Yuhi woke up and felt a pair of arms holding him tightly; however, it was unfamiliar to him. He opened his eyes and saw that it belonged to Makino. It seemed like she fell asleep in his arms last night.

If Sumire saw this sight, she would kill him. His wife is scary when she gets jealous. He glanced over and noted that the chains in his hands were undone.

He raised his eyebrows at this. So after they fell asleep, somebody came in and undid these chains? He already formed an idea after he calmed down. They used Kiryu knowing that he would do something if he heard the truth from Makino. Rosalia sent that letter to trap her mother into meeting with him.

Their intention is probably to get him and Makino sleeping together. A deep sigh crossed his lips as he rubbed his neck and stretched his arms. He felt sore due to those chains. To think they are using this old trick on him. How many times did such a thing occur in the past? So many times already.

Yuhi glanced over at the woman on the bed. It does not help that Makino isn't over him. He needs to watch over her carefully to make sure they don't do anything like drug her. It won't be hard to push her away, but he does not want her to do anything that she would regret.

Makino already has too many regrets and nightmares due to the past. He does not want to add to it.

He glanced at his surroundings and surprisingly found a small window at the side. Unfortunately it was not large enough to escape from, it was only enough to let the sunlight enter.

He has yet to forget a single thing from those days. No, he remembers everything more clearer these days. So this cycle of pain and confusion continues.

Back then it was like they were naturally in tune with each other.  It's not like they had a promise or anything to go back home with each other from the studio. But for some reason, at the same time, at the same station on the same platform, in the same train car.

By some unspoken agreement, on weekdays, it was nine fifrren train. On weekends, the six  one. Early in the morning, she would only be half asleep and unconscious, and her head would rest comfortably on his shoulder.

In summer, it was ice cream, and in winter, it was oden. On sunny days they rode together on his bike. Sumire often told him that she likes his regular bike better than his motorbike since she could cuddle with him. Yuhi recalled it quite well, the sensation of her body pressed against his back.

On rainy days they walked and occasionally got much closer to feel each other's warmth. He would take his chance to provide her warmth, to hold her in his arms unconsciously.

When they started dating, they not only made love with each other every day. Whenever they could, an alleyway, behind the vending machines, in the dressing room, or briefly when the director wasn't looking, they would kiss each other affectionately.

Onset when they are recording, their hands would brush against each other under the table, and they'd relax. They would share affectionate and sweet moments with each other, those kisses that were neither pa.s.sionate nor intense, and yet for the two of them, it was enough.

In that small bathtub in that run-down apartment, they'd take baths together and talk about mundane and pointless things; yet it was peaceful. In those days, it was peaceful.

The past seven years without her were more painful than he thought. While they had many separations in the past, it was not that long.

"Do you miss her?" A voice said.

Yuhi glanced over and saw that Makino woke up.

"Mm, yeah. Since she returned, I try to stick to her like glue." Even though she is busier than ever now, Yuhi makes sure to see her every day; he ensures that he is awake when she comes back from work late.

Maybe it was due to the aftershock of her leaving for seven years, but he has to make sure she falls asleep in his arms. He would not rest unless he knew she was there.

His thoughts broke off when the doors opened, the person who opened the door surprised him—a man with jet black long hair.

"Lucifer?" Makino mumbled.

A deep sigh crossed his lips, and he extended his hand out. It was a bag of food. "Eat."

Yuhi looked at him, puzzled. Why on earth is this man here?

"Just to let you know, I do not have long."

An idea formed in his head, and Yuhi nodded as he took one of the bags. Yuhi immediately recognized the boxes inside. "Sumire?"

"Taking care of your daughter, who pa.s.sed out. Unfortunately, they would not let me see Austin Kiryu, so I cannot deliver any good news that would wake her up."

Lila pa.s.sed out? That silly girl is pregnant; she needs to be careful.

"Makino, you eat too. Sumire cooks well."

Makino nodded, but Yuhi noticed her looking awkwardly at Lucifer. Now that he thought it through. Makino did not see Lucifer in a long time. Since that battle? HQ ensured that the two did not make contact with each other any longer, to avoid any casualties.

"Are you single?" Lucifer suddenly asked Makino.

Yuhi almost spat out his drink. This man is far too bold - that is the first thing he says in so long?

"I am."

"I see, then maybe I should make you my wife."

At that comment, he watched as anger flashed through her eyes. "Are you being serious right now?"

Yuhi sighed deeply. Now he understood why nothing ever happened between his wife and Lucifer. No matter how kindly Lucifer treats women, this man has no tac, and he does not understand another person's emotions. His greeting aside, what is that about making Makino his wife and all?

"If you're my wife, I can get you out of here."

At that comment, Yuhi nodded. Now he understands. "Makino, go along with it."

"Do you think I would leave you here?"

"I can handle myself. But I am worried about what they will try to do with you. You no longer have the means to protect yourself like you did back then. Last night—"Yuhi paused in mid-sentence when he recalled what happened last night.

The purple-colored bruises on her face and shoulders served as a reminder. It reminded him of how he failed to protect somebody who was right in front of him.

Makino shook her head. "I will be fine. Rosalia is still my daughter."

"You mean our daughter."

She glared at Lucifer. "Now, you acknowledge her as your daughter? I thought you wanted nothing to do with her."

"Of course I didn't," Lucifer answered. "At the time, of course, I had to disown her. If they connected her to me, then she would not live a normal life."

He understood why nothing happened with Lucifer and his wife. But now he understood why Sumire stayed with Lucifer, and why she accepted his help despite her deep grudge against him. This man is even more awkward at expressing his feelings than Sumire and him.

Yuhi watched as a flash of shock appeared in Makino's eyes. "Then—" Makino trailed off. "Why did you not come for me? I missed you, why did you abandon me? You said you would be there for me no matter what. But you left just like everybody else. You words were empty."

So she was waiting for Lucifer? Now that made sense. Whenever they did it, something felt wrong to him.
