The sun rose earlier than usual today . Carl drove to work after dropping Kim off . She was still in a dilemma as to whether to stay in school or not .
Although Carl had a.s.sured her whatever decision she made, he would accept it . For some reason, she did not want to increase the distance between them . She wanted to be as close to him as possible .
When Carl arrived, Chamberlain was not in the office . So he busied himself while wondering why Chamberlain wanted to watch him at all times when he should be in the finance department . Because of his boss he had to move to and fro a few times a day and he hated moving about .
With his lowered, he typed away on the computer . When he heard familiar footsteps, he raised his head .
Carl smiled mocking when he saw the state of his boss . Though he was dressed in a suit, his hair, neat, his face wasn't as sharp as the rest of his body .
"How was your first night?" Carl smirked .
Whereas Chamberlain glared at him, unfortunately, Carl remained unfazed . May be because he had grown accustomed to teasing each other that he was not as reserved and as polite as when he started working .
Carl wasn't sure when it began but teasing him was a lot more fun than he thought . Now he felt hate was too strong a word, he did not hate Chamberlain, he just disliked him a little .

He was even more pleasant now as compared to before .
"I heard the first night is usually more exciting . " Carl continued to tease . He was pretty sure Chamberlain ran away . He just couldn't help it .
He added, "For someone who doesn't like his wife, you sure had fun . "
If eyes could kill, Carl would probably be dead . Chamberlain retorted, "It's not bad, as compared to someone who has to stay celibate because his crush is his sister . "
Like a punch to cotton, his words had no effect on him . After all things with Kim wasn't as bad as Chamberlain speculated .
Carl grinned, "I heard sister-complex is exciting . "
"Seriously, who's feeding you these worthless information . You keep "hearing," what did you see for yourself?"
"I'm speaking from experience, what do you know? A virgin like you wouldn't understand," Carl said, shaking his head .
Chamberlain raised his brow . Then he smiled wryly, it was his fault . If he had not accepted Carl as his friend, he would not be hearing these sought of things .
Carl lowered his head to continue working . Though he appeared serious, he was gloating on the inside .
"For a kid, you sure talk more than you're capable . And do I appear so holy to you?" Chamberlain asked before walking away .
Carl grinded his teeth, 'Kid?'
"Yes, I'm just a child so we can't be friends!" He yelled, startling the secretaries .
"Humph! How childish . " Chamberlain muttered .
Paying no heed to the child staring daggers at him, he entered his office .
…
"The wedding will be held in the capital, so both of you will have to come over . " A sweet voice floated into Lena's ears .
It was a call from her mother, she had wanted to call but Mrs . Hansberry beat her to it .
"Actually, it's a bit rushed, I don't know what your father is thinking but thankfully, I managed to get a good spot . " Mrs . Hansberry sighed .
'Thankfully, it's to a person I know,' she thought .
Lena listened quietly . She had no thoughts concerning the wedding preparations . And since she had been told to avoid the opposite gender because she was already betrothed to Chamberlain, she saw him as her husband, so it did not matter .
As she listened, her mind drifted to the past . For as long as she could remember, her parents her told her would be married to Chamberlain . She tried to get close to him but she was too shy to approach him so she tried as much as possible to be within his view . Where they could both see each other . This was the reason Chamberlain found her weird . Find authorized novels in Webnovel, faster updates, better experience,Please click www . webnovel . com for visiting .
They did not talk much but he would always catch her watching him . Since he would always see her staring, she seemed more like a stalker than his fianceé .
May be she had grown accustomed to him so all her thoughts were with him as her focus . Though they were eight years apart, she didn't think it was too much . Probably because her mother had told her that an older man was much more stable and responsible .
She also felt secure with him .
"I've also sent the invitation out, are your friends abroad coming too?" Her mother's question brought her back to the present .
Lena hummed in acknowledgement . "Mother… . "
She had a lot of questions to ask but she did not know where to start or what to even ask .
Mrs . Hansberry went quiet . She strained her ears to hear whatever her daughter wanted to say .
She had always been close to her daughter so she knew her daughter did not object to Chamberlain and because of that, she was thankful .
If that weren't the case, she would be torn between father and daughter .
A few seconds went by and Lena said nothing . Her mother knew she had many questions, so she comforted her, "It's going to be fine . "
Mrs . Hansberry's words were enough to calm the raging storm in her heart . After all, her mother had never lied to her .
