"Ok… So it was kind of neither." I said after putting down the letter. Aya was looking at the letter in a state of thinking.
I let out a quick 'Hm', shrugged and opened my bento to continue my lunch.
While I was eating my delicious lunch, Aya got some sort of mental reminder and said
"I know who the sender of this letter is! It has to be Kanton! He… uh, has a special mindset, sort of like you."
I said
"Ahh, So he understands that I'm below normal people? Seems like you guys do have some people with common sense."
"Well… Actually, you'll have to talk to him yourself."
Our lunch continued with a quiet and relaxing tone.
…
The letter that they read said:
"First of all, please die Kenjiro:)
Don't take that personal it's just part of my ideology, comrade.
Well let's get on topic then, I really want to meet you.
It has come to my attention through one of my information brokers(Who "Doesn't" rhyme with Ranami) that you have a mindset that is of interest and similarity to mine. Therefore I would like to meet you and discuss some things, maybe even become friends.
Let's meet after school, in the club-room;)"
…
The school-day pa.s.sed relatively quickly and we were now allowed to leave. I slowly went out to the hall and noticed a familiar face. Narino was standing outside my cla.s.sroom. I took this opportunity to ask a question
"Hey Narino, are we cool? Yesterday was a bit crazy after all."
Narino quietly said
"Yes, I think so..."
I answered
"Well, that's both good and bad. Good because I can stop feeling guilty and generally bad over the thing. Bad because I deserve to feel that way and now that the feelings have lifted, I kind of feel good."
Narino looked at me with an estranged look, almost as if she felt it was weird that I had human feelings towards her. To move on with my day quicker, I said
"Well now that you're here, why don't you help me force myself to the club-room?"
Narino simply smiled and said
"Sure"
…
"Man, that's a really long walk just to get tortured unwillingly." I said when we reached the door leading into the nicknamed 'torture room'.
"Unwillingly...?" Narino quietly commented to herself.
I opened the door and noticed that the room was weirdly lit. You could barely see anything because of the soft lighting. I walked into the room cautiously while saying to Narino
"Don't worry, I'll go in first to act as a human s.h.i.+eld."
An unknown voice suddenly spoke out
"Well, well, well, if it isn't the not so famous Kenjiro."
I got a smile on my face as I walked into the room and sat down in a chair calmly
"Kanton, huh? I've got the goods. Just bring forth the money and we'll do the exchange quietly and smoothly. I know you've been looking for these Bull t.e.s.t.i.c.l.es for some time now."
"Eh?" The voice reacted
"Yeah, I don't know where I was going with that." I said with a disappointed voice.
The lights turned on and revealed a young guy in the chair Anami usually sits in. The guy had an average build and had what one would call 'Emo' hair that overlapped his left eye. The guy sighed and said
"I mean… You kind of ruined the atmosphere that I spent some time setting up..."
I looked down in guilt and said
"I know, I'm sorry. I can see that you prepared for this a bit and I ruined it."
Kanton stood up and said
"That's just…
Perfect!
Just what I would expect from a human like you. We do really think alike, comrade."
I stared at Kanton with a confused look.
- Why did he specify human like that? That was some really weird phrasing. Wait… Is this guy's ideology really like mine? From what Aya almost said before, there's something suspicious to this. -
"Let me ask, what ideology do 'we' have?" I said slowly.
Narino behind me sighed and facepalmed.
"Isn't that obvious, comrade? We believe in the n.o.ble ideology of 'Human Extinction'. The ideology that all human suck and we should all die."
I smiled wryly at the weirdly pa.s.sionate Kanton. I decided to tell him the truth about me
"Look, I'm not your 'comrade' in that sense. I don't know what Anami told you, but that's not what I think. I think that I'm below people, that I'm worth less than other people. That's as far as my ideology goes."
During the progress of my line, Kanton's face had gotten less and less enthusiastic. Kanton chuckled wryly and said
"Well, that makes it a bit awkward and embarra.s.sing for me. Guess I'll jump out and end it all."
Kanton tried to move towards a window but I said
"Don't do anything I would do. You're way better than me."
"We're all equally bad as human. So you're wrong." Kanton said with his left leg on the window frame.
Narino was leaning against a wall and thought
- These two are so similar! Like, terrifyingly so. The thought that Kanton would be so willing to kill himself like Kenjiro is also unsettling. Bottom line: I'm scared. -
Narino decided to interfere and said
"How about we all calm down and wait until Anami enters the room."
"You're right if I was to die right now; I wouldn't be able to achieve my mission." Kanton said in a determined way. Narino thought to herself while looking at the people
-These guys are absolutely insane. At least I feel somewhat safe with Kenjiro, but Kanton frightens me in a way. -
…
A couple of minutes pa.s.s and we start arguing again.
"Obviously I'm worse at everything. Just look at the statistics, it's quite easy to see." I said in a convincing manner. Kanton responded
"That's not true, I agree that you're bad. But we are all bad and deserve to die. Just consider all the benefits the world would see if we all died. Global warming would end, air pollution would stop, Animals would stop being tortured and would have an insane amount of land to roam around in."
