Under the dim lights, the atmosphere became a bit unspeakable.
But Mu was having a long face.
He picked up the bathrobe and wrapped it around her body quickly.
“What're you doing?”
Ye took a deep breath, looking surprisingly calm.
She was originally worried that she couldn't find courage to do the deal because of self-esteem. Now this slip was just a best help of all.
She clasped her hands and took another step forward, with her head down.
She was standing right in front of him, in a very close distance.
His warm breath reached her face, stifling her answering words which were originally already on her lips.
Mu surely knew what all this was for when this little girl suddenly came to his room dressed like this.
For an instant, he felt a little remorseful for spoiling such a good girl.
“Go back and have a good sleep.”
After saying this, he let out a sigh, then turned around and walked to the balcony starting to smoke.
Ye was left alone at her original place, feeling full of embarra.s.sment.
She had finally plucked up the courage to come here to make a deal with him, but was told to go back!?
She couldn't move her feet now as if they had been filled with heavy lead.
Chilly wind of the night crept in through the seam of his soft nightgown, giving him the same itchy feeling as being touched by a feather.
Mu held his nightgown tight and slowly exhaled a puff of smoke.
His narrowed dark eyes appeared much more mysterious in the smoke.
A few minutes later, he extinguished his cigarette and returned to his room.
But Ye was still standing there motionlessly.
Her nervousness, restraint and caution were all captured by Mu.
She was just a kid after all.
But at that moment, there was a warm feeling gurgling in his heart.
He thought the air conditioner in the room seemed to be turned up a little too high.
He could do nothing but go over to her, took off his own gown and wrapped it around her.
Then he raised his hand and gently rubbed at her head.
“Go back.”
He then helped with her collar.
“Have a good sleep.”
He moved his hands in a very gentle way, with his broad and soft palms pa.s.sing through her fine hair, making Ye stunned out of her control.
It took her a while to come to her senses.
She then let out a hoa.r.s.e voice, “Uncle.”
Ye had also no idea why it was this word that came out of her mouth in the end when her moods got off reins.
She did hate him, but he was also the only one in the world she could count on.
His gentleness had already made it hard for Ye to maintain her feigned toughness.
Thus, tears simply surged out of her eyes like this without any sign and fell on the back of his hand one drop after another.
It made his heart uncontrollably tight.
But he said nothing in the end. He just quietly wiped her tears away.
She used to be a spoiled girl, but great misfortune happening to her family these days rolled over her one after another, without giving her any time of breathing at all.
It might be better to let her cry.
He slowly held her into his arms.
Ye froze. It was a little cold in his arms, and it smelled of strong smoke, but she found no strength to push him away at this moment.
She cried much more badly in his arms.
After a long time, she finally raised her head from his arms, and said in a strongly broken voice, “I want my family's house. It cannot be torn down. That's the only thing my father has left me.”
Her s.h.i.+ny tears whirled in her bright eyes and fell down her face one drop after another, deeply scorching his heart.
Mu heaved a sigh, his eyes drooping.
“Weiwei, this thing is not as simple as you think.”
It was the first time he had called her like that.
But it made her more agitated.
“Why? How about you lending me the money and letting me redeem the house. I'll pay you back later!”
“It cannot be solved by money.”
With swollen eyes, Ye pushed away his arms.
“I just know it. How can you be so nice? The tenderness just now is all fake. Or you're still waiting for me to beg you in that way!”
