She was pulled back from her contemplation when the Underworld's Key spoke, " Mistress, I know it's a lot to take in. It might seem unreal to you but everything I had said are true. The best thing for you to do right now is to go with my Master. At his domain, you'll be safe. Protected.", he finished as if coaxing a child.
"How about a way for me to get back to my home world?", she asked.
"That... I have no knowledge of. I apologize Mistress.", Key replied.
"How is that even possible? I mean-- I was just dizzy, lying on my bed, next thing I know, some b.a.s.t.a.r.d has a sword pointing down my neck. What's ironic is that, I'm talking to the said sword right now!", she complained.
"Mistress, please quell your anger.", Key tried to appease her.
"Anger? I'm not angry! I'm stressed, tired, scared and hungry! Where is that d.a.m.ned Master of yours anyway?", she continued complaining. Knowing she'll get nowhere with just lying around, she stood up and walked around the forest. She didn't forget to grab Key as he was insisting on "guarding" her.
They've been walking for quite a long time and Mei Yue was already feeling weak from exhaustion, when she heard the sound of flowing water. A river? She quickened her steps towards the sound and was happily surprised to see a river so clear, she can see the rocks and fishes at the bottom.
She looked around to check if there was anybody on sight. Once she was sure that no one was near, she immediately put down Key. She tested the water with her feet. Cold! She shook her head to clear her mind. You're hungry, tired and stressed. You need to eat and bathe. You haven't bathed in five days!
She had been busy trying to come up with an idea for her new novel that she forgot to take a bath. She tends to forget herself when she is lost in her own world. Now that her mind is off her work, she can think properly again. She breathed deeply then started taking off her clothes.
Key was alarmed when he saw her stripping down.
"Mistress! What are you doing?! Someone might see you!"
"So? That's fine. n.o.body will give a d.a.m.n. Also, you're here. You're my lookout.", she replied while walking towards the water.
She drowned out Key's complains by looking for a way to fish. She s.h.i.+vered when she was already waist-deep but she continued moving forward. Once only her head was above the water, she tested her arm movements, once she was sure she can move easily, she closed her eyes then stood still.
When she gained freedom from her parents and moved out of her brother's house, she went on a lot of trips and trainings. She wanted to find something that she can do and be proud of. She also did it for her novels. She needed to do some research about places and various skills so she won't disappoint her readers.
She was counting her breaths when she felt a small movement a few inches from her right thigh. She quickly extended her right hand and grabbed whatever it was. She held out her left hand to support her right hand. She opened her eyes and laughed out loud when she saw the big fish. Of course, it was struggling out of her hands but she just held it firmly.
She walked out of the water and was s.h.i.+vering badly when she reached Key's side.
"Mistress! Are you alright?!", concern can be heard from Key's voice.
"Yeah. Just two more and I'll stop.", she said before going back to the water.
Mei Yue went on a different spot and did the same thing. She was able to catch a fish quickly on her second try but the third attempt made her lips almost blue from the coldness and for the long time she was dipped in the water.
Once on land, she didn't bother wearing her clothes and hastily gathered rocks, dried leaves and twigs to start a fire. Once a fire was built, she sheepishly looked at Key. She was contemplating whether she should ask or not.
Key seemed to have sensed her hesitation and asked, "What is it Mistress?".
"Oh. Uh... It's just-- I have to clean these fishes. I would like to cut their bellies so I was wondering if... I can... use... you?", she explained then finished with an almost indiscernible whisper.
There was a long silence between the two of them and Mei Yue was already feeling awkward. She was about to take back her words when Key spoke.
"If Mistress wishes to use my blade, then you may. But please be careful not to get cut again."
"Are you sure? Oh my gos.h.!.+ Thank you! I'll clean you properly afterwards so you won't smell fishy later!", Mei Yue happily grabbed Key, then brought the fishes and the sword by the riverside.
She swiftly cleaned the fishes and put them on sticks. She then diligently cleaned Key much to its protest. Once satisfied, she went back to the fire she made and cooked the fishes while waiting to dry up. By the time the fishes were cooked, she was also dried. She was thinking of putting on her clothes and was about to get them when she heard some rustling and felt the breeze behind her. She was about to face back when her surroundings darkened as she felt something heavy was put on her head. She was about to scream when someone beat her to it.