I raised my eyebrow and responded
"I see the point you're trying to make. But it's way too ridiculous to even suggest that we should get rid of everybody on earth. People live to be happy and they don't want to disappear, right? There's no justification for killing all humans because of such reasons. Those issues can be solved in ways that don't involve extinction of the human species."
"But of course there ar----" Kanton said but got interrupted by Narino who said
"Listen here, how about we stay quiet until Anami comes. I'm going to go insane if I listen to more of your delusional beliefs."
"Fine." Both of us said in unison.
The room suddenly turned silent and what was left was the sound of a clock ticking.
*Tic Toc Tic Toc*
I started tapping on my lap in an attempt to keep myself distracted. Kanton picked up on this and started clapping along in rhythm.
Soon, we pretty much had a musical number going. But after a lethal glare from Narino, we both stopped.
Kanton started up a normal conversation
"So… What do you usually do at home?"
"I usually watch Anime, read Manga and Light Novels. You know, nerdy stuff like that."
I responded. Kanton brightened up and said
"You too!? I also love that kind of stuff, what's your favorite show?"
I also got some excitement on my face and said
"Hmm… Let's see, There's a lot of shows that I like but my favorite would have to be Hantaa Hantaa"
Kanton nodded in agreement and said
"That show is really good! I especially liked the 'York Old'-arc and… Wait, why did you say it like that? The show is called Hantaa X Hantaa."
Kanton put some extra emphasis on 'x'.
I grunted in irritation, I said
"Not you too. It does indeed have an 'x' in it, but the author has specifically said that it's p.r.o.nounced 'Hantaa Hantaa', not 'Hantaa Eks Hantaa'"
Kanton said
"That doesn't make any sense! Why did he put a d.a.m.n X in the t.i.tle if he didn't want it to be p.r.o.nounced?"
I responded
"Well, it isn't really an 'x' per se, It's more of a multiplication sign… We're getting off topic, what's your favorite show?"
Kanton thought about it for a second and then said
"My favorite show is probably 'My Villain Academia', it's so d.a.m.n good."
"I know right, the characters reall---" I said but got interrupted by a door being aggressively opened. Anami entered the room like a mafia leader and said
"What's up dweebs? Don't tell me you're talking about some weird s.h.i.+t."
My attention was suddenly drawn to the newly-entered woman.
"President! Good evening." Narino greeted the president. Before Anami even had the chance to respond, I said
"What the h.e.l.l was that all about? Telling lies to Kanton about me?"
Anami smiled and said
"What? I wanted to test your ability to be honest."
I instantly retorted with
"No you didn't. Don't make such blatant lies right in front of me!"
Anami walked through the room and sat down in the chair in a relaxing position, she said
"But you did deserve, right?"
I sat down casually and said
"Yes… I did indeed deserve it."
I went quiet and Kanton picked up the discussion
"But I didn't! I prepared such a nice letter and had a cool introduction, but in the end, I just ended up embarra.s.sing myself."
Anami pointed her hand towards Kanton and said
"I don't care about you, so I lied in order to get a funny reaction from Kenjiro. On that note, where the h.e.l.l is Aya? Wasn't she the one who was supposed to keep an eye on you today?"
I looked at Anami and said
"She said she needed to do a thing after school, so she left me."
"That d.a.m.n traitor. Guess who's going to be punished? Answer: Aya"
I responded
"Yeah, we could figure that out from the general direction of the conversation."
Anami said
"I don't trust your intelligence enough to leave such important stuff to fate."
I responded
"How the h.e.l.l is that important!? Whatever, what are you going to force us to do today? That was kinda interesting, did you see the 'to do to(day)' thing I did, indeed impressing."
"Shut up, I don't need more of your stupid comments." Narino commented like a knife in the back.
"Ouch, Good job. I didn't foresee that, but next time I shall be more prepared." I said
Narino answered
"No like seriously, Anami was going to say something but you had to interrupt."
I said
"Enough, I said!"
"I'm sorry dude, but you didn't say that." Kanton said
"Not you too, this confrontation could be deadly. I currently have 2 knives in my back." I said in a cautious tone.
"Make that three, you absolute imbecile. Never leave your back open." Anami added.
I fell to the ground due to the mental blows I had taken at that moment.
"Whatever, ignore him. I've known him for less than a whole day, but I still feel like I know him a bit too well. Since Aya isn't here right now, I guess the three of you will have to suffice. Basically, I'm going to send you all on a mission. Recently we have gotten some calls regarding a student at this school going around beating up a bunch of students. We're sending you guys to go and make him stop, through force or not." Anami continued.
- Wait a minute, that sounds a bit familiar. Don't tell me it is...-
Anami explained
"The target's name is..."
-No… It can't be. -
"Kori Hanesawa!"
- For f.u.c.k's sake. I have to deal with him again! He's the d.a.m.n cause to my current problems! -
…
"That makes him defeated… These guys were a lot weaker than I would have thought… Well, whatever. Guess I'll go home and eat some dinner. I think I'll have Curry today!"
A person that Kenjiro would've recognized walked over the unconscious bodies of three students as he smiled.
