She stayed in her bed, in her lying position, and kept blinking at the ceiling.
It's Monday already, and the final exam starts today onwards.
Lillian kept studying until midnight and went to bed at 1 AM, but within a few hours of sleep, she woke up at 4 AM. Unable to sleep or read, she laid there on her bed like a zombie.
It isn't that she wasn't tired. Frankly, she is exhausted, but her brain refused to sleep because she feared that the minute it does, whatever stored in it might get lost or become blurry. Afraid of losing all the revisions she did, Lillian chose to stay awake in her bed doing nothing.
…
Time – 5 AM
She stirred slowly to her sides and saw that her bed cloaked in books. Seeing it, yet again made Lillian worry about her memory power. All the topics she covered revisited her like a doc.u.mentary, going through each lesson.
She kept mumbling in between something. Finally, after 30 minutes of still lying on her bed, she woke up.
Her body exhausted but still had the energy to do more, one last revision.
Dragging herself out of bed, she collected the scattered things on her bed and arranged it neatly on her study table. Picking out just one book, she started flipping through the pages; Her eyes scanning each side of the view. Nodding to herself while mumbling, Lillian Grey did one last revision before getting ready.
…
Time – 6 AM
Edwin woke up from his sleep sharply. Sitting up straight, he flexed his whole body and then stood up to reach the curtains. He parted them apart and saw the dawn arising slowly. Edwin's room has a window bench as well. He sat down and took a glimpse of the night sky saying goodbye to him sweetly while the sun is getting ready to turn up any moment.
Spending a few moments of his every morning near the window by the bench, Edwin feels refreshed. Noticing that it is an important day, Edwin left the room to get ready.
He knew Lillian's exams start today. Knowing her personality, she might again skip breakfast and go to school. Edwin decided not to let it happen this time.
He saw his daughter working hard this weekend. Lillian stayed the entire Sunday jailed in her room. When Edwin went to take a glimpse of her, he found the girl to be concentrating on her studies.
Edwin felt proud and did bother to disturb her. Instead, he would knock before entering to give her food and juice regularly.
Edwin felt that this time, Lillian is serious with her final exams. Since it is the senior year, Lillian focused on getting good marks and graduate high school.
Coming out of his room after getting ready, he went downstairs to collect the newspaper.
Reaching the living room, Edwin felt a presence already lurking in the morning light. The image of a shadow moving around, Edwin peeked ahead to see a deadly Lillian Grey, on the couch, lying down with a book on her chest. It was the curtain that flew in the wind, giving it the lurking effect.
Lillian had come downstairs and opened the window to let in the morning air and light. She did her last revision in the living room eventually, falling asleep without her knowledge.
Edwin looked at her sleeping soundly. The image she had was too strong, hair all messed up and dark eyes from lack of rest. Edwin sighed.
As a student, exam times are tough to handle. Patting her on the head, Edwin smiled.
"You are working hard, champ!"
"Don't worry, you will do well," Edwin whispered.
Feeling the familiar warmth on her forehead, Lillian felt at ease, her brows relaxed as she squirmed her head slightly in touch of another being.
Placing the newspaper on the coffee table, he went to the kitchen and started preparing breakfast for Lillian.

Time 7:05 AM
Lillian stirred in her little nap, and then she realized what she had been doing.
Screaming herself to waking up, Lillian fell from the couch. Edwin came running from the kitchen after hearing the alarming scream.
"What happened?" he worriedly asked.
Lillian looked up to him and then glanced at the clock. Her eyes grew in shock, seeing the time,
"Dad, why didn't you wake me up?" she raged.
"Lilly, as much as you want to be the nerd, you should know about your health."
"You look like you haven't slept for days," Edwin exclaimed.

"I got worried that if you haven't slept for the past few minutes, then you would faint during your exam."
Edwin a.s.serted.
What he said was correct, and Lillian couldn't go against it. Wiping off the little drool by the corner of her lips, she stood up and walked to her room.
"Enough sulking, get ready, and come down for breakfast!" Edwin decreed.
"Fine," Lillian replied.
Edwin returned to the kitchen and continued preparing breakfast for Lillian.
Several minutes later, Lillian came down, ready for school. She looked at the table and saw a variety of items, some appealing while some not so eye-catching food dishes.
"Don't tell me that I have to finish it all," Lillian cried to her father.
"You are going to finish YOUR breakfast, not mine," Edwin replied nonchalantly.
"Sit down and start eating your cereal bowl first, you can add Milk to your likings."
Edwin helped Lillian and pushed her bowl of homemade breakfast cereal.
The cereal bowl looks new and not a familiar brand she used to eat.
"What brand it is?" Lillian asked after noticing some strange unseen cereal ingredients.
"I made it over the weekend."
Lillian became silent after hearing it. Without inquiring, she poured some milk to her bowl and took the first bite.
Her eyes lit up in the surprise. It was tasty.
"What is it, dad?" She asked in bewilderment.
"Don't talk and eat your breakfast," Edwin ordered making Lillian slightly sulk.
"Well, It's delicious-"she mumbled under her breath.
Obeying his words, Lillian Grey finished her cereal bowl quickly. He then placed a gla.s.s in front of her.
"What is this now?" Lillian asked in an 'I-am-not-surprised-anymore' tone.
"Apple and blueberry smoothie, It's good, drink it slowly," Edwin spoke, once again using his commanding tone.
'Blueberry!' – Lillian wondered.
She did not bother asking questions this time and took the gla.s.s and started drinking it, slowly as her father said.
After finis.h.i.+ng it, Lillian Grey waited-
She kept waiting for the next menu to arrive before her, but it didn't happen.
"What are you waiting for?" Edwin asked.
"That's it!" Lillian repeated.
"That is it," Edwin announced.
Buzzing to his reply, Lillian Grey looked at the time.
7: 50 AM
She has considerable time left to go to school without any traffic.
"Alright, Dad. I'm leaving for school." Lillian shouted from the living room.
Edwin dropped his work in the kitchen and then rushed to join his daughter.
"Lilly," he called.
She waited.
"You are ready?" Edwin asked hesitantly.
Lillian scoffed in a mocking tone.
"I was born ready, dad," she sneered.
Edwin glared at her. Lillian released her ridicule tone and a.s.sured him that she is ready to rock her finals.
"Okay, all the best and do well," he wished her.
"Thanks, dad" Lillian hugged him and then left for school.
