.sion Jayne"
At that time, Jayne held Ronnie's hand, "Ronnie, I love you. I really wish to spend the rest of my life with you. Please don't ever lose me. I don't think I can ever live without you." She pulled him into her hug. Tears began flowing down her cheeks.
Ronnie held her now and began consoling her, "Never Jayne. I'll never lose you. Quiet now. Everything will be fine. I'm here." He repeated it.
After she stopped sobbing, he kissed her on her forehead. Surprisingly, Jayne pulled him back and kissed him on his lips. "I will marry you Ronnie!" she held out her hand.
Ronnie was caught off-guard. He didn't react initially. Later, he was on the eleventh cloud. He slipped the ring in her finger and kissed it. "I promise a lifetime of togetherness till death do us apart my Queen."
He continued, "Jayne the six months still holds good. We'll hold the marriage ceremony only after the completion of six months. So you don't have to feel stressed. You can think calmly and change your decision anytime and-"
Jayne covered his lips with her fingers and said, "No Ronnie. With you by my side I'll face all the hurdles of life and also stand by you through thick and thin till death do us apart!"
With that the clock struck twelve. "Merry Christmas Ronnie."
"Merry Christmas Jayne!" they began kissing.
