"I hope so." Lady Tong said as profound sadness engraved on her face.
"Let's head back home." Chairman Xu looked at Lady Tong with eyes that show genuine concern.
Lady Tong didn't answer right away as her hands continued arranging the sketches.
"You head back first. There are things that I must do before I head home." Lady Tong spoke in a such a soft voice.
"Do you want me to wait for you or do you want some time alone?" Chairman Xu asked with a serious look and warmth in his eyes.
"I want to be alone for a while." Lady Tong answered as her hands rested on top of the pile of papers.
"Okay. See you later then." Chairman Xu opened the door and left the room.
Soon after the chairman had left the room, Lady Tong inhaled sharply and continued arranging the pile stock of sketches. When she was done fixing the papers, she pulled open one of the table drawers.
Pausing for a while, she slowly picked up an old photo of her smiling brightly beside a woman who looked radiantly beautiful in a wedding gown.
As her eyes wandered on the photo, her fingers stopped and lingered on the woman's face.
With sadness skating through her eyes, Lady Tong spoke to the photo.
"It's been a while, Sky... How are you? I know you are watching over us... Help us find your daughter..."
Just as when her tears started to form and flood her eyes, a loud knock on the door interrupted her.
"Lady Tong, may I please come in?" The a.s.sistant asked as she stood in front of the door.
"What is it? Is it of importance?" Lady Tong asked as she carefully placed the photo back in the drawer.
"I will just bring in the paperwork for your signatory." The a.s.sistant quickly retorted.
"Come in." Lady Tong briefly instructed the a.s.sistant.
"Thank you, Lady Tong." The a.s.sistant opened the door and walked swiftly toward the table. She then quietly placed the papers down the table.
"Pen." Lady Tong stretched her hand out as her eyes started to silently read the first of the doc.u.ments.
The a.s.sistant quietly placed a black sign pen on Lady Tong's hand.
As Lady Tong started signing the doc.u.ments, she started asking questions.
"How's the other client? Do we need to make adjustments? How's the fitting? Too tight? Too loose?"
"The fitting went fine, Lady Tong. The gowns fit the client perfectly well. Especially Soar Eterna! The madame was really excited to take the gowns home."
"What did you say? Bring the gowns home? The client brought home Soar Eterna?" The old woman stopped signing the papers as shock took over her.
Fear registered on the a.s.sistant's face as she stared in confusion at Lady Tong.
"Junior a.s.sistant Lyn! Answer me!" The old woman growled at the poor a.s.sistant.
"Y-yes Lady Tong... But it's hers already, right?"
Despite her trembling lips, the a.s.sistant had managed to mumble a reply.
'BLAG!'
The doc.u.ments dived down the floor of the room when Lady Tong threw them out of anger.
"Weren't my instructions clear?! The Soar Eterna stays with the Queen's Wardrobe! It's not for sale! I just allowed them to lease Soar Eterna not buy it!"
The a.s.sistant remained silent as she tightly pressed her lips, refraining herself from answering back at the old woman.
"Is Chairman Xu still around?!"
"The chairman already left, Lady Tong."
"Nevermind! Give the client's address to my driver! I'm going to take Soar Eterna back!" Lady Tong hissed as she grabbed her purse and stormed out the room.
