"You b.a.s.t.a.r.d!" I wanted to throw another fireball but Moonlight would be used again as a meats.h.i.+eld again by this old man. This is not a deliberate movement of Moonlight but a manipulation caused by the old man. Whenever I am going to attack, he will use Moonlight to deal with my attacks which is kind of despicable.

"Now, what will you do kid? Whatever you do, this girl would suffer the attacks that are meant for me and if you deal damage lethal enough for her, she is dead meat."

I gritted my teeth while looking at them. Moonlight is weakened enough from the attack of the chief and now I added another damage to her. I made it horrible for Moonlight. I shouldn't have used that attack to the chief.

If I want to defeat the chief, I have to defeat him using close-quarter combat which is not my forte. I excel more in range attacks and I suck at close-quarter combat. If I was proficient in this style, I wouldn't be bullied and just rely on my fist to negotiate against my bullies.

My mind is on disarray right now. I have to defeat the chief but I can't hurt Moonlight either.

As I was trying to formulate a plan, I saw Catmod, Maple, and Miya running towards our direction.

"Kazuma! Moonlight! Leto!" Maple shouted.

I thought the chief would get panicky a bit since reinforcements arrived, however, the chief just smirked and wave off his waist-long hair. He is mocking with us.

"Guys! Don't attack the chief! He will use Moonlight as his meats.h.i.+eld!" I shouted.

Maple frowned and gritted her teeth. 

"Despicable! You dare use a hostage to just block off attacks!? You need to fight fairly!" Maple shouted.

"Ha! Fair? There is no fair between life and death. If you people wanted to kill, you won't hesitate at all even if I surrendered. Therefore, I shouldn't bother with how fair everything is. It's another 'live or die' battle! I can utilize every p.a.w.n I have if I wanted to live. So don't dare to mess with me!" And he snaps his fingers.

Moonlight who remained stationary moved and summoned her bamboo sword.

"Moonlight! Don't do it!" Miya shouted.

"Help! I can't control my body!" Moonlight shouted.  Her body swings the bamboo sword to Miya and the others.

"Wait for a bit Moonlight! Abstergo!" Catmod clapped his paws together and a magic circle appeared on Moonlight's feet. However, the magic circle disappeared. It was like it was forced to cancel out. Due to this, Catmod was. .h.i.t with a backlash. He spit out blood as his spell got destroyed.

"Nekoyamsama!" Maple shouted.

"Don't bother with others! Pay attention to yourself!" the chief shouted.

Before Maple can block, the bamboo sword of Moonlight hits her squarely in the head. She was sent flying by the strike. Leto quickly goes to the rescue and snaps her fingers, allowing vines to catch Maple who was sent unfortunately into the air.

I jump down from the Pillar of Doom and joined Catmod and the rest. Moonlight is really fatigued as she has used most of her mana stored in. She can barely stand yet the chief is using her as a meats.h.i.+eld still.

"What is our plan Nekoyamsama? This is not on our plan," I whispered on him.

"How should I know? I am not a strategist, ask Miya," Catmod said in an agitated tone.

"Tch, I am just asking. We have to avoid Moonlight being defeated. Why get angry at me?" I shook my head. I whispered on Miya to ask for help on what to do.

"What should we do? The chief is someone who is pretty hard to defeat. I have no weapon or anything that can go against him via close-quarter combat. Is there anything that can anti his skills? With Moonlight's life at stake, this is going to be hard."

"I never personally see the chief's powers before and this is the first time I have seen him use it on someone. I don't have any knowledge about his dark powers. If something beats the darkness, that would be light magic but we don't have any light magic at all."

I frowned hearing this. Neither do I have the power of light magic. This is the first time I heard about it.

"We have no choice. If we want to rescue Moonlight, we had to deal with that b.a.s.t.a.r.d first," Maple said, ready to get some kicking done.

"Oh, I guess you forgot about my followers? Miya, you traitor, should know that defying me means death right? Are you sure you want to send them to their deathbeds?" the chief looked at Miya.

"I don't regret defying you. When darkness consumed you, I no longer treat you as my dad!"

I was surprised to hear what Miya said. The chief is Miya's dad? The chief shook his head in dismay.

"A pity. I planned to use you as a sacrifice for Lord Shadow during the full moon but you escaped alongside the egg of the Elemental Pixie."

"Oh, looks like the cat is out of the bag, hahaha, I never expected that." the chief smirked.

"Heh, since you dared to defy me, I will be telling you this. Your mother and father were all killed by me. And when you are born, I plan to use you as the sacrifice to strengthen my magic power more. You see, I am just a friend of your parents. I should have sacrificed you much earlier but I choose to let you mature, but here you are, someone who defies my orders."

Hearing this, Miya's face darkens. Who would have thought that the person you thought to be your father all along is the enemy and the criminal who caused the death of her original parents? Anger filled her vision and her aura is full of killing intent. She grabs a throwing knife on her belt and gritted her teeth.

"I was hesitant to overthrow you at first but now that you confessed to your crimes, I won't hesitate to take you down!" and as she shouted that, she throws the throwing knife to the direction of the chief.

The chief grinned and swipes his hand in the air. In his place, Moonlight's stiff body move and she blocked the trajectory of the Throwing Knife.
