"Mommy!" a voice echoed.
A smile formed on Jian's face while Cheng Jia was waving as if she has seen her idol. Then she bent and opened her arms wide as Shuyang begins to run over her with a very happy face. The boy ran as fast as he can just feel his mother's warm embrace. Until, finally, he was enveloped by this mother. Cheng Jia inhaled as he choked back the sob that wants to escape from her throat.
The little one buried his face to his mother's chest. The latter rubbed the boy's back to calm him for she knows he is getting emotional.
"You are finally here, baby," she said in a low loving voice while her eyes are closed.
Cheng Jia held her son's shoulders as she retracted to check her son's face, then broke into a wide smile while Shuyang just blinked innocently.
She cupped her son's cheek, "Still the most handsome above all," Cheng Jia said to her son.
Shuyang gave her mother a toothy grin, "That is because I am just like my pretty mommy."
Arching her brow, Cheng Jia said, "Still a sweet talker," as she pinched her child's cheek, then she kissed his temple, "I missed you, baby."
She hugged him and the little one hugged her back, "I missed you too, mommy. I love you."
"I love you the most, baby."
It was a sight to behold. A sight of a loving mother and son.
"C' mon, you guys. You are making me jealous," a voice broke the loving scene.
"Luwei," Cheng Jian greeted with a nod, which was replied with "Jian" by Luwei.
Cheng Jia stood up, holding her son's hand while looking at the man standing in front of her.
"As always. You always break the most crucial moment," she accused him.
Luwei angled his head, staring at the Cheng Jia's delicate figure. She was wearing a neat line dress in a shade of baby pink and a long white coat, "Lil Sis, did I miss something? You look different today. Have you finally gone out for a date?" he asked, smirking.
Cheng Jia hissed, "Don't let your imagination gets wild, Luwei. Big Sis and I hurried here from work that is why I haven't had the time to change."
Luwei touched his chin as if thinking, then nod in approval as he raised a thumb, "Whatever your new work, Lil Sis, I approved it. You are becoming a b.u.t.terfly now."
Cheng Jia rolled her eyes.
"But Papa, mommy is always very pretty. Unlike the girls, you have dated. They didn't even compare to mommy's nails," Shuyang b.u.t.t in.
Jian and Cheng Jia chuckled when they saw Luwei's defeated look when he heard Shuyang speak for her mother.
Cheng Jia ruffled her son's head, "My little Shuyang is very filial."

"You two..." Luwei was about to say something but he received a threatening glare from Shuyang which seems to say 'Papa, didn't we have a little secret?'
He sighed, "C' mon, Let's go now, let me send you home before I go home."
The three just shrugged then walked to the exit of the airport, leaving Luwei behind with both of Shuyang and his baggage. He sighed, "I think I have made a very big mistake in my past life to be treated like this," he muttered as he followed the three.
Inside the car, Luwei explained that his grandfather already arranged a house for him to stay. He also said that originally, the house was also for Cheng Jia and Shuyang to live with him, but Cheng Jia refused to stay with him, so they can just visit him anytime there.
The plan was for Luwei to send them to their apartment, but it changed when Jian complained that she is hungry. Instead of going home directly, all of them dined in the nearest restaurant. It was a wonderful restaurant with other families dining.
Shuyang while scanning the entirety of the place has seen a father and son tandem who are happily dining. He looked away immediately but it did not escape Cheng Jia's eyes. She bit the inside of her cheek in guilt.
'I'm sorry, baby,' she apologized inwardly.
Maybe because everybody wants to retire for the day that inside the car on their way home, everyone fell silent. Luwei drove quietly while Jian was busy organizing something on her phone.
"Mommy," Shuyang who was lying on her mother's lap broke the silence.
Shuyang's voice seems to be sad in Cheng Jia's ears and it breaks her heart but she doesn't show it.
"Yes, baby?"
"Mommy, at the airport..." Shuyang started.
Luwei panicked with the mention of 'airport', 's.h.i.+t! This rascal. Is he going to tell his mother about what happened?'
