The sound of human voices stated me, I was filled with excitement, and at the same time trepidation about the idea of meeting real human beings, at this point even though I've only been here for roughly two weeks, I realized I was really starved of human interaction; there was nothing I wanted more than to just have someone to say good morning to .

I wanted to run over immediately, but the little blinking dot at the edge of my vision that signified the messages from the system began to blink even more intensely . And then I felt my spin go cold as pain took over my body . There was no inch of my body that did not hurt, even the tears that came out of my eyes as a result of the pain stung like a b.i.t.c.h . Something was terribly wrong, but I didn't know what, so there wasn't anything I could do to come up with a counter measure .

Thankfully the pain disappeared just after a minute, leaving me lying with a puddle of my own mess . Just a and I was in so much pain I actually p.i.s.sed and shat myself . Even though there was no one around to see what just happened, I felt so embarra.s.sed that I'm sure if my skin was fairer, I would be a shade of red that's never been seen before .

[You have been warned! The next time you consciously ignore the system for more than one hour when your not occupied with any activity, the punishment is death!]

[System upgrade had been completed . System is now level 2 . Shop and inventory functions have now been unlocked . ]

[You have two skill combining token, choose skills to combine . Two skills combined into one for one token, and three skills into one for two tokens . ]

To be honest I didn't have any skills that I needed to be combined, so without a doubt the tokens would be kept for a matter date . It seems like I just have to focus on something else as it is, when I have enough skills, I'm sure I would be able to decide about which to combine .

Advertis.e.m.e.ntAfter that, the system proceeded to give me an in depth explanation of how the shop and inventory functioned, and though most of the terms it used were strange to me and much too fantastical to be real life, I just accepted what was said . Just so that I wouldn't put my life in danger, I really liked being alive .

None the less everything seemed somewhat okay at the moment, and though there wasn't much change, I was okay with that . Since the system was offline during my hard labor, no new skills were generated, so instill had to go through all that stress again with the system online, for a skill to be generated from them .

[Mission: A group of humans have shown up near you, stay out of sight and investigate their reason for being here . ] [Time: 20 minutes] [Reward: +1 to all stats, +2 skill points] [Penalty: Broken collarbone for 72 hours]

Broken collarbone was an extreme weird punishment, but that's a punishment I have no intention of experiencing . It would take me a while before I get to the entrance of the grand hall, this place was as big as an Olympic stadium, and without a doubt there would be no small amount of monsters between my position and the entrance, and I was all the way on the other side . Thankfully I had a stealth skill, let's see what it can do .

[Stealth]

I didn't go invisible if that's what you're thinking, it was more like I had less of a presence than normal . Like I had become a part of the environment and could now be ignored as if I was nothing more than a common rock or plant .

Making my way across the grand hall was nerve wracking enough that I almost gave up, and that was because I came across other sorts of beasts patrolling the area and just doing what beasts did . And to be honest I would have been noticed by now if not for one thing, and that was the fact that the longer I remained in stealth, the better I became at it . It also helped that the skill itself was leveling up as I moved, so it helped keep me hidden from the monsters .

I made my way to the entrance of the grand hall and peeked outside; there were about a couple hundred steps that led to an even wider courtyard . The courtyard seemed to be made from some sort of painted stone tile, and the they had pictures of beasts, weapons, and this symbol spread all around ☯ . I knew that was the yin-yang symbol from earth, which meant that at the very least there was something I was familiar with .

The steps that led up to the grand hall was in total disrepair, gra.s.s and weeds grew all over it, and collapsed pillars and statues of weird looking lions were scatter allover it . The courtyard itself was not in a better condition, though due to it's huge size some of it's former glory could still be noticed .

Whilst most parts of the shone tiles were cracked or outright crushed to rubble, there were parts of it that were still intact, though covered with a generous amount of dust . The humans that I was supposed to investigate were actually all standing on some sort of flying s.h.i.+p . I really didn't know how it was being kept afloat, though based on the ma.s.sive engines on its sides and rear I would say my questions were answered . Quite a few essence beasts were gathered underneath the s.h.i.+p, but occasionally a beam of light would fly off from the s.h.i.+p, and many of those beasts would loose their heads .

I looked a bit closer and realized that said beam was actually a sword! A sword flying on it's own and killing monsters . Well this was not the most surprising thing I've seen since I've been on Huxia, but it was still pretty surprising . I looked up at the s.h.i.+p to notice that something was wrong, someone was standing on the edge of the s.h.i.+p facing a crowd of people who were pointing weapons at the person .

If I didn't know better, I would say that those people were actually turning on that person, not long after I made that deduction the sword that I had seen flying about flew into the hand of the person who was standing at the edge of the s.h.i.+p . The person made to attack, however there was another brighter flash of light, and a loud bang as that person was pushed backwards into the air . And then much to my surprised the person stood! On air! Like it was normal ground .

The sword in the person's hands released a purple glow as the person yelled and slashed down, releasing a beam of sword light that looked like it could split the earth itself . But a golden s.h.i.+eld made of energy covered the s.h.i.+p, and wards could be seen flying around the s.h.i.+eld, powering it up . That was an array of some sort, but I had no time to admire it as the fight picked up speed .

Four other people flew off the s.h.i.+p and started fighting with the person with the flying sword . Their movements were so fast that all I could see was flashes of weapons and the blurs of their bodies . One of them suddenly raised their hand and called down lightening, real lightening! From the sky, and even though the person with the flying sword raised her sword to block, the person was still struck by the lightening and sent cras.h.i.+ng to the ground .

Then all four a.s.sailant went back to the s.h.i.+p, but that doesn't seem to be the end of the fight . Thick storm clouds began to gather in the air above the courtyard, the wind picked up, and rain began to fall . In the distance some of the buildings of the celestial beast sect that was barely holding on collapsed for good under the onslaught of the fierce winds .

And then suddenly a bolt of a poisonous looking lightening flashed down from the sky and struck the place where the person with the flying sword had fell . I heard a scream, it was scream of pain and desperation . But even with thunder rumbling in the distance, and the sounds of howling winds and cascading rain, I knew the sound I heard belonged to a woman .

The lightening fell a few more times, almost as if those guys on the s.h.i.+p were making sure that the woman was dead . And then they turned and left, sailing their s.h.i.+p into the horizon, leaving behind the intense smell of char, and a feeling of death in the air . Even if this was a world where people had fantastic abilities, there was no way that woman would have survived all that punishment, without a doubt, she was dead .

It was quite unfortunate, especially seeing as I didn't have a chance to communicate with the other humans and find a way out of here . But to be honest I think that's for the best, those guys were murderers, I'm not as powerful as they are, so it stands to reason that they might decide to kill me . If not for anything, but for the fact that I'm a witness to the crimes .

[Mission complete: a group of humans have showed up near you . Stay out of sight, and investigate their reasons for being here . ] [Rewards: you have received +1 to all stats, and +2 skill points]

[Mission: Save the woman that has been betrayed by her comrades . ] [Time: 2 hours 43 minutes 12 seconds] [Penalty: Death] [Rewards: 5000 system points, 1 heaven grade bloodline, 1 random battle skill, 2 random life/auxiliary skills]

To be honest I really didn't care about the rewards, what really shocked me though was the fact that I even received a mission . In my surprise I couldn't help but ask out loud .

"She's still Alive?"
