Chapter 177: Unt.i.tled
Translator: Atlas Studios Editor: Atlas Studios
Ji Zhiyao thanked the doctor and hurriedly took the bill to go to the reception to pay.
When he came back, Ji Qingge was already on a drip and had fallen asleep.
Ji Zhiyao took a seat and silently watched her for a while. Then he walked out of the ward, to the corridor to make a call.
His mother’s phone was switched off, probably because she was in surgery. He could only get through to his father’s phone, the calling tone rang for ten seconds before the call was picked up. “Zhiyao, is anything wrong?”
Ji Zhiyao stood in the corner, his eyes on the ground. “Dad, Qingge is ill, she’s at the second level of the hospital on a drip. Come down and take a look when you have time.”
“Ill? What illness? Is it serious?” His father asked several questions, then said, “I have a surgery in 10 minutes, help us to take of your sister for a while. If you don’t have enough money let me know, I’ll transfer money to you.”
Ji Zhiyao gloomily replied with an “mm”, then said, “It’s nothing, just a cold. Dad you can get back to your work.”
“Okay, then I’m hanging up.”
The call was hung up very quickly.
It was always like this.
Ji Zhiyao tugged at the corner of his lips.
Ever since they were young, once they cried or threw a temper, they would be educated that their parents were doctors and had to work. Ji Qingge and himself grew up all this time independently, but they naturally still had regrets.
Ji Zhiyao frowned, his mood becoming a rare despondent one.
He stood leaning on the wall for quite some time, even with his coat he could feel the coldness of the wall. As he was about to return to the ward to check on Ji Qingge, the phone in his pocket began to vibrate again.
Ji Zhiyao pulled it out, it was an invitation for a video call, the caller ID was “Captain”.
The corner of his lips lifted and he walked into the stairwell before putting on his ear piece and picking up the call.
“Captain.”
The background behind Mo Huaifeng was blue skies and the beach, he was lying on a deck chair, wearing sungla.s.ses. When he saw Ji Zhiyao, he was stunned and pulled off his sungla.s.ses. “Where is this? The hospital?”
Ji Zhiyao was surprised and said in an especially soft voice. “How did you know?”
Mo Huaifeng frowned. “Thought that it looked like it, you’re ill?”
“No, it’s not me, it’s Qingge, she’s running a fever and her windpipe is infected, I’m accompanying her while she gets a drip.”
“I checked the weather forecast, the temperatures have dropped these few days. Did she catch a cold?”
Ji Zhiyao let out a “heh”. “Said she brought too little clothes. When she’s recovered, I will definitely give her a beating.”
With that, his tone was unconsciously with a trace of antic.i.p.ation as he asked, “Captain, when are you guys coming back?”
“Probably within these few days.”
Ji Zhiyao replied very slowly. “Okay.”
“Tell you what. I’ll buy a ticket for tomorrow’s flight to go back, just in time to bring some food for your sister.”
Ji Zhiyao’s expression instantly turned into disdain. “Don’t bring her food, you don’t even know how fat she has gotten, I’m almost couldn’t carry her earlier.”
“Are you her biological brother?”
“Could I still be an adopted one?”
“You’ll never know.”
“You’ll never know my a.s.s, you-”
A head suddenly popped in from the door. “Sorry, the hospital does not allow loud noises, please lower your voice slightly.”
“Go stay with your sister, I’ll hang up.”
Then he hung with absolutely no reluctance to part.
Ji Zhiyao’s face was red and blue with dismay and anger, looking especially like an unwashed color palette.
He remained in the stairwell with his gloomy feelings for quite some time before he returned to the ward. Ji Qingge had already woken, her eyes lit up when she saw him and gestured with her hand. “Brother, get some food for me. If there’s really no way then order a takeaway, I’m so hungry.”
Ji Zhiyao’s face was cold. “No eating. For these few days you’re only allowed to drink congee with salted vegetable, even biscuits are a no-no. If I see one biscuit crumb, I’ll break your legs.”
“But I’m hungry.”
“Good that you’re hungry. See if you still dare to do this again.”
Ji Qingge was very aggrieved, but she also knew that her own brother was in a fit of anger, nothing she said would be of use, hence she could only stared unblinkingly at him. After a few minutes of doing so Ji Zhiyao was defeated and pulled out his phone to order a takeaway. “Let’s come to an agreement first, only vegetables for you.”
Ji Qingge nodded her head like a chicken pecking at rice. She was already very satisfied to have food, how would she dare to be picky.
Ji Zhiyao finished ordering the takeaway and continued to keep up his aloof expression.
Ji Qingge did not know what to say and finally came up with one sentence after suppressing it for a long time. “Brother, where’s my brother-in-law? Not accompanying you?”
“What the f*ck?
“What did you say?”
Ji Qingge raised three fingers to swear to the heavens. “Don’t worry. I’ve buried this secret away, I’ve never told anyone. Even mum and dad don’t know.”
“Then how did you find out?”
