"How is the complete one different?" Rais recalled his mother mentioning it a few times, although not in details.
"The pattern stays the same, just that the light, dark, metal, and lightning elements generate much wider courses, encircling the life crystal. Picture a large four-pointed star, placed on top of the smaller four-pointed star, to create an eight-pointed star."
"Is this an early form of practice for it since I ought to be a third level mage to create one."
"Don't get too excited over speculation and follow along. Do you recognize what you stand on? The spell array I drew."
Although Rais had doubts, he knew the first concept every mage needed to perform magic, the runes. One of the fundamental truths that govern the universe, The Nazar-As-Ur.
The runes, formed at the birth of the universe, the eye of the creation. That guides the cosmos in almost every aspect of its fabrication. To Depict their importance, people idolized the runes, calling them the hands of the creator, the common G.o.d of the people.
Runes exist independently with or without the magic as the basic fabrication of the universe. Over time people observed them, transform them into means of destruction, guided various energy and matter by their means.
Nevertheless, Rais concluded it was different for magic, magic relied most on runes. Since other powers had internal means of control, where mana, completely external, had none.
From what he learned from Anila, all that the fundamental of magic is effectively transferring correct energy to correct rune. Then effectively controlling that said result.
"I have a general idea of what it is." Rais's heart started beating faster upon the realization.
Thus glancing down at the elemental stones, Rais inquired, "What do I do with these?"
"Try placing them back where they were before."
Rais darted his eyes, "No hands?"
"No, use your feet," Anila cleared the confusion of Rais.
"Right, my foot." Placing the elemental stone around the life crystal, Rais admired its beauty, it resembled a stunning eight petaled flower. After setting his knee against the earth, the eyelids collapsed, enclosing his eyes. Concentrating, Rais used his mana to repeal them. Even when being pushed, the stones followed the same pattern. Surprisingly though, they moved at a different pace.
Aqua water and purple dark elements drifted away from Rais the fastest, accompanied by red fire and jade wind stone while the rest gradually followed.
"Does this indicate the resistance I have towards certain elemental attributes?" Unknowingly, he kept the process under control even when talking.
"Not bad, it always great to have more resistance than the affinity for the elements."
While listening to his mother, Rais forced the remaining four elemental crystals to the outermost. A schedule for the following two months, she explained in detail. Rais attentively listened to his mother, without obstructing his control over the mana.
Although exhausted, he tilted his chin forward to help him see through the narrow slit opening in his eye. He wanted to sleep right then and there, though a lingering curiosity of the end result kept him fueled.
"Mom, throw me a bucket of cold water." Upon reaching the eight nodes of the spell array, he didn't have the energy to smile properly.
Rais became a drenched crow intently. "Try absorbing mana from it and speed up the absorption, gradually."
"You are done for the day, no, for the week."

"How come?"
"Try observing the mana from the crystal at the fastest speed."
Rais compiled while the crystallized mana bulged through his veins. He felt, sharp shared gla.s.s stuck inside, from the smallest movement, the sharp blades explode to reach the smallest block of the body, Immobilize he screamed.
"Hold it only by your left hand."
"Now stand up."
Unbothered, Anila stepped close to the spell array, on the ground, she placed her hand. Mana rushed in, light projected out of the earth, on the spell array carvings.
Runes thrust upward, encircling Rais with the element stones and brilliant red radiance. The stones spun around him, forming a hemisphere of dazzling lights.
"Try catching the red crystal with your other hand."
The hemisphere contracted, the array scattered into pieces. Instantly all the stone shot at Rais at the same time, merging with his body. An explosion of fire engulfed the yard.
A blue flame burned intensely, blazing into deep scornful dark blue color. The color altered as it burned strongly, creating harsh sounds. All three houses burned, all the trees became submerged within increasing flares. The ground became a sea of flame along with all flowers in the meadow.
Anila stood there without any concern and watched Mr. Flame Berserker fly away after transforming into a phoenix. Casually lifting her hand, she extinguished the flame, It seemed as if there was no fire, to begin with. Shattering noise traveled from all directions, everything protected by mana lost their thin coating, while it merged with the surrounding.
With his s.h.i.+rt completely destroyed, Rais resembled a fried up charcoal. While, with eerie red radiance, a dense, intricate runic wheel spun behind him. It will accompany him, on his journey, becoming increasingly complex over time.
Rais knew he had entered the path of Mystic Sorcerer before lying silently on the ground. Only a flame remained, with a small elemental field, containing the first form of a flame rune.
Unaware of the small elemental field, Rais lay unconscious on the ground. The charcoal-like coating around Rais also slowly dissipated.
Dinna's grandmother stepped out of the house to check on the sound she heard a little while ago. Leisurely walked across the yard, she arrived at the center; although, she could no longer move forward from pressure, thus falling to the ground.
Anila glanced to the side to notice a large chunk of life crystal on the ground. Quickly she picked it up and crushed it into powder. Although Anila tried to help, grandma pushed her away to check on Rais.
Becoming enraged at Anila, and pointed her finger at her, "Little Devil, you can't make him approach the life crystal. Look what you did to our little Rais. Even my old bone can't get near it."
"Don't worry little aunt, he is tough like my uncle."
"If he was tough, he wouldn't be lying in bed at seventy," she became furious seeing Anilas nonchalant manner.
"How about you tell Rais some stories when he wakes up."
Grandma stopped for a moment.
"He really likes your stories," Anila had a smile on her face.
"He does like my stories, I will tell him about the witch and the forest."
While teary-eyed Silver bit into her leg, Anila slowly slipped backward. Nodding to her aunt, she picked Rais up, walked into the cottage. Thoroughly impressed with her son, An excitement hung on her face.
Covered him with a soft blanket, Anila placed her hand on his forehead and started circulating mana. She created a defensive array covering half of the house.
Stepping out the array, she gathered a tremendous amount of mana to crystallize the interior within a pa.s.sing blink.
"It will take some time before he wakes up, but when he does wake up his body should be much more familiar with mana," Anila thought as she crystallized the barrier.
Slowly walking away, she reached the door but petrified she stood. A noise, a numbing fracture. Her heart started to thump, and coldness ran through her veins. She became frightened, as she saw her son move his hand through solidified mana.
An ominous feeling stomped her body, as Rais extended his hand, and tried to grab on to the air. The crystal made a cracking vibration, while a spiderweb-like crack scattered to the corners.
"How is it possible to move within the crystal, so casually, when someone is unconscious."
She didn't have this much confidence in her own mana resistance. She calmed herself a little when she didn't see Rais make any more movements. He peacefully laid on the bed, as Anila stepped out the door.
Rais underwent a similar experience as he had twenty-three nights earlier. Within the barren desolation, he lied, staring at the hazy sky. To his failure to look to the side, he reached towards the gray emptiness to crush it, but he couldn't move his hand.
He gathered all of his willpower, but it ended in failure, once more.
Similar to before, he underwent similar experiences, one after another. He also heard someone says sorry to him once again, for the second time.
The sole difference was for the first time, not even a slight bit of a curse, had activated when he experienced the dreams.
