Mr Li Jian was sitting down quietly with a solemn face. Though he was sitting, his dignified air was not lost. In the same manner, Jun Kai did not lose to his father. Both were so alike in many ways.
It was just the two father and son in the room and with everyone outside, the air was even more suffocating. Since Jun Kai had come in he had yet to speak of what he came for and Mr Li Jian had been waiting patiently for his son to speak. However, no matter how long he waited, his son was simply too stubborn. What was it this time?
"Sigh, what is it, Jun Kai?" Mr Li Jian spoke tiredly.
Jun Kai's hands inside his pockets were clenched in a fist. In the end, he gritted out the next few words, "Where is my mother?"
With that, Mr Li Jian, who had been calm before, jolted. The hands that were holding onto his teacup shook faintly as he tried to keep himself in his right mind. This boy, eventually, you found out about it, "Sigh, she's been kidnapped, like you probably have found out."
Jun Kai bit his lips and angrily turned around. He was rendered speechless, what was the meaning of his father's action. Did he not care that his mother was kidnapped?
Mr Li Jian put down his teacup and fold his hands together, "Look, boy, I've been trying to look for her." He wanted to say that it would be alright, but he was not even sure of it himself.
Jun Kai turned around and yelled, "You've not tried enough! All you would have been doing is stick yourself around that woman of yours!"
Nevertheless, Mr Li Jian did not erupt in anger like any other times, he stood up and spoke calmly with whatever was left as a father, "She's gone now, I've kicked her out. So, you can calm down and hear me out first, hm?"
Jun Kai scoffed, "Ha! What can that do now!? Won't you just bring another woman in? Aren't you good at that! You've lost your chance to clear yourself, Master Feng! Since I've confirmed that my mother is not here, I'll tell you one last thing; if I do find my mother, we'll leave you to rot in your own place that you love so much!" Jun Kai spoke despiteful words in a fit of rage. He stared a cold stare at his so-called father and left. His heart had been long shut away from his father.
Mr Li Jian felt like his legs were soft and weakly sat down again. He grabbed his heart tightly. This was probably the retaliation he deserved. He had thought it was not too late to reconcile, but maybe he had lost it all, no he had thrown it all away himself.
The middle-aged man felt sorrow from the depths of his heart and his face was now sunk into his face. Slowly tears that had not been there for a very long time began to flow down. Should he just give up everything? Leave this world might be a better option than staying here…
But Ru Yin needed help. Maybe one last thing that he could do on this earth was to bring Ru Yin back to her son.
A glimmer of hope seemed to light up in the darkness of his heart. That would be the last he would do for them, as a father and a husband.
Poor father and son, they had no idea that all along it had been a choice made by their beloved. However, it was also a punishment for both. Both failed to cherish a heart and broke it into a million pieces. The heart was only trying to repair itself, slowly but surely.
…
Lady Ru Yin was staring at the stars. Though many years had pa.s.sed but the gleaming light in her eyes seemed to have never left her. This whole day pa.s.sed by with her thinking of the people she had left behind. Hua had gone out a few hours ago to buy the daily stuff they needed and she was left alone drifting in her thoughts.
When she found out that Li Jian acted the way he did was because of that d.a.m.n potion, she was slightly relieved but she also thought it was not all because of that potion. It might have been her fault as well for not keeping her eyes on that Huan Jia. Sigh, how far we all have come to reach this never returning stage, tut tut.
She came to a decision in her heart, for now, it might be better to give some time off; give some time for everyone to think things out properly. Tomorrow, she'll leave this all behind...refresh her mind, and rest. She was not ready to meet him yet.
As Lady Ru Yin was about to get herself ready for bed, a hurried knock came to her door. She was slightly confused at first but went to open the door when she saw it was Hua. However, she was even more puzzled when she saw Hua hurriedly came inside and turned off the lights in her room.
"My Lady, someone is coming to catch you. We must leave now. I have already notified my leader." Hua quickly explained.
"What!?" Lady Ru Yin exclaimed softly. She was slightly confused with the situation but could see the urgency in Hua's tone and did not ask more.
"If you want to pack your pa.s.sport and anything important, please do now. By any minute they'll be here."
Lady Ru Yin nodded and went to get her important things as informed. She came back and nodded to Hua as if to tell that she was ready. Hua nodded back and took a peek outside the window to check on the flying bird in the night sky. When she saw it hovering down another part of the mountain, she gave a sign to Lady Ru Yin to leave their small house.
They both dashed out from the backdoor and headed down the mountain on their foot. In the corner of the black falcon's sharp eye, he had caught a glimpse of the two figures running out from the small house that he was inspecting from afar. So, that's where they were. He gave a signal to the men below to fall back and follow him.
There were only two people for them to catch, so it would not be a complication for them, haha. What kind of meat would he get devour tonight? As he thought, he licked his beak. They would not get far away from them, hmph! Tonight, his boss had ordered him to catch a lady and a lady he will catch…
Hua did not find any difficulty in running down, but Lady Ru Yin was slightly having a hard time catching up. Nevertheless, the lady did not stop. They were almost done the hill when a loud heart shuddering screech was heard from above. Hua could feel her heart beat faster, that bird found us, d.a.m.n it.