“About that… hehehehe.” Ji Qingge’s eyes were curved as she smiled. “If you order a fried chicken for me, I’ll consider telling you.”
Ji Zhiyao immediately took out his phone.
…
Mo Huaifeng reached out to tidy his cap, then hurriedly walked out of the airport and flagged down a taxi, saying, “To the munic.i.p.al hospital.”
Half an hour later, he alighted.
On the screen of his phone was an address that Ji Zhiyao had sent him an hour ago, Mo Huaifeng followed the signs and found the ward where Ji Qingge was in, then knocked on the door.
The door opened very quickly, the person behind the door was Ji Zhiyao.
Mo Huaifeng was about to say something when he realized that the person standing before him was smiling in a very weird manner… Gooseb.u.mps instantly rose all over his body and he looked over himself uneasily then asked after not finding anything abnormal, “Why are you staring at me?”
Ji Zhiyao grinned. “Nothing. Just felt like after not seeing our Captain for two weeks, he seemed to have become even more handsome.”
Mo Huaifeng coughed and said uneasily, “Let me in?”
Ji Zhiyao kept up his beaming smile and swiftly gave way. “Sure, come on in.”
Mo Huaifeng felt a wave of chills, he didn’t know what was going on and felt as if there were p.r.i.c.kles on his back.
Ji Zhiyao intentionally lagged behind Mo Huaifeng by half a step, then snickered behind him.
He can’t be blamed. It was mainly his Captain, no matter he always appeared to be extremely reliable, going around with a mocking face every day. If it wasn’t for what Ji Qingge had said, he never would’ve imagined that Mo Huaifeng would be so stupid.
Because he was afraid that his confession wouldn’t be successful so he got his future gay partner’s sister to be his wingman, a normal person won’t be able to do such a thing.
It was funny however he thought of it.
Oh yes, he even called him cute. Although cute wasn’t considered a good adjective for a big boy, but because it was Mo Huaifeng who said it… He took it entirely as a compliment and accepted wholly.
Ji Zhiyao laughed with his head bowed when Mo Huaifeng who was walking ahead suddenly turned back, looking especially confused. Ji Zhiyao really couldn’t keep it in anymore, his face was flushed as he looked up to the ceiling and chortled out loud.
Mo Huaifeng was dumbfounded.
What exactly had he done, that could make Ji Zhiyao laugh this hard?
He lowered his head for a glance, his clothes weren’t inside out.
Just what was funny about him?
Ji Zhiyao said between giggles. “It’s nothing, don’t bother about me.”
Mo Huaifeng pursed his lips seemingly in mockery, and Ji Zhiyao ended up laughing even harder, almost falling to the ground.
Mo Huaifeng simply decided to ignore him and handed the gift box he was carrying to Ji Qingge. “I brought something for you.”
Ji Qingge took it into her arms, then placed the bag onto the table, exaggeratedly crying out loud, “Oh dear, my stomach hurts. I’m embarra.s.sed to use the washroom with both of you here, I’ll go out for a moment.”
With that, she slipped into her slippers and sneaked out of the ward very quickly, and was even especially thoughtful as to close the door behind her.
Mo Huaifeng glanced at the doorway, then reached out and dragged Ji Zhiyao to the corner, bowed his head and asked suspiciously, “What were you laughing at earlier?”
Ji Zhiyao replied sincerely and genuinely. “Nothing, I just felt that Captain is really cute.”
He seemed to be slightly resigned as red slowly climbed up his ears. Yet when he looked down and caught that Ji Zhiyao was still grinning, he paused, then crashed his own lips onto his.
Mo Huaifeng was rather forceful, but Ji Zhiyao did not make a sound as he very obediently allowed him to nibble as he liked.
Two weeks without seeing his Captain, Ji Zhiyao actually missed him terribly.
Mo Huaifeng kissed him for a long time before he backed away contentedly. As he lowered his head to look at Ji Zhiyao’s mess of a pair of lips before him, he said, “If you use such a gross tone again, I’ll directly f*ck you till you cry.”
Ji Zhiyao retreated swiftly, hollering at the same time, “Forget about it, you’re an elderly about to turn 23 and you still want to vie with the young and strong me? It’s still uncertain who would be on top and who would be below by then.”
“Let’s try?”
“Bah!”
He rolled his eyes, then took a step forward in despise, reaching out to wipe Ji Zhiyao’s lips.
Midway through doing so, the door opened, Ji Qingge caught this scene the moment she lifted her eyes and was instantly stunned. “Did I come back too early? Do you need me to go stay outside for a bit more?
“I specially took note of the time and came back only after 15 minutes. Oh man, you guys are way too sluggish.”
Mo Huaifeng had on a n.o.ble and aloof expression as he thought to himself, this was f*cking considered slow? If he really were to be sluggish, it might be a few hours or even more.
Ji Zhiyao said with a long face. “Quickly shut the door.”
