"Yes, yes. Go do your lady thing... well your monster lady thing or is it strictly your kind's thing over there." Gregory replied as he brought up his hand and started to pinch the area between his eyebrows. "What no! I'm not due for another 18 days!" Ariana shouted. Gregory brought down his hand and gave her a look of utter disbelief. "Then get out." Gregory spat as he pointed towards the door. "No! I need you to listen. I messed up and now I need your help." Ariana said forcefully through her clenched jaw.
"I don't have time for your petty little grievances. Leave me, leave this room and come back when your-ugh, your body does what it needs to do." Gregory said as he waved at Ariana up and down. "It's not trivial! Lives are at stake Gregory!" Ariana shouted. "Why should I care?" Gregory asked as he stomped towards Ariana. His amber coloured eyes glowed with a sinister s.h.i.+ne. "It's the church." Ariana replied flatly just as Gregory raised his hand, stopping it mid air. "What have you done?" Gregory said in a deadly whisper.
"I didn't know they would have been provoked. Now they are on their way to kill the Nahia family or I don't know maybe they have already killed them. I don't know but I need to save them and Aroha has a plan but I can't move forward until I get your help." Ariana said as she shot Gregory a cold glare, recalling the horrid events with Halina earlier that night. "So you don't even know if the family is even dead?" Gregory asked as he curled his fingers inwards and made a fist. "I don't think they're dead yet. If they were, I don't think... I hope Aroha wouldn't have given me hope by sending me to you just to distract me. So Gregory, please help me." Ariana said pitifully. "Fine. You have my help. Now what is the plan?" Gregory asked.
....
Ariana could feel her heart pounding. She couldn't believe that Aroha was so strategic. She looked out towards the property. The rain was coming down heavily but the lights were still on inside the house. According to Duko, the Nahia family was still completely alive. There were all waiting together in the sitting room.
It seemed like a female was pacing the room, while an older gentleman was staring out the window. A total of 14 adults and a half dozen children were waiting for big brother Theo to return. The plan seemed utterly fool proof. She recalled to what happened back at Gregory's room.
"She says that we will need to borrow Thor. For transportation and cover. To create an obstacle for the members of the church. Loralei will go into the shadow realm and see if she can track down the family. We will finalize the plan." Ariana explained. "We need more bodies, it would be insane to think that just two people can fight off members of the church. Maybe if it was a few of them but her family is huge and chances are there are some magic users among them." Gregory said.
Ariana came back from her memories. She was completely sheltered from the rain as she and Gregory hid with in the forestry. "I don't think they are coming." Ariana said as she started to fidget. "Relax, if they don't come tonight we can just move to the back up plan. It's better to avoid confrontation with the members of the church." Gregory explained. "Aroha is quite intelligent. The rain is our greatest defense. Even if they cast a spell to s.h.i.+eld themselves from the rain, we can at least see them coming." Gregory continued.

'As long as the traps are set up we can catch those b.a.s.t.a.r.ds regardless.' Aroha said as she flapped up to Gregory's face. Gregory looked around Aroha and stared at Ariana. "She asked about the traps." Ariana answered. Gregory nodded his head. 'Good because they're on their way here now.' Duko replied as he turned his head. "Sh*t! We need to get ready." Ariana spat. "What they actually risked coming out in this weather?" Gregory said in disbelief. Rahul moved and rotated his ears, telling Ariana everything he heard while Duko confirmed. "This is a lot bigger then what was thought. Aroha said a team of 15 at most would be used to take down the Nahia family." Ariana explained.
"However, we didn't expect the entire family to be here." Gregory whispered. "Gregory we're looking at 40 members." Ariana said as her eyes trembled. "It's going to be alright. We just need to buy you some time." Gregory said as furrowed his brows. A deadly glint appeared in his eyes, he was mentally preparing for battle. "Rahul, please let everyone know what is going on, quickly. I'm afraid we may need to move to our contiguous plan and involve Halina's family, Aroha I leave that to you. h.e.l.l is going to break loose and we can not afford to lose a single member of this family." Ariana commanded. Loralei opened a gap in the barrier. Rahul and Aroha quickly moved.
