Drifting with the wind, jumping off a tree branch, Rais leaped over the roof, to gracefully skid onto the center of the yard.
"You saw that boy," Silver howled with excitement.
However, staring below Rais halted, noticing the detailed carving of a spell array. Though he erased some of the lines, it still connected eight separate runes, on each of its nodes.
"Mom, I will redraw this right away," Squatting down, Rais reconnected the lines by his pinky finger.
Despite the destruction of her spell array, Anila looked pleased with Rais's progress. "First stage of qi infusion, congratulations on entering the martial path."
Playing with his hair, Rais smiled, "I am a Martial Apprentice, right?"
"No, only after reaching the peak of the ninth stage of qi infusion, you will bear the t.i.tle of Marital Apprentice."
After reconnecting the array lines, Rais rushed inside the cottage to prepare for the practice session; thus, shortly he stepped out, carrying his bow and arrow.
"Not today, little Rais," Anila swayed her head, indicating she had different plans.
"Eh?"
While tossing a condensed mana crystal upward, Anila steered her eyes towards spell array.
"I forgot to ask, how many channels did you manage to locate," when Rais moved closer, Anila inquired with curiosity.
"I sensed one hundred fifty, why? Are they important?" Observing Anila's tone, Rais too grew interested.
"Not bad son. The amount sensed is an initial indication of the number of qi channels, one might open."
"It measures talent? Also, why is there a larger gap between every ninth and tenth channel I located."
"The gap indicates a bottleneck between small stages. Instead of starting from spirit root, the channel begins within the primordial qi domain to supply qi to a specific part of the body."
"For example, in the first two stages of qi infusion, the bottleneck channels roots into every part of the four limbs, to supply it with true qi. On each of the nine stages, the bottleneck reaches a different part of the body, to eventually incorporate every part of oneself."
"How many channels are there?"
"According to ancient records, there is two hundred seventy-nine total, each stage having twenty-seven normal and four bottleneck channels. Since the information is sensitive people try to keep their numbers secret, though the current known highest within Ranatelia is Grandmaster Westwall with two hundred seventy."
"Because of the extreme difficulty, almost everyone fails to open the last channel of each stage except a monstrous handful."
"Since the optimal time to reach the peak lies between the ages of thirteen and eighteen, you will pace yourself accordingly, and move on to the next step when you are fourteen or fifteen."
"Why not before thirteen?"
"Stepping across a major stage before thirteen is harmful to the growing body, while after eighteen, it is just wasting potential."
"To step into the second stage of qi infusion, how many channels, one requires to open?"
"Out of the thirty only ten, though it's unadvised."
"Can one return to open the remaining channels, or is the stage jumps a permanent block."
"No, they are not permanent furthermore, it wise to infuse true qi across the body at a comparable pace."
While listening to Anila, Rais obtained general knowledge regarding the qi infusion stage. After answering Rais, Anila tossed the crystal towards him to start the magic training. Although somewhat used to it, Rais felt piercing pain once again.
"Mom? How many channels did you locate?" Rais asked after dropping down on the ground.
"Higher than two hundred fifty."
"Then am I bad at this?"
"No, your talent just lies somewhere else. Although I opened two hundred fifty-three meridians, breaking my families thousand-year record, I couldn't defeat your father who only started sensing three meridians."
"There are too many factors when comes to strength, so stop over a.n.a.lyzing into it," Anila a.s.sured Rais.
Without inquiring any further, Rais constantly attacked his body with mana until he laid on the floor unmoving.

Arching his neck, he observed Anila placing a circular mana crystal in the center of the spell array. Then she strolled to each rune nodes, to set a distinct colored stone on top.
Knowing what they were, Rais summoned all his energy to jump up in excitement.