"What are you doing parading yourself like a monkey?! You have no decency at all!"
She was shocked because of the thundering voice. She s.h.i.+vered from fright and was still gathering her wits when she heard Key speak up for her.
"Master, Mistress was hungry that's why she went fis.h.i.+ng. Her ways are a bit odd but effective. She didn't want her clothes wet that's why she had to take them off. I swear that I was on guard the whole time and n.o.body came near. Except… you.", Key explained.
"So it was my fault that she didn't listen to me? I told her to wait obediently. Besides, why are you defending her?", the man answered coldly.
"No, Master. I was not. I was just stating the fact as I see it.". Key replied softly, scared of angering his Master further.

The man did not answer and just stared at Mei Yue intently. He harrumphed before turning his back to her and saying, "Wear your clothes if you don't want to get sick.".
She heard him speak but she didn't move immediately. Her hands were clutching the cloak tightly. Her mind was in a mess. He saw me naked! All her life, she hadn't felt such humiliation!
She slowly poked her head out of the cloak before she stiffly walked towards her clothes. She then carefully put her clothes on, making sure that the cloak doesn't slip down her body. Once fully clothed, she quietly sat down beside the fire and picked up one of the fishes to nibble on.
She snuck a few glances at the man who was still standing with his back towards her. She looked at Key and gestured some signs to the sword. She wasn't sure if it can understand her and she sighed heavily.
"Are you done?"
She suddenly jumped from fright and squeaked as an answer. The man then turned around and went for his sword. He inspected it intently before putting it back in its scabbard. He then stared her down. She didn't know what to do. She averted her gaze from him but she could still feel his stare and it's giving her gooseb.u.mps. She gathered up her courage and stared back at him.
"What are you looking at?!" she scoffed.
The man continued staring at her before walking towards her direction and sitting down on a log a few feet away from her.
He then proceeded staring down at her as if she's a specimen that is new to his eyes. She felt uncomfortable but chose to pretend as if she didn't notice his deep stare. A few minutes has pa.s.sed and she jumped when she heard his question.
"What did you do to my sword?"
She pretended she didn't hear him and continued chewing the fish in her mouth. She suddenly jumped up when he threw the sword at her.
"What's your problem?! What's wrong with you?! Are you really sick in the head?!", she continuously asked with a bit of annoyance.
"My sword, what did you do to it?", he countered back.
She was about to flip at him but stopped when she heard his question. She looked down at the sword by her feet. She made sure to clean it thoroughly and made sure there are no stains left.
"What do you mean? It's heavy and sharp. What can I do with it?", she questioned innocently.
"Are you mocking me?", he then responded.
"What? How did it come to that?", she asked in disbelief.
"Do you really think that I wouldn't know the difference?", he asked coldly. He then summoned the sword back into his hand then unsheathed it. "It smells of fis.h.!.+", he yelled in annoyance.
She wasn't sure how to respond but thinking how he exploded and the words he said while looking like the world had wronged him, she couldn't help but burst in laughter. She laughed so hard that it left her almost breathless.
The man stared at her furiously which only fueled her laughter more. It took a lot of will power to stop herself from laughing. Once she stopped, she wiped her tears and sat back down again.
"Fine, fine. I admit. I used your sword to cut the fishes. But what else can I use? I have nothing but a pen in my pocket.", she said before showing the pen she had.
She was then surprised when she realized something. She didn't transmigrate like the usual ones she read in novels. She actually got migrated! She tried to prove her theory by taking the man's hand and stabbing him with the pen. He didn't seem to mind and just stared at her as if she's gone crazy.
She was about to pinch his cheek when he swatted her hand away. He then flicked her on her forehead before saying, "Are you still thinking that this is some sort of a dream? What kind of pain do you want me to inflict upon you for you to know that this is real?".
She didn't respond to him and just stood there quietly while digesting the new information she found. She then realized the difference in their clothes, style and way of speaking. She's not dreaming and she didn't transmigrate? So does that mean that she is actually somewhere unknown?
What kind of a stupid plot twist is this?!
