"Retreat! Retreat!" Xuan Ji bellowed out with a monstrosity called his voice. He frantically pointed to the way out of the encirclement, which was precisely the direction that Fang Xiang had predicted. This, in turn, decreases the enemy's speculation of the Huo Empire's army harboring plans to counter this pincer attack since they thought that the Huo army can only flee away in fear, due to them wearing frightened expressions.

Ping Shangye was convinced that the victory was already in his grasp.

Xuan Ji's blaring voice was proved useful in countering the roaring cries and clanks of swords.

The Huo Empire's soldiers desperately fled away, following Xuan Ji as he led them to 'safety'.

Fang Xiang stayed behind, chopping down soldiers as she made her way to the back of the group, killing enemy militants that tried to sneak attack her brothers.

Her b.l.o.o.d.y figure remained behind all the way as she guarded the rear, slicing the incoming arrows into halves. Some of her brothers were inevitably shot down and fell, but she had no time to help them as another barrage of arrows was descending towards them.

Unbeknown to Fang Xiang, a particular general had accompanied her at the back of the group, helping her deal with another volley of arrows.

Fang Xiang who only noticed the presence of a third party, gawked blankly at the brilliant figure slas.h.i.+ng his sword, his blade dancing wildly, countering the new shower of arrows.

As if sensing that someone is staring at him, Guan Chengyi turned only to look at an arrow heading straight for Fang Xiang's head.

Guan Chengyi's eyes widened and he swiftly leaped up to counter the incoming attack.

"What?" Fang Xiang questionably stared at Guan Chengyi as she watched him jump towards her to the back of her horse.

"An arrow," Guan Chengyi answered coldly, comfortably setting himself behind Fang Xiang. He let out a soft whistle. Following that, a snowy white horse appeared behind the trees towards them.

Guan Chengyi kicked lightly on Fang Xiang's mount for it to start running, his own horse following beside them.

Fang Xiang, dumbfounded by the sudden change of events, can only follow blankly.

Guan Chengyi, noticing how obedient the girl is in front of him, couldn't help but tugged lightly on her waist adhering her back to his chest, then resting his chin on her right shoulder.

Fang Xiang had long stiffened, not daring to move or breathe aloud.

Fang Xiang can only shudder at the close proximity. She can feel her heart hammering, it beats so tumultuously that it seemed like it wants to escape her chest. It pounds even faster as Fang Xiang felt the general's flaming breath tickling her neck, his lips sometimes brus.h.i.+ng off her tender skin.

The hairs on Fang Xiang's back stood up and she couldn't help but squirm and put a friendly distance between them. "Don't get too close, it's uncomfortable."

Uncomfortable? Uncomfortable? This woman dare say that his touch was uncomfortable?

'S-system, what is this?' Fang Xiang couldn't help but seethe in anger at the sudden weird emotion that overcomes her senses.

'It's simply the original body's deep affections towards the general. It appears that her feelings still linger around.'

'What?! So how do I undo this curse?!' Fang Xiang growled inside her mind.

'You can't. You are still too weak since this is just your first world.'

'I hate this.' Fang Xiang replied to her system, her face showing an obvious frown. 'I need food.'

'...' The system was speechless at the unexpected reply from his Host.

Fang Xiang, who didn't hear a response from her system, broke out of her thoughts, she once again felt the same chilling air from before. She was now sure that it originated from the person sitting behind her. But she deliberately ignored the palatable tension, and just directed her gaze on her brothers who were now 50 foot away.

Fang Xiang's eyes widened, her red lips slightly parted.

'How did they run so fast like they were suddenly injected with chicken blood? They were clearly just a few feet apart before. How can mere seconds change that much distance?'

Unbeknown to Fang Xiang, the poor soldiers nearly peed themselves when they were abruptly a.s.saulted with the chilling air precisely radiating from their venerable general. In fear of being one of his prey, they bolted as quickly as their little feet can get to stay as far away from the general as possible. They can only pray for good luck towards their lieutenant general who was stuck with the devil himself.

Fang Xiang decided to disregard the strange phenomenon and stay focused on her present predicament. Why didn't the general just ride his own horse? Is he trying to tire out her mount so that he could escape with his own when a dire situation arises?

Fang Xiang had apparently imagined too much since their thoughts were comparable to the distance between heaven and earth.

Guan Chengyi, as if was hearing a broken radio from the previous event where Fang Xiang rejected his touch, couldn't help but have a sudden revelation. Did he smell bad when he was hugging her? But he did shower twice a day since he had the luxury to have a private bath, unlike others.

Two different people with two differing thoughts. This was how they kill their time until they ultimately reached their stop.

"We're here," Fang Xiang breathed out a sigh of relief.

As soon as both of them joined their brothers, Fang Xiang eagerly bounded off her horse, wanting to get as far away from the general as soon as possible.

What greeted their sight was giant rocks and boulders blocking off the pa.s.sage. Their only means of escape was cut off. It was inconceivable to propel all the rocks away due to them being too large and heavy. And it was not feasible for them to climb it since the enemy archers can shoot them down anytime.

They were now trapped.

"Surrender yourselves to the Jun Empire! You have nowhere else to run!" Ping Shangye shouted at the crowd of men in front of him. He then s.h.i.+fted to look at Fang Xiang, only to clash with her solemn gaze.

Fang Xiang scrutinized the remaining enemy troops. Since the enemy militants haven't entirely advanced inside the mountain pa.s.s, she should lay a trap to lure them in.

"Never!" Fang Xiang bellowed, her voice sharp and powerful. "We'll never surrender to you!"

Her brothers followed suit by shouting words of agreement.

"If so, then we'll just have to fight to the death." Ping Shangye declared as he commanded his soldiers to charge at the cornered enemy forces.

Guan Chengyi then led his army to fight against the enemy combatants, trying to draw in as much of the opposing soldiers into the pa.s.sage as possible before commencing the attack.

Ping Shangye observed from the tail, knowing fully well that this will be the end of the Huo Empire army, or so he thought.

Ping Shangye then fixed his eyes at Fang Xiang, watching as her gallant self danced in the middle of the battlefield. Everyone could see a white silhouette gracefully fleeting about, like the magnificent sunset, bringing upon red splotches of blood along her merry way, each splatter dyeing her figure crimson red.

Fang Xiang used a set of complicated footwork to evade, to attack and to travel from one place to another efficiently. Her figure flashed so quickly that before the opponent knew anything, they were already dead.

"Huo Empire soldiers, you are already at your last struggle! No point in dragging this out any longer!" One of the enemy lieutenant generals shouted in exasperation.

Fang Xiang narrowed her eyes as she studied the number of enemies inside the pa.s.sage like fishes willingly swim inside a net.

Fang Xiang laughed aloud, her voice like spring in contrast to the gore in the middle of the war, "Last struggle? From my point of view, it was you that is struggling by hiding at the back, coward!"

The unnamed lieutenant general roared raucously, delivering more of his men inside the trap amidst his anger.

Fang Xiang face lit up as she watched more men poured in.

Qiu Li, who understood her intention, further support her by aggravating the enemy soldiers.