Ji Qingge returned to her senses, closed the door, so as to save the two shameless males from being seen by others.
In front of his own sister, even after she’d already found out about everything, Ji Zhiyao still felt a little awkward. He worked hard to change the topic, saying, “You want to be discharged today?”
“Yeah, I’m lying here every day, just waiting for three bottles of drips. I’ve been staying for so long that I’m about to grow mold.” Ji Qingge nodded. “Besides we’re doing revision for this period of time, I have been away for three days, probably lagging behind by quite a bit already.”
“Okay then, you can rest for now, I’ll go do the procedures for your discharge.”
Without waiting for Mo Huaifeng to speak, Ji Zhiyao had already left the ward in a dash.
Mo Huaifeng’s face went blank for once.
Ji Qingge almost snorted out loud.
After some time, she said, “Fi-G.o.d, I have yet to thank you for the present earlier.”
“You’re welcome.”
Ji Qingge touched her jaw as she kept up the conversation. “Don’t you think my brother is a fool, leaving you alone in the ward? Is he too trusting that you won’t have act unethically towards me, or feels that the matter of sisters, oh no, brother and sister going at each other, fighting for the same boyfriend won’t happen to us?”
Mo Huaifeng tugged at the corner of his lips, evidently not too pleased.
“But you must make the best use of your time. I think my brother will be telling the family soon.”
“What did you say?”
Ji Qingge sn.i.g.g.e.red. “Coming out to my mum and dad, if not, what else could it be?”
Mo Huaifeng’s feelings instantly became a little complex.
About making it public, it wasn’t that he never had such a thought.
Back when he had been single for 21 years since birth and had not met Ji Zhiyao, his parents had already accepted the fact that he might not be marry in this life, so in comparison, to accept that he liked men shouldn’t be that difficult. But with his mother’s character, she would definitely ask to see the person once he announced it, and he was worried that Ji Zhiyao would find this speed of progressing to be too fast, so he delayed it again and again… Yet what he did not expect was, Ji Zhiyao who was always one beat behind him had beat him to making the decision of coming to his family.
He was very happy.
But also a little ashamed.
He should have disclosed it long ago.
More and more thoughts filled his brain, Mo Huaifeng asked, “When would that be?”
Ji Qingge shook her head. “I don’t know. Even my brother coming out is something that I guessed by myself according to his behaviour. But with how cunning my brother, it’ll definitely be during the New Year period. He won’t have to take a beating during the New Year celebrations, simply ideal.”
A little unspeakable helplessness was instantly added into the bit of feeling touched in Mo Huaifeng’s heart, he nodded speechlessly and said, “I got it.”
“My brother is really great.”
“Mm.”
Ji Qingge smiled. “Fi-G.o.d you must be good to him.”
Mo Huaifeng’s expression was a rare solemn one. “Don’t worry.”
Both of them sat and chatted for a short while before the door opened and Ji Zhiyao walked in from outside. “There were quite a lot of people at the billing counter, I waited for very long. Ji Qingge, quickly pack up your belongings, I’m taking you back to school.”
Ji Qingge smiled again. “I got it, you nag too much.”
…
After doing his end-of-term examinations, it was Winter Solstice again.
Ji Zhiyao returned away with his luggage in tow. Ji Qingge had yet to have her break from school, he was the only at home and was especially bored.
Previously he had talked to his parents, after the end of this semester, he would take a year’s leave from school, both of them did not have any objections, allowing him to make decisions for himself. This made Ji Zhiyao feel slightly more relaxed.
He woke up from his afternoon nap and headed downstairs to watch TV for a while. Then he was really too bored and went upstairs again, preparing to sleep more.
Yet metaphysics was causing trouble, once he laid on his bed, he instantly felt extremely refreshed and couldn’t fall asleep no matter what. Ji Zhiyao rolled around several times then sat up abruptly and began to play with his phone.
He scrolled through all the trending searches that he was interested in, then went through all the profiles of his teammates, followed by his list of following… Ji Zhiyao really had nothing much to read anymore. Being bored out of his mind, he decided to think back on all the partic.i.p.ating battleteams in the national qualifiers and check out their official accounts one by one.
He could not remember the less known battleteams, but Nx, Wan Ning, Skitters etc he could still recall. Ji Zhiyao looked through several official accounts and realized that other than promotions and advertis.e.m.e.nts, there was nothing particularly interesting.
Ji Zhiyao dropped his phone in boredom, then buried his face in his blanket.
Advertis.e.m.e.nt…
Advertis.e.m.e.nt!
Oh yes, didn’t Yuan Wei said that he had gotten an advertis.e.m.e.nt job for then? Why was it that it’s been two months since the national qualifiers ended and he’d still yet to see even the shadow of an advertis.e.m.e.nt?
Ji Zhiyao sat up once again, picking up his phone to send a text to Yuan Wei.
[MelonRind: Brother Yuan Wei, I think you ought to give me an explanation!]
[ManagerYuanWei: Huh?]
