"Screw you, jerk!" w.a.n.g Reiji's voice echoed inside the four corners of her office room. Good thing her room was soundproof that the noise she made did not make it outside, thus Rentao did not hear anything.

"Did I just wake up from a nightmare?" w.a.n.g Reiji asked herself as she wiped the drool off her chin. Due to her lack of sleep as well as exposure to constant stress, she had fallen asleep for about two hours since she started reading and signing the doc.u.ments on her table.

"Whew! Sorry self, I slept for two hours!" w.a.n.g Reiji cried as she threw a quick glance at the wall clock.

"Good thing I am the boss of this company or I would have been fired by now." w.a.n.g Reiji uttered to herself as her gaze fell on the now wrinkled doc.u.ments on the top of her table as well as her wrinkled clothing. She then decided to fix the mountain of paperwork first before changing into a new set of clean clothing.

After she tidied her desk, she stood up and walked towards the library wall located at the side of the office room.

As she approached the wall, her steps halted in front of the middle bookcase. Soon after her eyes landed on a bronze statue of a little girl holding a rose in one hand and a basket in her other hand, she quickly reached out for the object.

'Click!'

The moment she tilted the statue, the entire frame of the bookcase suddenly swung open, revealing a wooden door tucked behind the bookcase. She then opened the wooden door to reveal a hidden room concealed behind what looked like a library wall.

w.a.n.g Reiji was not really a fan of hidden rooms or secret pa.s.sageways when she was still Xing Yin. But ever since she became a part of the w.a.n.g household, she started to get fascinated by them. So prior to their transfer to Beijing, she had already instructed Rentao to build her a hidden private s.p.a.ce within her office for both personal and safety purposes.

The hidden room inside w.a.n.g Reiji's office was actually a high-security hidden room that when sealed from the inside, cannot be opened from the outside. She chose this type of hidden room due to her bad experience in the past.

Imagine, if only General Prosecutor Zhang Jun had this kind of escape in his office, that tragedy could have been avoided. He could have just locked himself in while he called for help.

Aside from being an almost impenetrable retreat from possible intruders, the hidden room was also equipped with communications equipment and a cabinet full of ammunition and customized guns.

The room also contained a single size bed and a mini refrigerator. The floor of the hidden room was also carpeted and its temperature can be regulated.

Soon after w.a.n.g Reiji finished admiring the contents of the hidden room, she opened the drawer beside the bed and took out a new set of clean clothes she can change to.

As she started to undress, her mind pondered on why she suddenly had a dream of the past. Specifically, the period when she and Zhang Chenric started to spend time with each other.

"Seriously? Among all of the memories of the past, my subconscious mind chose to play the memories I was trying so hard to forget?" w.a.n.g Reiji said as she unb.u.t.toned her blouse.

Halfway through changing into a new set of clean clothing, w.a.n.g Reiji suddenly wanted to find an explanation of why she dreamed about her past. She then hurriedly finished changing clothes and went outside the hidden room as fast as she could.

After slamming down her body in the swivel chair, she reached out to her computer and opened a browser to search the internet for an answer to her question. She then started typing the words, 'Why do we dream of the past?' on the search bar. After she hit enter, thousands of results flashed right in front of her eyes.

"So many results, hmm which one of these links should I check first?" w.a.n.g Reiji was overwhelmed with the number of articles posted online about her query.

"This one looks interesting, I can even chat with an expert who can help me understand my dream." w.a.n.g Reiji did not think twice and clicked the link that caught her interest.

As soon as she clicked the link, the contents of the tab changed immediately to a different website.

'Welcome to Define Dreams! My name is Steven. How can I be of help to you today?' Said the small chat box that instantly popped up once the link directed her to the website.

'h.e.l.lo, Steven! I would just like to us why do we dream about our past?' w.a.n.g Reiji quickly typed in her reply, however, when she hit enter, a window asking her to sign up or log in suddenly appeared.

Eager to find out the answer to her question, w.a.n.g Reiji wasted no time and chose to sign up.

'Sign up using email or sign up as a guest'

"Is there no end to this?! Come on!" w.a.n.g Reiji almost lost her cool when another window popped out. She reluctantly chose to sign up as a guest as she did not want to use her personal email to register.

'Welcome, guest1990! My name is Steven! How can I be of help to you today?'
w.a.n.g Reiji then retyped her query and waited patiently for the reply from the other end.

'It is common for people to dream about the past. It is the unconscious mind's way of sending you warnings when you cannot see or understand what is happening to you. Anyway, can you tell me more details?' It did not take long for the person from the other end to send in his reply.

'Hmmm... I just dreamed of my past not too long ago. In my dream, I was living in a past situation together with some people in my past.' w.a.n.g Reiji answered briefly, not disclosing any specific detail about what she had dreamed of.

'Well, that is because your past is linked to your future. It is possible that something big will happen to you in the days to come, that is why your subconscious mind is doing its best to organize your memory to help you prepare for what is coming ahead.'

After reading the person's reply, w.a.n.g Reiji momentarily lost her focus on her conversation with the expert as her mind kept on repeating the words, 'your past is linked to your future'.

"Seems legit to me. If Chenric and father were my past and Europa is my future, they sure as h.e.l.l linked to each other by blood." w.a.n.g Reiji inhaled deeply as she rested her head for a while before she decided to send her reply to the person she was chatting with.

Unfortunately, that Steven person had already left the chat just a few seconds after she decided to give him her response.

However, right before his message about signing out to a.s.sist other people, he sent another interpretation of her dream.

'Your dream can also mean that you are still attached to the people of your past. There is this possibility that you are hiding your real feelings that is why your subconscious mind is doing whatever it can to reveal these concealed feelings. We can also say that you probably missed these people that's why your mind did its best to make you relive the moments you spent with them in the form of a dream.''

"Am I hiding my real feelings? Am I missing father and... that jerk?" w.a.n.g Reiji asked herself as she began to re-examine her emotions.