"What is it that you want to tell your mother, Shuyang?" he asked.
Shuyang knew what Luwei meant and he just rolled his eyes.
"Luwei, don't interrupt my son. Are you hiding something?"
The man who was driving waved his one hand in defense, "Me? Nothing. I'm not hiding anything. Why would I?" Then he laughed awkwardly.
"Then shut it. And stop laughing awkwardly," Cheng Jia said, irritatingly at him which was only answered with a slight nod. "What is it that you want to ask, baby?" she asked Shuyang while she played with his hair.
Shuyang adjusted his position, "Mommy, I met someone in the airport while waiting for Papa."
"And then?"
"He was very kind and handsome, mommy. And when Papa arrived, I slightly heard the ladies who are working there that I look like him."
Both Cheng Jia and Luwei felt Shuyang's sadness with his voice. Though he is a very positive and smart child, they are aware that questions still linger in his mind. Questions that have something to do with his existence.
"Mommy, could that man be my daddy?" Cheng Jia paused playing with her son's locks while Jian stopped typing on her phone, "I feel very at ease with him and I know that he feels the same. He's been looking at my eyes, mommy."
"Shuyang, don't think much about it, maybe that man was just amazed at how beautiful your eyes are. You knew very well that only both you and mommy have striking eyes, right?" Luwei answered on behalf of Cheng Jia.
Shuyang sat erect and reasoned to his father, "But Papa, he listened to my heart like how mommy listened to it when I am sick."
Cheng Jia was confused about what her son said.
'Listened to his heart? Could it be...' she thought, biting her lip as she held her chest.
Luwei caught Cheng Jia's reaction, as well as Jian. They looked at each other before Luwei said, "What if he did? Have I not done that to you, too?"
The boy looked down upon hearing Luwei, then scowled as he retorted to Luwei's face, "But Papa, I know for certain that you aren't my father. You are my father in my heart but you're not the one who knead me with mommy, right mommy?"
All three adults' eyes grew big. Cheng Jia's mouth even gaped open.
"Shuyang, baby, what do you mean knead you?" after asking this, Cheng Jia felt stupid. Actually, she did not how to respond to what her son said. This seems like a censored topic.
"I heard it from grandpa's maid that when a man and woman love each other, they will knead dough to make one of their own. And for nine long months, they will wait for the little bun to be fully cooked before it is taken out from the oven."
Cheng Jia was horrified. "Luwei, what, exactly, do your grandpa's maids taught to my child? Why is he speaking gibberish now?"
Luwei was not able to answer, anymore.
'Grandpa's maids, really!'
Seeing that his mommy and Papa were shocked, "Aunt Jian, I am the bun, right?" he asked his Aunt, innocently which was only answered with a nod, "Then, where is my daddy? Why couldn't I be with him?"
"I...ahhhh... he left before you are taken out from the oven," Jian answered.
"Big Sis!"
Jian straightened in her seat as she averted her gaze outside.
"Mommy, what did my daddy looked like?"
Cheng Jia for this matter doesn't know how to respond, "Well..."
"Daddy looked like me, minus my eyes, right mommy?"
The mother nodded, but she could only a.s.sume.
"Then, could that man be my father?"
Cheng Jia sighed for she really doesn't know the answer, "Baby, can you scoot over?"
The little one complied with his mother's request.
Cheng Jia held her son's cheek, "Shuyang, my intelligent baby, I know you have a lot of questions in your mind that I cannot answer with mere a.s.sumptions. Mommy for this matter is apologetic to you," she said looking straight at her son's eyes, "However, mommy is trying her best to be able to find the answers. One thing is for sure, I am not hiding you from your daddy, baby. Once everything is cleared, I will let you meet him. Just like you, I also want to see him. So... can we park this topic for now?" she asked her son with misty eyes.
Shuyang obediently nodded, then he hugged his mother as Cheng Jia kissed her son's temple. She knew Shuyang's longing. A longing that even Luwei cannot fulfill.
Jian focused her gaze on the road, silently.
'I'm sorry, Jiajia.'
