Grim Reaper hissed as its black robe was set on fire. It was caused by 'h.e.l.l's Mark,' which was triggered by Udil's skill - Devil's Tongue.
The surrounding coils of black smoke in the monster's body immediately started to wane.
An opening!
"Now." Zaito's expression was grim as he sent a message in their team chat. The damage output of Udil had surprised him. It was stronger by folds than JanuaryEmbers.
In exchange for invulnerability from Physical Damages, the Undead Race receives an extra 55% increased magical damage from Fire Elemental Skills. Udil also happened to have used the buff from the 'Firefly Oil,' further boosting his fire attacks with another 40% amplified damage.
So, it was no wonder why Udil's skill had a ma.s.sive damage output, against a level twenty monster. However, Zaito was negligent of these factors, concerning Al's in-game character, causing him to have a somehow inaccurate a.s.sessment of the latter's strength. He was starting to overestimate Al Gentrix.
Zhahk and Boba were not stupid; they only used their basic skills to test the waters, with the aid of the other four illusions. Monsters were not to be treated like players, although they were categorized using the same ranking system. One must always be open-minded and flexible when it comes to dealing with these units.
If you never try, you'll never know.
Prodding Needle!
The real Boba was the first to reach Grim Reaper's burning body. The rapier in his hand lunged quickly, puncturing the black cloak.
Diagonal Execution!
Meanwhile, Zhahk held his two daggers near his left hip as he twisted in the air and diagonally slashed his pointed blades at the back of Grim Reaper. One of his two illusions that were conjured by Zaito did the same, creating a symmetrical attack. Claws of red marks appeared on the ma.s.sive rear of the monster.
"Fools!" Grim Reaper was previously facing Udil when the two from Burning Orient and the other four illusions attacked. The monster immediately turned around and slashed its scythe. Zhahk and Boba were still airborne, and the size of the weapon made it hard for them to evade the violent sweep completely.
Clang!
Pilades and the four illusions suddenly jumped to save the two attackers. The Divine Vanguard blocked the attack with his two measly bucklers, while the four illusions tried their best to parry the slash with their weapons.
As a consequence, Pilades was sent flying to the sidelines, his HP decreasing by a large chunk with only 60% remaining, while the four doppelgangers instantly poofed, leaving only five illusions, who were still busy in fending off the corpses that were surrounding Zaito and Embers.
'Tsk.' Zaito chuckled. 'This is troublesome.'
What bad timing!
Grim Reaper was enjoying the unique pa.s.sive skill from the Undead Race - Shrouded Skin, which grants the monster an invulnerability against physical damages. As a result, the previous attacks from Boba and Zhahk did not cause any harm.
Aside from Zaito, who was running low on mana, only JanuaryEmbers has magical skills, but the latter's damage could barely make a difference to the health of the Undead Exorcist.
Meanwhile, Macca and SwitchFoot were just about to attack, but when they saw that their efforts would just be futile, they were at a loss. Only Al could carry them now.
On the other hand, Al was having the time of his life. The skill, 'Piston Lungs,' imbued all of his attacks with the fire element. Aside from JanuaryEmbers, only he could adequately control the aggro of Grim Reaper. Wild ideas started to play in his mind.
The boy's a bit naughty.
He charged towards Grim Reaper, the flamberge in his hand transforming into a bow.
Swoos.h.!.+ Swoos.h.!.+
Al kept on firing burning arrows toward the monster as he circled it, his sense of direction was clear as day - towards the area of Burning Orient!
"Hey! Where are you going?" Pat noticed the abnormalities in Udil's movements.
"Boss! Bring me with you!" Papa Bear immediately left CancerIsLife, leaving the latter amidst the attacks of the corpses. He charged his way through the mobs.
"Hey! How will I defend myself against these monsters? You dimwit, come back here!" CancerIsLife was enraged. He did not have any offensive skills, aside from his basic attacks. However, Papa Bear did not bat him any attention as he continued to charge.
