"Papa," Shuyang finally broke the silence.
It made Luwei's heart skip. Then, he looked at him to see his son's inquiring gaze. He knew the boy already has a hint about what he has been thinking for a while.

He shook his head, "Boy, Shuyang, why are you so smart? To whom did you get that?"
The little one took a sip from his milk drink and shrugged pridefully, "Papa, should you be asking me this?"
Luwei grinned while nodding as he said, "Yeah! Yeah! I know. You got your intellect from your mother. Don't boast or I might just hate her. She has always been your favorite, that sometimes I almost think I did not exist."
Shuyang gave him a toothy grin as his eyes seem to disappear, "Are you jealous of mommy again, Papa?"
The father just shrugged crossing his arms and legs simultaneously.
"You know you don't have to because I love you, Papa."
Luwei scoffed then said, "You say that now but you always said you love 'mommy' the most. Why would I not be jealous? I am the one who is always at your side but you keep on reminding me that you love your mother very much. I doubt you are ever thankful to me, young man."
The boy just laughed with his distressed look.
"Papa, I don't know if we switched souls. Must you talk to your son like this? This is the reason why grandpa and mommy are hesitant to let you look after me. Tsk!" Shuyang spoke as if he is already a big man in front of Luwei.
"You, ungrateful son!"
"No, Papa. I am, actually very thankful to you. It's just that you are more like a five-year-old between us two. I can always act childish to mommy and grandpa and others, but not to you, Papa. I also want to be a father's child, you know."
The man in front of Shuyang gaped his mouth open in amus.e.m.e.nt, 'Why does this child have to talk to me like I am just his age? Intellect will surely make one's manners rotten.'
"Don't ever think I'm disrespecting you, Papa. I'm just stating the fact. and besides, grandpa told me, I might as well be the father between us two since I am more reasonable than you."
"Shuyang, am I not your father?" Luwei asked.
Shuyang put down his drink and struggled in his seatbelt as he leaned forward then smiled, "No, Papa. You are my son," he grinned playfully, then continued, "Wait, until I tell mommy and grandpa that you lost me at the airport," he then retracted to his seat.
"C' mon, Shuyang. That is already below the belt. Didn't I treat you good always? Why do you have to threaten me, now? You know how mommy and grandpa are to me. They will surely kill me."
The little one looked away, "You are exaggerating, Papa."
"No, Shuyang. You know how they are to me. I admit I am not a perfect father but I am doing my best to be one. Don't I?"
Shuyang looked at his father, intently. "Well...that is true. So, what are you trying to tell me now, Papa?"
Lu Wei smiled, "My boy is the smartest."
Shuyang nodded pridefully, "I know right."
"So..."
"So what, Papa?"
With a sheepish smile, the father said, "Can you keep this incident a little secret between us, father and son? Just this once, baby"
Shuyang blinked a few times in disbelief, "Papa, are you telling me now to lie?"
The father sighed, "Fine. I'm defeated. You can tell your mommy and grandpa whatever you want," he put on a dejected face, "What did I do in my past life to be punished like this? Grandpa will surely threaten me with inheritance again and Cheng Jia will be mad at me, she would beat me to death."
Shuyang chuckled, lowly while Luwei looked at him cunningly.
The boy reached for his drink before he said, "Stop the act, Papa. You are terrible at it. I will not tell them about what happened today but you have to promise me that you will grant me a wish, whatever it would be."
Enthusiastically, Luwei raised his right hand, "I promise, baby. Whatever wish you have, name it and it will come true."
"Let's make a contract about that agreement, Papa so that you cannot take it back."
Luwei held his chest like he was in pain, "Son, why do you have to be this savage to show that you do not trust me? Please, just be a baby in front of me like you are when you are with mommy, will you?"
Shuyang laughed, "Stop it, Papa. It's not that I don't trust you, it's just that Grandpa taught me to be wise, always."
'Especially with you, Papa'
Straightening in his seat, Luwei said with a disapproving tone, "That grandpa of yours is teaching you a lot of things to torture me. And you are very willing to help him."
The little one just smiled knowingly as he shook his head.
There are times when Luwei acted childishly but it cannot be denied that his love and care for the child in front of him is genuine. no matter how rude and how many times the child favored his mother over him, he will always love him the same, or he doesn't have the right to be called a father anymore.
Shuyang yawned after his talk with Luwei, which did not escape from the latter.
"Baby, you may take a nap for a while. I'll wake you up when we will be landing. Okay?"
He was surprised to see his son's doubtful look. He mouthed 'what!' to him and the boy pouts.
"Papa, make sure you wouldn't forget that you have a sleeping son," he held a finger in the air, "Don't run around chasing girls who are very much inferior to my mother while I'm around. Let me be with my mother first before you do your stuff or I will make sure to ruin your future by telling grandpa you're being irresponsible again."
'This brat! Always threatening me with my inheritance,' he sneered, inwardly
"Papa, are you glaring at me because I am wrong? Or am I right?"
Luwei sighed, "All right, you are right, Shuyang. I'm sorry, it was my fault earlier, you got lost...I mean I lost you. It will not happen again, baby. I promise you. Just believe Papa, okay?"
Shuyang arched his brow.
"I swear with my life and inheritance, baby," Luwei promised, sincerely.
The boy shrugged smiling.
"Okay, Papa. I believe you. I love you, Papa."
'This boy, really. How can he control me easily in his palm? So much like his mother.'