Ariana watched as Rahul raced upwards, she kept her gaze glued to the clouded sky. "What's their ETA?" Gregory shouted as the rain started to pour harder. "They are just out side of Tetsu forest. If they can move like before then fifteen minutes." Ariana shouted. Suddenly thunder echoed through the area. Ariana smiled as she counted the amount of lightning that flashed above. "One, two, three, four. Alright now I hope Aroha could convince the Nahia family." Ariana said as she brought her gaze back down. "Can Duko tell who is leading the members? Is there a way to gauge their magical proficiency? We need as much information as possible." Gregory asked.
Ariana looked at Duko and her entire face paled. "Duko said he's not sure. It looks like they are using some wind magic to levitate the group from the ground. He can't track their movements anymore!" Ariana shouted. "Calm yourself! There is always a way. Duko, the trees are incredibly thick here. It's as if they were made of iron themselves, can you can vibrate the trees to see if there are any irregularities." Gregory asked as he turned to Duko.
"He said no. The rain is interfering with his tracking ability." Ariana responded. "So our advantage became our disadvantage. Then we go in the moment we have visual." Gregory said as he turned to the open field right before the house. "I'm going in. Loralei." Ariana said as Loralei retracted her barrier. Instantly Ariana and Gregory we're engulfed in the heavy down pour. "What are you doing?!" Gregory shouted. "You said this is a test right?! You can't just take everything on yourself and hope that you're strong enough! Lives are at stake and we don't need you to deviate from the plan!" Gregory yelled as he grabbed Ariana's shoulders.
Suddenly they heard an explosion from deep within the woods. Loralei set up the barrier again, as Ariana and Gregory held their breaths. The rain was too heavy and they couldn't hear any screaming but the explosion meant that the group ran into their first trap. Gregory released Ariana and wiped the rain from his face. 'Ariana, some people landed onto the ground. No trees were toppled over, seems they were not that far from the ground if they were able to set off the bomb.' Duko reported. "No, something is wrong. If they were levitating then how did they trigger the ice bombs? Confirm the number of church members on the ground." Ariana ordered.
"Leigh must have sensed something wrong and went to go meet them. Gregory muttered under his breath. "No! I need to go!" Ariana said as she tried to escape again. Gregory quickly grabbed her right shoulder. "Leigh is more experienced then you are. Chances are James, Roland and Tillie have left their posts and scattered to see if they are trying to surround us. They will know what to do when they run into a member of the church. This mission will not fail." Gregory explained. Ariana clicked her tongue and called back her memories.
"Aroha says we need to contact my grandmother immediately. Once we have the Nahia's location we need to immobilize Roland, James, Leigh and Tillie. From what Aroha has seen during my training sessions is that they were once soldiers? She not entirely sure but they will be invaluable." Ariana communicated on Aroha's behalf. "Close enough. Tillie, Roland and my aunt they all have a military background while Leigh and James... the were abducted when they were children to be trained as killers. If my aunt hadn't liberated them..." Gregory was explaining.
"How sick is this world?" Ariana asked. "You have no idea. So many people have died wanting to protect their loved ones but what about the ones held against their own will? Death seems like the best option, especially when your held in a research facility. Human testing, organ cultivation, battle arena, human trafficking, child soldiers, a.s.sa.s.sins and killers, the underground is not a joke. Neither is the church." Gregory said.
Ariana came back to the present and looked at Gregory with a deadly glare. "All the more reason to provide support for them! They are not just some tool for war or battle. They are my family and I hope you see them that way too." Ariana said coldly. "Moron, you would just be in their way!" Gregory growled as another loud explosion was heard. This time it was in another direction, sparks flew upwards and Ariana could feel her chest tighten as she instantly thought of Tillie. "It looks like the members of the church did split up.... Alright, we are going to have to use bait. We need to hurry this along, who knows how long Thor will last before he runs of of juice." Gregory said as he slowly let Ariana go.
'Ariana!' Rahul shouted as he raced back down. 'Thor is starting to tired to go on, he is pus.h.i.+ng himself. However he can not keep this up much longer!' He continued to shout. "Go back and tell him to rest. Davita can protect him." Ariana barked. "Are you ready?" Gregory asked Ariana. "The moment it stops pouring I will run." Ariana said as she gave him a single nod. Suddenly the rain stopped and Duko changed into his giant, golden wolf self. Ariana jumped on his back and held onto the tuffs of his fur as he raced towards the center of the field in front of the Nahia estate.