Macca could only chuckle as he and SwitchFoot came to rescue the dwarf. Papa Bear and Udil have their own worlds. Jack could only helplessly watch how the match will progress and act accordingly.
"Hey, Al! What's the plan? Mind sharing?" The white-skinned goblin immediately sent a query in their team chat.
" :))) too long to type. Just defend yourselves. I got this. " Al simply replied.

'A changing weapon?' Zaito was keeping a vigilant stance, since the moment he heard about Udil's presence. The Divine Magician immediately noticed the transformation of Al's weapon. 'Looks like, he's the more troublesome fellow in this battlefield. Tsk.'
"Here, I come! Come here, you, little boy!" Papa Bear shouted from a distance. No one knew, who he was taunting as his echoing voice disturbed Zaito's thoughts.
The last time that Zaito saw this orc and human working together, nothing good followed, only trouble! Pilades was still picking up himself, leaving the team captain of Burning Orient in a vulnerable spot.
"Boba. Zhahk. Stop Udil! Embers focus on attacking the monster!" The Divine Magician immediately warned as he surveyed the battlefield.
The Divine a.s.sa.s.sin and Swordsman immediately changed their route, evading the corpses that were loitering in the area. They weaved their way through, forming a pincer.
Meanwhile, Al was still busy attacking Grim Reaper as he moved. His basic attacks were capable of damage within 1 to 2% of the monster's HP. He seemed to be ignorant of the ambush that was about to come. However, it was all a feint.
Plugger!
Zhahk made the first move; his daggers glowed with a green aura. However, just when he was about to throw his blades, he happened to glimpse a scythe heading towards his direction.
"Dodge!" Zaito's warning was a half-beat too late.
The Divine a.s.sa.s.sin was barely able to dodge the scythe's broad trajectory; however, a streak of blue lightning suddenly appeared after the slash of the Grim Reaper.
Skull Basher!
All he saw was the increasing size of a blue hammer as it neared his eyes. It was held by a grinning orc, with mad eyes - Papa Bear!
"Thanks, Papa Bear!" Udil grinned as he dodged the swinging scythe from Grim Reaper. Boba, no longer dared to tangle with him as the former immediately came to rescue his team's a.s.sa.s.sin from Papa Bear.
The boy had intentionally positioned himself to take advantage of the monster, using its attacks for his benefit. He continued to charge towards the location of Embers and Zaito.
"This guy. His intention is too obvious." Embers commented as he shot a glance towards Zaito, expecting a command.
"Tsss. Do I really need to tell you what to do?" Zaito grinned. He and Embers simultaneously charged to meet Udil. The latter was obviously trying to lure the boss towards their location. Well, the counter-measure was simply a reverse of the intention! Merge with your enemies' position! We're all in this together!
"They're charging over here!" CancerIsLife warned. He was not in a tight spot anymore against the endless sp.a.w.n of corpses, with the aid of Macca and SwitchFoot. As a result, he was able to observe the development of the battle.
Deck Slicer!
Rain of Fire!
Zaito and JanuaryEmbers simultaneously used their skills to greet the charging Udil, with Grim Reaper at his tail.
There was nowhere to dodge. The skills swallowed Udil and Grim Reaper. However, only Deck Slicer managed to deal some damage to Al's character, due to the effect of 'Firefly Oil' that granted him complete resistance from fire damages.
Grim Reaper growled upon receiving the attack from Zaito and Embers. Two black coils of smoke in the monster's body instantly shot forward, intending to impale the position of the two casters. Al was running between the swirling energies. He seemed to have the Undead Exorcist as an ally.
"Dodge!" Zaito and Embers cleared the way as they evaded the attack, allowing Udil to pa.s.s through their positions safely.
'What is this man trying to do?' Zaito was at a loss.
Udil was now all alone in the previous location of the Burning Orient. In front of him was the looming Grim Reaper, and the corpses tangling with the illusions created by Zaito's Magic World, and the other nine players.
"It's time!" Al grinned.
