Soon after the a.s.sistants left the room, Lady Tong sat down the green sofa with floral print and pink cus.h.i.+ons. Once she found herself a comfortable spot, she closed her eyes and drew in a lung of air. In her quiet contemplation, she thought of the events that had occurred earlier. But instead of worrying about the repair of Kiang Leilei's damaged gown, Lady Tong found herself thinking about w.a.n.g Reiji. However, no matter how hard she tried, she can't seem to recall why was the woman's face familiar to her.
'THUD' The door of the room produced a soft sound when an old man in casual clothes entered inside. But since Lady Tong was so focused on her train of thoughts, she didn't notice him.
"Are you okay?" The old man asked as he slowly approached Lady Tong.
Seemingly ignoring the person, Lady Tong didn't even bother to look at him. Instead, she just s.h.i.+fted her position and continued pondering.
"Oi! Old hag! Are you ignoring me or did you just lose your sense of hearing?" The old man yelled as a flash of annoyance registered on his face.
"What? What did you just call me?" Lady Tong's face flushed red as her once relaxed hands were now tightly gripping the cus.h.i.+ons.
"O L D H A G" Without blinking an eye and any trace of hesitation, the old man repeated the words in a slow and more annoying manner.
"Xu Yi! You old geezer!" In the seconds of Lady Tong's yell, the cus.h.i.+ons landed straight on the old man's face.
"Ho-Ho! My wife, you are not being cute at all!" Chairman Xu taunted as he picked the cus.h.i.+ons up one by one.
"If you don't have anything good to say, you stay away from me!" Lady Tong angrily scolded the chairman as she stood and moved toward the table to organize the jumbled gown sketches.
"I told you, take it easy. You already have proven yourself." Chairman Xu's voice became calmer as he walked toward the couch and placed the cus.h.i.+ons in it.
Lady Tong grimaced in silence with her gaze fixed on the papers.
"You must be tired." Chairman Xu ran his fingers through his long beard as he turned his back away to reach for the door.
When the tip of his hand had touched the metal doork.n.o.b, Lady Tong with a serious expression on her face, suddenly spoke.
"Any news about the daughter?"
"My men are still working on it. There are no leads yet but we should not lose hope."
"It's been five years since that fake news ruined the Xing family name. It is also been five years when CEO Xing disowned Yin." Lady Tong's lips trembled as words slowly made their way out her mouth.
The gloom on Lady Tong's face crept into Chairman Xu like a suffocating air. Still, the old man had overcome this and managed to speak.
"Don't worry, we'll find Skyla's daughter soon."