Ariana spotted light spilling out of the Nahia home. An large shadow was standing in the door way as Aroha went racing towards Ariana. 'I tried my best, they have an old, family familiar, a water owl but he's known to be scattered brain. I'm so sorry, they don't believe me.' Aroha apologised. "Vasu, go get Rahul and tell him to change. He will protect the front of the Nahia's home." Ariana ordered as she jumped off Duko. 'Ariana what do you think you are doing?!' Aroha shouted. "You're plan if failing and I will not have the Nahias lose a single member of their family! Duko you take the back. Do not let a single b.a.s.t.a.r.d through!" Ariana ordered. Duko nuzzled Ariana before taking off.
More explosions went off and suddenly ma.s.sive trees started to fall over. "Aroha I'm so sorry." Ariana said as she looked out towards the main road that cut through the field. It was a straight path that lead to the main house. Ariana took her stance and took a deep breath in. 'Don't you dare do what I think you want to do! They already a.s.sume that you are Evangeline's daughter, you can't confirm their suspicions!' Aroha hissed furiously. "Dead men can't tell secrets." Ariana said with a wicked smile. She then closed her eyes and looked within herself. She saw the red starburst burning brightly like it was a little sun. It's eyes turned into furrowing half moons as it stared at Ariana with pure determination and conviction.
Ariana walked up to the podium. She looked to where Charoite sat, his size was slightly bigger then normal and he was ready to go. She looked over to Celest.i.te and smiled as her round eyes sparkled. "I'm sorry but I won't stain your pure water with blood." Ariana said. Celest.i.te's eyes started to water as she looked down but Ariana could feel the fear deep within Celest.i.te. She turned back to the red starburst and smiled. "Your name will be Andesine. I don't know how much help you will be but I will appreciate it." Ariana said and the half moon eyes instantly rounded. The starburst jumped in joy while Charoite slightly pouted. "Don't worry I will need you too." Ariana said and held out both of her hands.
Both starbursts jumped towards her. Ariana opened her eyes and looked at her her right hand. It glowed a soft orange-red as tiny lights jumped up, leaving trails as it arched and landed back in her hand. Ariana raised her hand into the air. Vasu came back down followed by Rahul. 'You've done it! You have taken a step towards glory! Make your enemies pay but leave me at least a few. My claws are itching for blood!' Rahul roared as his chibi body turned into red light. The light swirled and flared as he changed into a ma.s.sive ruby tiger.
"Andesine!" Ariana shouted and a giant fire wave fanned out from her hand. A tiny winged horse slowly emerged from her hand. The winged horse flew upwards, the fire wave stopped moving and changed its direction upwards. Streaks of orange-red light swirled around Andesine and she started to grow. 'How? You're in your human form?' Aroha gasped. The winged horse kept growing until it turned into a beautiful pegasus.
"Charoite." Ariana called next. Ariana's left hand glowed a dark purple with a light pinkish purple outline. "It's alright Charoite. I will not stain your hands either." Ariana whispered as she placed her hand in the middle of her chest. Robed figures started to come out from the thick forest. Their blue runes shone brightly under the dark sky. Vasu turned into a pink streak of light and shot towards Ariana. He landed elegantly behind her as a giant, pink stag. 'I am your backup.' He whispered as he placed his nuzzle on her shoulder. "Save my soul." Ariana said as she readied herself. "No one leaves her alive!" One of the members of the church shouted as he rushed forward. His feet were glowing green as his body floated a few inches above the ground. "Took the words right of my mouth." Ariana said under her breath as she glared at the group heading towards her.
Leigh suddenly jumped from above the forest. Her bow and arrows armed and glowing an eerie, icy blue. Her clothes were in tatters but her face was shrouded in darkness. Andesine started to race around up above, leaving a trail of fire. She ran faster and faster, giving light to the area down below. Ariana could see how badly beaten Leigh was. Rage filled her belly as her eyes started to glow with murderous intent. Shadow clones of Ariana started to rise slowly. Leigh, let out another a.s.sualt of ice bombs, trapping some members but they kept pus.h.i.+ng forward.
More screams came from all sides, Gregory was being pushed back as he fought. Ariana could feel panic rise as she tried to raise more clones. It wasn't enough yet. "Concentrate on your task or else we will die with these b.a.s.t.a.r.ds!" Gregory yelled as he wrapped a member of the church with his scorpion steel whip. He allowed his magic to flow and the man screamed a blood curdling cry.
