The Shadow Wolves soldiers have been through many battles and wars since becoming an outstanding army. They have looked death in the eyes over a hundred times and still never backed down from going out and fighting again.

However, at the mire mention on a plague, the soldiers had their tails between their legs and wanted to run back onto the carrier; lock the doors and get out of this city as soon as possible. Find authorized novels in Webnovel, faster updates, better experience,Please click for visiting.

When they could see their enemy standing in front of them, it was no problem to fight them to death but a plague was different. It is an invisible vicious enemy. Invading your body before you even know it, slowly killing you while torturing you until you finally take your last breath and you can do nothing about it.

None of the Shadow Wolves soldiers wanted to die in such a way.

Putting away their weapons, the soldiers who came outside with Ailwin swiftly covered their mouths and noses with strips of cloth.

"A plague…?" Braeden looked at the governor who seemed healthy as an Argali-Bobcat.

"Yes… Can we discuss this further inside?" The governor could see that the mention of a plague had the soldiers jumpy.

"En. Please us show the way." Giving orders for the rest of the crew and soldiers...o...b..ard the carriers to stay put until further notice, Ailwin, Braeden and their group of soldiers followed the governor and his advisors inside.

From the landing platforms the Governor led them towards the city center where their offices are located. The city atmosphere was dire. At was virtually a ghost town. Shops were closed, there were no citizens on the street, only soldiers who stayed at their post and maintained the fires were out. Anyone they did see on their way quickly finished there task and went about their way.

"Why aren't they covering their mouths?" Braeden asked at seeing one citizen scurry away after see them.

"We don't believe that the infection is transferred through the air." One of the advisors answered.

"Oh…" Even though the advisor told them that the men and Braeden still didn't lower the cloth from around their faces.

When they finally reached the government building the group breathed and sigh of relief, however seeing the state of the vacate building had their nerves jumping again. With only the sounds of the group's breathing and footsteps on the hallway's floor to accompany them to the governor's office, Ailwin could tell that whatever outbreak was happening here has the city terrified.

"Please, take a seat." The governor offered Ailwin and Braeden a chair while his advisors showed their soldiers to more comfortable quarters.

"Governor,"

"Kelim."

"Governor Kelim, please explain in as much detail as you can what is going on here?"Ailwin needed to get to the bottom of this. So far they hadn't seen any sick people but the unnerving quietness of this city had him worried.

"Yes, of course." Governor Kelim placed two mugs of a hot tea in front of Ailwin and Braeden before filling his own mug to the top with tea and taking a seat across from them.

"Sigh….."

Taking a long sip from his mug first, Kelim tried to gather his thoughts before telling the story of how this peaceful city turned out this way. Truthfully even he doesn't fully know how his city became like this. His eyes stared at the office's door but Ailwin and Braeden could tell he seeing something else.

"It started ten months ago, my advisor and I were going over doc.u.ments when one of our citizens said they found a burnt shuttle out in the canyons. As we are out by the Southwest border we offend find damage carriers and shuttles here once in while. Most of the time they are merchants who don't know the area well or have gotten lost due to the wind storms in the canyons. Occasionally it would even be one of our own….We first thought it this might be the case but on closer inspection it was too expensive to be anyone's in the city."

"Are there no wealthy clans in the city?" Braeden asked.

"There were, but they aren't as wealthy as to buy one of the newer modeled aircrafts." Braeden nodded his head in understanding and for Kelim to continue his story, "After sending out some patrols to secure the area, I placed a report in to the imperial capital on our discovery."

"Why?" Ailwin interrupted.

"...because the shuttle had two dead bodies." Kelim rubbed his forehead. Everything went downhill after they found that brunt shuttle on the canyons. He sometime wondered if they had never found that shuttle would any of this would have happen to his city.
