I Deserve A Second Chance Chapter 98 - Iron Lady

Risa lifted her long, slender fingers and started to s.h.i.+ft through the papers in front of her, "First in schedule, is to let everyone from my team here know the rule of thumb," she turned her small, beautiful face and looked at the rows on her left where her team sat.

"Everyone will still report to me, but I will start reporting to Mr. w.a.n.g here," she turned to the side and lifted her right hand with palm side up to Mr. w.a.n.g.

She scanned the faces of her team one by one, "We will work side by side with his team, but rest a.s.sured, no one will be clas.h.i.+ng with anyone. We have two different sets of customers, enough to occupy all of your time." Her crisp, clear voice resonated throughout the meeting room.

She slightly leaned forward onto the table, brought her hands together and clasped them. She tilted her head slightly to the side and smiled at the audiences, "Feel free to knock on my door when you still have time to spare. I will gladly pa.s.s you more tasks of mine," and everyone started to laugh nervously.

She's not someone they could treat so lightly! They should not let her beautiful face fool anyone here.

Fan jie stole a glimpse at Shao Yan, and when the latter looked at her, Fan jie subtly rolled her eyes. 'She's an iron lady, huh?' - Shao Yan could capture her loud thinking right away.

She tried so hard to restrain her giggles. She kept a poker face on and replied with a strained smile, her lips were barely lifted to show that she was not amused.

Thinking back to their discussion earlier, and how Risa treated her own team, Shao Yan inwardly sighed a relief. Luckily, no one from her team would have to report to Risa.

After she had set down the ground rules for both teams to follow, Risa went on to discuss the projects to focus for the next 18 months. A strain of her hair fell down on her forehead. She casually lifted a finger to swipe it to the side.

Her whole actions from this morning until now had captivated everyone's attention. Her whole beautiful figure along with her arrogant att.i.tude were like a double edge sword. She emitted sharp and soft aura at the same time; confusing everyone in the room.

The meeting ran over until lunch time and everyone was already so exhausted and famished by then.

Before he closed the meeting, Mr. w.a.n.g stood up from his chair and said, "We will have our first official team lunch tomorrow. I know it's Friday, but don't plan on skipping work." The people in the room started to let out awkward laughs and chuckles at his words, before they slowly got up from their seats.

Shao Yan also got up from her seat and started to follow the crowd to walk out  of the meeting room with Fan jie and Uncle Huo. The three of them tacitly stayed quiet along the walk back to their floor. Even when they were climbing down the stairs, no one said anything for fear that someone might be listening.

When they reached their own desks, Fan jie quickly slumped on her chair and let out a dramatic sigh.

"Our peaceful day is now over, the red door of destiny is finally knocking in front of me," Fan jie was sitting dejectedly on her chair and spoke gibberish words of random poems. And when Li Na sauntered over, Fan jie swiftly grabbed her arm and clung onto her.

"Li Na! Li Na~"

Li Na jolted at her actions, and casted a confused look at Shao Yan, who was smiling helplessly at their antics. One was a drama queen, the other was a lost snail. They made quiet an attractive duo. Shao Yan secretly thought, 'It's good that everyone is still on high spirits'.

Shao Yan then turned her head to Uncle Huo, "Uncle Huo, please help to let everyone know about what we talked about in the meeting today. I want to make sure everyone is aware of the priority here."

She cupped her fist excitedly,"Let's not give any chance to OnScience to look down on us for being unprepared."

After the meeting ended, Shao Yan pulled all of her team for a mini huddle, to let them know what they should expect to see happening in the future.

They were not sure whether Risa was good news or bad news. So they had to stay cautious.

Looking at how busy and occupied everyone was, Li Na quietly sent instant messages to everyone's computer, "What do you want to eat for lunch? I will order the food." Everyone quickly place their order, and Li Na helped to organize everything to be delivered as soon as possible.

When the lunch orders just arrived, and Shao Yan was about to start eating, her mobile phone suddenly rang.

She reached out to look at the caller ID, and saw it was Martin who was calling her.

Right on time. She remembered this morning, Li Xiqing had told her that Martin would call to talk about OnScience team.

She slide the screen up to accept the call with her right thumb, and then moved it to her left hand to hold the phone.

She picked up her chopsticks again to continue eating.

She could hear static noise come first, before a deep, masculine voice ring through, "Shao Yan, this is Martin. I believe Daniel has told you about this call?"

She could also hear noisy background from his side, it seems that Martin is walking while also talking to her on the phone. Car horns on the background masked his voice.

"Yes, but I can't really hear you right now. Do you want to call back again later?" Shao Yan unconsciously raised her voice to speak to him.

She did not hear anything for some time, only the hustle and bustle noise behind him. All of a sudden, she heard a 'thud' sound and then her surroundings was quiet.

"How about now? I just left the office and was walking to my car. I'm already inside the car now. Hopefully it's much better?" Martin's voice sounded clearer and louder this time.
