In front of the old wooden abandoned cottage, twigs and dry tinder were lit. Flames and smoke were rising up in a low uproar of cracking while spreading out the bright golden hue in the surrounding.
Two people, one man, and another woman were sitting, facing the small bonfire while their backs were supported by the old-damaged-wooden wall of the cottage.
The man was probably sleeping with his eyes closed tightly while the woman was staring into the fire as the flames were flickering and dancing in her dark eyes. She didn't show any movement, neither did she move her eyes away. As if she was glued or if something caught her deep inner interest; she maintained silence without moving.
Naturally, she was Isabella and the man beside her was Alexander who pa.s.sed out previously and from the looks of it, he was still down.
Maybe… The fear shook his soul deeply. Or… maybe his s.h.i.+t got stuck while pa.s.sing through the sphincter. Whatever it was, he was still in deep slumber.
Isabella checked him earlier and found out that he was just shocked and will be awake by midnight. Since there wasn't any serious issue with him, and they can't leave this place yet in the darkness due to security reasons while traveling at night. She didn't try to wake him up and just lit this fire using Alexander's collected tinder and decided to spend the night here.
Currently, while she was sitting and probably thinking about some memories, looking at the blazing flames. Alexander, who was at some distance from her, slowly opened his eyes.
As his eyelids twitched and opened up like a garage door. Light from the fire entered his eyes, shocking him again. Instinctively, his eyes narrowed into slits, trying to accommodate to the sudden brightness.
"Ugh…" he muddle headedly moaned in discomfort when he tried to lift his left hand which was supporting his leaned body while he was asleep.
'c.r.a.p! I must have put all my weight on it.'
However, the discomfort didn't stay long as another wave of fear swept through his mind as realization struck him.
'Wasn't I attacked by that vampire? Was I sucked dry by it? Am I dead? Is this my second reincarnation? How many reincarnations am I left with?'
Myriads of thoughts were jumping through his mind while he tried to figure out what happened with him. He thought of that blank object with a somewhat humanoid shape as a vampire. If not a vampire then what humanoid can fly in this darkness? And, if it was a vampire, is he dead after he was sucked dry of his blood and masculinity?
Sure enough, his thoughts were too vivid as they ran around in a frenzy. He surely disappointed many great authors and scientists whose books he had read in the past. He was spitting on science with his current thoughts. But, that wasn't his fault entirely. If you were transmigrated once in your lifetime, will you still believe in science even if you, yourself receive a n.o.bel prize in the field of science?
h.e.l.l no!
So was he. His thoughts didn't stay calm and in order to observe his surroundings, he forcefully turned his aching, cramped neck towards his left.
What came into his vision was a familiar girl in black long overcoat.
'Heck! She's cold senior Isabella! And she's looking towards me. If I am not dead, is she the vampire? Was she waiting for me to wake up and then suck me dry?'
"So you are awake." Isabella didn't want to let him overthink and spoke first. Which she was aware he'll, after listening to his two out of the world shouts while traveling in the group. She explained further, "I was just playing with you earlier. Who would have known that you'll just pa.s.s out after seeing my coat flying? Truly, you are too cowardly. Please, don't partic.i.p.ate in events like this if you can't even stay awake."
Alexander's lips, eyebrows, eyelids, and entire body twitched slightly.
Am I a coward? Heck! Who can face such kind of pressure unless they deal with deathly things on a daily basis? I used to spend my life in labs. It's already too great that I can even leave Ryan Reed behind in a chase.
And, you were just playing? You were playing with my life! Do you know, you played with my excretory system at that moment? And that was just a coat? Let me throw that at you in the dark, let's see if you don't look at it as some unnatural creature.
"Senior, you nearly took my life away." After sorting out his thoughts and venting inside. That was all he was able to utter out.
