Chang Wook was already in the boat waiting for the ceremony to begin. He knew he didn't have to make up any vows but as he waited in one of the rooms, he couldn't stop thinking about dedicating something to her. He thought about telling her he loved her in front of everyone, but he also thought against it. While everyone would see it as true, she'll most likely think its all part of the lie.
"How can I say, 'I love you' if it will be nothing to her?" Chang Wook widened his eyes, scoffed and fell on the bed. He realized that he thought the same thing when he wanted to confess to Mi Jin when they were kids. He wants to laugh at himself.
"After all these years, I'm still a coward" he whispered.
There's a knock on the door and one of his groomsmen came in. It was extremely short notice, so all the guys did a rock, paper, scissors contest. The last 4 standing would be his groomen and the last one standing out of the 4 would be the best man.
"The bride is here" he said "She looks a little nervous though" Chang Wook panicked at this. Does she want to call off the wedding? "She keeps holding onto the handrails" the groomsman adds.
Chang Wook suddenly has a sigh of relief "She can't swim" Chang Wook tells him.
"And she decided to have her wedding in the middle of the ocean?" the groomsman was surprised "That is some true love right there, brother!" he smiles at Chang Wook hitting him on the shoulder. He thought he was a lucky guy. Not only was his fiancée beautiful and successful, she also loved him. A relations.h.i.+p can't get better than that. He urged Chang Wook to get ready because the wedding was about to commence.
As Chang Wook made his way to the front of the boat, he said h.e.l.lo to some of the guests and thanked them for coming. He even pa.s.sed by the priest that would preform the ceremony who told him he recently met the bride.
"Your bride is a lovely young woman" the priest told him "You are a very lucky man"
Chang Wook has been called a lucky man since he got to Jeju, at first he didn't really believe it, but he was starting to feel like he was.
After a few other exchanges with other guests he headed to where the ceremony would be. There were a bunch of seats, flowers and even a wedding arch. All the guests were already in their seats and the priest was waiting by the arch.
Chang Wook looked out at the sea and saw all the boats surrounding them. He started to get a bit nervous suddenly saying his vows in front of so many people.
The music started and in came the bridesmaids and the groomsmen, in pairs, hand in hand. While Chang Wook's groomsmen where chosen by contest, the bridesmaids where chosen by lottery and surprisingly the maid of honor was none other than Mi Jin, which surprised Chang Wook.
Then it was Chang Wook's turn. Everyone applauded. He waved. Then the music stopped and everyone sitting stood up. As it started again, Chang Wook was taken off guard when he saw Ha Eun. He couldn't put into words how beautiful Ha Eun looked, he didn't even know what expression to put. He felt his face grow hot and started to worry hoping no one would notice how fl.u.s.tered he was.
The people sitting were also taken aback by Ha Eun's beauty. Some of the men even wondered how Chang Wook was able to woo a girl that was clearly out of his league. Since her family wasn't here, she was walked down the aisle with Han Soo, her arm wrapped around his.
"You better make my son happy" Han Soo whispered as they walked. Ha Eun looked at Chang Wook, his cheeks were flushed red and he was trying to hold back a smile. She wondered if he was truly happy to be marrying her.
Ha Eun scoffed which surprised Han Soo "I don't know how much happiness I can bring your son, but I do know that his life would have been a lot simpler if he hadn't met me"
Han Soo smiled "That could be true but how I see it, in this world, you've met people who are now a lot happier having met you, than they would have ever been without you" Han Soo said "Always remember that. Those the only words of wisdom I can give you for your marriage"
Ha Eun felt comforted by Han Soo. To think that just a few days ago she didn't want to have anything to do with him and he wanted her to cancel her engagement. Maybe from now on, Han Soo will also be kinder to his son. At least, that's what Ha Eun's hoped for.
Han Soo also hoped to get along better with his son. He wanted him to take over the company but deep down he also wanted him to be happy. He was his only child after all.
Ha Eun was finally right next to Chang Wook. Chang Wook reached out his hand for her and she took it.
"You look…um.." Chang Wook knew what he wanted to tell her, he just couldn't form the words "I mean…um…" Ha Eun looked down with a smile.
"Thanks" she said and then the priest commenced the ceremony.
