Rika glanced at the standing Bin and asked, her gaze lingering on his face for a few moments before shyly retracting it. The other three girls were busying themselves with their food while chatting about girly boorish stuff.
"Nah, I'm fine. I'll eat later."
"Why not?" Out of no where, Melissa b.u.t.ted in, looking at the pale-faced youth with a seductive smile to which he showed real disgust.
"I'm not hungry."
"You sure? You can order some food if you want."
Jasmine joined in too, saying that uninterestingly while gazing at a figure walking toward their table. Bin stepped aside and watched a tall young man pa.s.s, from his uptight uniform, you could tell he's a student. He had handsome facial features, a pointy nose and two emerald eyes that would infatuate any girl. He was Joseph, the guy Jasmine had a crush on and her supposed boyfriend.
Joseph faced Bin, smiled and stretched his hand while saying
"I a.s.sume you're Jasmine's new servant? Pleased to meet you, I am Joseph Lecandre."
To not make things awkward, Bin firmly shook his hands but softly smiled, though it was apparent that his 'smile' wasn't the least bit genuine. He didn't know why but ever since Melissa said that this guy was an opportunist, he started having an unfavorable impression about him. Though unwilling to admit it, he did indeed believe in what she said. Of course, the truth remains to be seen and it's not like he's going to get involved the Joseph.
"I am Bin." He perfunctorily answered and stood by the side after the handshake was over. As for the young man before him, he a.s.sessed Bin and mysteriously nodded his head before s.h.i.+fting his attention to Jasmine, who was acting abnormally.
A smile blossomed on her oval-shaped face, making her look even more breath-taking. She fixed the inky black hair falling on her shoulder while saying
"Come, sit with us."
Unlike her usual tone, she spoke with a shocking softness that made Bin momentarily astounded. He never thought that this spoiled annoying girl could talk like that, not even in his wildest dreams.
'Rivers and mountains can change but a person's character is hard to move? Who the f.u.c.k said that? Love changes everything!'
While inwardly cursing, he maintained a long silence while watching everyone cheerfully talk.
"I'm going to bring desserts. Can you a.s.sist me?"
Melissa stood up and raised her voice as she spoke to Bin so that he can't refuse her in front of Jasmine.
"I'll lend a hand."
Joseph prepared to stand up only for Jasmine to grab his hand and say: "It's alright, Bin will help."
He glanced at Bin who already turned around and prepared to leave with Melissa.

"Quite the love birds, huh."
Melissa commented while walking alongside Bin. She kept looking at him, making the young man feel the chills down his spines.
It turned out that the reason she fixated her gaze on him was because she was expecting some kind of response to what she said.
"What? I didn't come here to talk with you but to 'a.s.sist' you."
"Conversing me is considered a form of a.s.sistance."
"No. Not in my book." He shook his head and quickened his steps, overtaking her and heading toward the middle-aged lady in charge of handing the desserts.
The lady looked at him, expecting him to talk but he remained tight-lipped for he didn't know what to order exactly. Melissa swiftly caught up to him, looked at the waiting lady and said
"Uhm, please don't mind us, we're still thinking about what to order."
The woman nodded her head and busied herself with other things while Melissa confronted Bin, the smile on her face widening, almost transforming into a grimace.
"Why are you avoiding me? Is it related to what happened last time?"
While avoiding her piercing gaze, he responded: "What do you think?"
"It doesn't matter what I think and whatever happened should not affect our public interaction. You deeply hurt me by refusing my offer but I haven't given up, nevertheless, I'm not as petty as to make things difficult for you."
Bin snorted and retorted: "I'm just trying not involve myself with you. Each minds their own business without interference. I'm just here to work so let's not make it complicated."
The girl crossed her arms, slightly tilted her head and said back: "I don't want to complicate things but just show you who's your best choice. If you work for me, you won't need to be ordered around to such things."
"That may be true but I don't like you so my answer remains the same."
Once she heard that, Melissa covered her mouth while laughing: "This honesty of yours is exactly why I'm so fond of you. Oh and by the way, you don't need to worry about my brother, he's a wuss and won't bother you."
"He sure won't bother me but I can't say the same for others."
"What? Did you see his uncontrolled dominance hobby? I didn't think you're a sympathetic person."
"I'm not. Just pointing out the similarities between you two."
After he said his last piece, Bin left Melissa alone and went back to the table. She clearly wasn't going to get dessert and only wanted to chat and he, being her target, doesn't want to.
'Tsk! Why is every one of them trying to press their problems on me? A depressed girl who won't speak of her worries. A dominatrix b.i.t.c.h who has nothing to do but cling onto me, and a spoiled brat who's got the mind of a kid!'
