"Tianqing high, that was Miss Ru's high school."
"Yes, even master Gong Xi."
"Qin Lun as well."
"A lot of our celebrity graduated from Tianqing high..."
"Does that mean Miss Bai went to Tianqing too?"
"Oh, I was always studying then. I barely recall things that happened then. Were you my cla.s.smate? Or?" Fangxi arched a brow.
Xueyan almost laughed at her act. No one she's the leading actress even though there are better actresses. Good at heart especially. "Maybe Miss Ru doesn't have retentive memory."
Fangxi touched her forehead. "I'm really sorry. What is your father's name? Maybe I'd remember you."
Xueyan expression didn't change as Fangxi had wanted. Bai Xueyan was from a poor family so if she said her father name people would know she doesn't have a stable background.
"Mr Bai..."
"Junjie," Xueyan completed. Unfazed.
Everyone. "..." They had never heard of such name.
"Oh, oh. I don't know him. So I don't remember you at all." Fangxi strode towards the couch and sat down. Her leg on top of the other.
"I'm sorry for trying to make you remember. But you haven't forgotten about He Jian, right?"
Fangxi's head snapped at Xueyan. Then she chortled. "Not really. Who is he though?"
"Your..." Xueyan paused and it made the crowd eager. "...c" Xueyan's mouth was immediately shut by Ru Fangxi.
She had been so fast that no one knew when she stood up from her resting couch.
"That's enough."
Xueyan's raised eyebrows sang. 'Oh, really?'
"I'm so tired. Everyone should return to work." Fangxi shook her head with her eyes closed. She ma.s.saged her forehead like it was hurting. And soon the crowd dispersed.
Fangxi raised her head and saw everyone was out. "What were you trying to do?" She mumbled. Anger marred her face.
"You've grown into a very fine woman. You're no longer the old naive you. How many dirty games did you play to be here?" Xueyan's questioned made Mei Han's and Linda's mouth drop.
"You're a psychopath!" Fangxi screamed.
Xueyan's eyes glistened. She isn't a weakling, well they thought she was. Xueyan walked away with Mei Han trailing behind.
Fangxi watched them leave and felt like jamming their heads together. "Argh!" Why did it have to be someone like Xueyan that stole her position? Someone as nameless as her. How did Xiujun even come across her? Why did he suddenly want a change? Why was Xueyan acting so tough and mighty? She was once a dumb girl child sent to a very expensive school. A n.o.body by name. Why would a name girl s.n.a.t.c.h her role? There was so many more whys? But no one could answer.
"Don't fret over her..." Linda wanted to comfort Fangxi.
"Get away," she flung Linda's hands away. "She took over my role and you expect me not yo fret over her?"
"Miss Ru, don't allow anything she said get to you. Especially the He Jian part."
Fangxi shot daggers at Linda. "What do you know? Just be quiet!"
Why wouldn't it get to her? He Jian. That man hated her. Not only him. Xing Zhaolin as well. The only two men she would dream of having... Well Xiujun wasn't bad too. Happiness consumed her face.
She shouldn't worry about Xueyan, at least, s.h.i.+ya was there to deal with her. She was sure s.h.i.+ya would be able to break Xueyan's wings.
"Get me cold water," she commanded and Linda ran to do just that.
Xueyan waited for Mei Han to pack up so they could leave for the day. Xiujun stayed behind as they still had other things to do.
Xueyan called Xiujun aside and told him she b.u.mped into Ru Fangxi.
"Really? You know her?"
Xueyan nodded. "We went to the same highschool."
Xiujun's mouth fell open. "That's interesting. But you have to tell me when you get into contact with her. She's a pain in the neck. A rose with harsh thorns. Meanwhile you're just like sunflower, pure and always smiling."
"Hahaha," Xueyan chuckled lightly. "Thank you, but you have to be careful of me."
"Oh wow! Why?"
"I'm not as innocent as I look. Bye." She immediately exited with Mei Han.
Xiujun put his hands in his pockets. "She's too sweet!" He pinched the s.p.a.ce in between his brows.
Jingtang saw that and it made him frown. "Xiujun, you've gathered enough trouble for yourself."
Xiujun glared at his best friend. "Are you my best friend or my worst enemy? You only pray for me to get in trouble. You don't like or support anything I do."
"You tend to make mistakes." Jingtang response caught the Chairman's attention. "The President will have me killed if I fail to protect you. Your last rumour with that—" he groaned. "With Tang Wanwan almost had my head rolling. You'd never know how it feels to have your life threatened. I'm the only child of my parents..."
"And I'm not?" Xiujun scowled. "Stop lecturing me!"
Jingtang opened his mouth to say something but the Chairman held him back. He turned to see the Chairman shook his head.
He swallowed his words and continued with what he was doing.
Xueyan was a.s.signed a car by the Chairman. He had said it was provided by one of the investors. It had black tinted gla.s.s and a driver that was paid by the company. Though that was Xueyan thought. She never had doubts since she didn't know it's worth. It had the same features as Yuxi's so she didn't read meaning to it.
Unknown to her, the car was same as Zhihao's and Zhaolin. It's black-silver wheel differentiated it from the rest of FW cars.
They drove to the school and picked Qingran. It was Friday and normally schools dismissed early.
They made a stop at KFC and bought ice-cream with meat pie. Everyone in the car had their shares even the driver.
Qingran happily munched on hers.
They got home and Xueyan with Qingran climbed while the driver drove Mei Han to her apartment.
"Mom, are we going to the park tomorrow?" Qingran asked with food in her mouth.
"Swallow first," Xueyan said a little frown on her face.
Qingran quickly finished and drank mouthfuls of water. "Are we going to the park tomorrow?"
"Ask me something else Ran'er." Xueyan raised an eyebrow.
Qingran thought for a while. "Did you change your job? I have been meaning to ask. You get clothes sent home, you buy me so many things just like uncle. Tell me, did you get a new job or did the hotel increase your pay?"
Xueyan grinned. She knew her daughter had been curious but didn't raise any question. "Yes. I got a new job. Kindly, guess."
"What do I think?" Qingran pouted and it made Xueyan smile.
"Try dear."
"Another hotel... Maybe the one frequented by the President."
A giggled escaped Xueyan's mouth. "You're horrible at guessing. Very soon I'd be seen on televisions all around the country... And on magazines too."
Qingran chuckled. It was written all over her face that she didn't believe.
"I will be featured in the new historical drama Iron Empress... So very soon you'd be able to meet Xiujun. Your Xiujun."
