'Man, I'm going crazy!'
'This isn't good for me, nor is it fair to her too?'
'I gotta end this soon, or it will destroy my peaceful high school life.'
Lillian secluded herself inside the toilet. It seemed the best place to avoid any forms of contact with anyone.
After collecting her thoughts, Lillian marched out to wash her face. The coldness she felt when the water came in contact with her skin, took away the foggy feeling. She kept rinsing until both her mind and face got cleared. Later, Lillian came out to find that almost everyone had left the school except for a few club members, sports team and the usual detention gang who stayed back for their after school quality time.
Lillian's eyes searched everywhere and then slowly took steps exiting the building. She remembered the plan with her friends. They went ahead before her and are waiting for Lillian now.
…
Soon, Lillian Grey reached a children's park, which is their rendezvous point since childhood. So, Often time, Lillian and her friends would come here to discuss important stuff and soon it became their hangout spot.
When Lillian Grey arrived, she could see the park filled with a lot of kids and their mother's. A few families had their picnic time, and a few single moms and dad are sitting on the bench, keeping an eye on their kids who were on the swing, slide or so. The park is usually packed during after school hours since the park itself has a lot for kids to enjoy. The playgrounds, the grandparents' area where mostly you can see the aged people gather to talk and have a peaceful time with their fellow neighbors and friends.
As expected, she found the park to be busy and packed with kids and their families. Lillian Grey worked her way inside the park, tracing the path which connected the playground, kids' pool for swimming, the restroom, the sandbox, activity area and finally came to a secluded private s.p.a.ce which is their spot.
Lillian noticed Anna and Diego already present, expecting for her arrival. Their eyes met with the approaching figure. Lillian waved her hands as the greetings.
"What took you so long?" Anna charged.
"Nothing, I just cleared my mind then came right away here," Lillian answered.
Diego, still giving the silent treatment, he maintained a s.p.a.ce, refusing to face Lillian after their fight. Even though they reconciled, Diego's the sensitive type. Lillian noticed and approached him.
Diego's body recoiled away from Lillian.
"Are you still going to behave like this, dude?"
"I told you, I'm sorry. I do feel bad for behaving like that." Lillian pleaded.
It isn't that Diego felt hurt because of Lillian, but he blamed it upon himself. Diego felt like doing something to compensate for his actions and to get through the guilt stage. He suggested that Lillian wish for any request. Lillian initially denied saying that it's silly and stupid. However, later she had to give in to Diego's persistence.
"I need all of your 'Need for Speed' game collection CDs." Lillian blurted out in excitement.
Diego jolted in shock. If it's anything that kills the boy would be his video games. Anna exhaled thinking that these two would never give up their gaming even after they die.
'These game addict idiots,' – Anna facepalmed herself.
"WHAT?" Diego raged in shock.
"You asked for my forgiveness and yes, give me all of your NFS collection, and I'll forgive you." Lillian grinned.
Diego's mind went blank. He regretted his decision to give Lillian s.p.a.ce and felt that he shouldn't have bothered by their fight.
As the two were in a battle between their minds, Anna stepped in to knock their dumb heads. Both gasped in pain.
"We're here to help this idiot," Anna said while pointing at Lillian.
"So, will you both please stop with your non-sense addiction? It doesn't matter who gets the game collection. You're both friends, and so it doesn't matter who has it. You are going to play together aren't you?" Anna drove some sense into their brains.
"Lilly, why don't you start talking?" Anna's faced stiffened.
Lillian agreed and finally, they all got settled down for business.
…
"As I said previously, I received a confession yesterday after school." Lillian started.
Anna and Diego raised their brows in more curiosity.
"Don't ask me who it is? Because, I don't want to mention their name, as of now." Lillian declared.
Anna's brows retreated except for Diego's who still felt the need to know who that person was.
"Diego, I know you care about me. But, you also know that I don't like to be controlled or dependent." Lillian said making Diego scowl.
"Diego, you gotta let Lilly handle this. She can handle it properly by herself. Come on, now?" Anna suggested too.
Diego nodded, his face still frowning.
Lillian breathed.
"Alright here's a deal, I will let you know the minute I feel dangerous about this person. Until then, don't try to dig into the details. Got it?" Lillian persuaded.
Finally, Diego's frowning face faded and his smile lit up spontaneously. He only wanted to hear those words from his friend, even though he felt like knowing who it is, Diego didn't want to push Lillian as it might get uncomfortable between them.
Moving on, Lillian shared the details of the confession such as the request to meet after school, the hesitation, the shyness, the confession part, and finally the rejection. As soon as they heard Lillian say that she had rejected that person on the spot, Anna's face plummeted meanwhile Diego felt relieved.
"What the h.e.l.l is wrong with you?" Anna asked desperately.
"What? why?" Lillian couldn't decipher.
Anna realized that Lillian is never the type to think if she has to date this person only because of their proposal or not. Lillian had mentioned a few times on the past that she would never be in a relations.h.i.+p out of pity or curiosity.
"Nothing, continue…" Anna calmed down.
"What continues? That's the end. I rejected that person, but somehow I'm feeling disturbed and distracted from my usual self. And I know that it might be because this is the first time someone has ever told me that they love me." Lillian said.
She continued.
"Honestly, I thought it was just a prank, but as seconds pa.s.s by, I felt that person's genuine feelings. It felt real and as if that person had loved me from a long time that they felt the need to let it out or else it might have destroyed the person. I could feel the impact of those words. But still, it's not like I can return them. And so, I rejected it on the spot.
Lillian ended.
Anna looked deep in her thoughts while Diego tried an attempt to speak up. He hesitated initially; however, he still wanted to ask that question.
"Is it Giselle?" Diego asked in a lot of worried expectation.
Anna's thoughts disturbed as she raised her vision towards Lillian and Diego.
"Yeah, now that I think about it. You did get caught by Math man Seth for staring at Giselle continuously. If that's true then-"Anna words cut down when her mouth still opened in shock as she realized the chance of Lillian hiding the essential information such as the name only because it could be a female who'd proposed her. It all made sense to her.
Anna gasped in shock.
She shook her head rapidly, trying to get unconvinced herself that it isn't the real truth.
While both of them kept staring at Lillian for an answer, Lillian Grey's face showed no expression.
