'What the h.e.l.l is coming this way? Animal, human, or a ghost?' Alexander bit his lips in fear and thought. Every ounce of his manliness was sucked dry by the darkness around him.
With the fear slowly growing in his mind, he stared intensively towards the bushes, while his left foot was turned at a right angle in preparation of frenzy retreat.
However, as if someone was h.e.l.l-bent on making him s.h.i.+t in fear, the bushes didn't stop wiggling but no one came out. Not even a shadow… Obviously, shadow can't come out, it was dark all around.
Time pa.s.sed, second by second.
Cold sweat was now trying to drown Alexander, while his blood pressure was dropping down into the valleys of death while his eyes were focused in a straight line, not daring to miss a single movement in this crazy darkness.
Swoosh
Night breeze pa.s.sed through his body, chilling it down further by a notch. His body shuddered a bit and his clenched fists tightened again.
'What the h.e.l.l is that thing? Is it h.e.l.l-bent on making me s.h.i.+t in open? Doesn't it know about the importance of proper personal sanitation?'
As if the thing behind the bushes heard his thoughts or it decided to not play with him any further, the vigorous movement suddenly died down. The wiggling and roaring of sc.r.a.ping bushes stopped too.
Silence!
A deathly silence followed it.
Droplets of sweat flowed down from his forehead into his eyes, blurring his vision a bit. But, Alexander didn't move. He was still focused.
Military rule: Never rest after the first intense attack. That's when you are most vulnerable!
'Is it Ryan Reed?' A sudden realization struck him. That possibility was really feasible at first thought. But, he shook away this thought soon, 'Even I can't follow back my path. How can that weed follow me till here? It'll be too great if he can just point out the direction in which I went after my traces disappeared.'
He wasn't underestimating his opponent. He was just too confident in his "Devil's Walk". Even top military experts need time to trace movements of the Chaotic Forces, how can just any piece of weed trace this top military technique?
He wasn't as expert as those Chaotic Forces' Veterans. But, his expertise after his recent breakthrough was enough for crus.h.i.+ng the senses of any random Joe and Weed.
Lost in his thoughts, he nearly forgot about his current situation. And, as he snapped back to his senses and looked forward, a black object was flying towards his face.
'c.r.a.p!'
Fear overwhelmed his senses as the unknown was reaching him. His senses stopped working and his vision darkened in fear.
Bam!
As soon as the black object landed on his face, he stumbled and fell on the hard ground, while his eyes rolled back into his head.
He pa.s.sed out in fear before he s.h.i.+tted out in fear.
Good thing for him!
"That little b.a.s.t.a.r.d's underling is as cowardly as him. Cheh… he pa.s.sed out just like this. I didn't even have fun."
Soon, a female voice came out from behind the bushes after which a long humanoid silhouette jumped over and appeared near fainted Alexander.
She bent down near him and picked up the black object from his face and draped it over her shoulders, mumbling, "He fainted due to my coat and he still dared to enter this deep in the forest? If not for the small marks he left while running I would have missed him. I have to admit that Little b.a.s.t.a.r.d really trained his underling with good movement techniques. Even those low-level instructors of the academy wouldn't be able to trace him."
After straightening out her long coat, she looked around and then looked at Alexander's fainted pale face again, "Now, what should I do with him?"
