A young man appeared in a flash of greenish blue pixels within unknown pitch black surroundings, white hair and medium toned skin, deep glowing amethyst eyes. He stood just about five foot eleven inches tall and his form contrasted with the background.
Dressed in his black and white Champion Cla.s.s Armor Robes dubbed the 'Defiance of Chaos,' which despite its appearance rivals that of Guild Weapons and Armor. This allowed him to easily withstand attacks from Divine-cla.s.s items used by players or even NPCs of his own level.
"Huh..." A quiet huff escaped his lips as this world which had once been enveloped in darkness, became illuminated by blue lights that lined the double domed room.
The ambient music filled his senses, a small smile formed over his lips.
"No one else seems to be here..." He muttered quietly, taking in the top floor within the ash blue pillar-like Castle of Vilisyrteria City. There was an incredibly elongated decagram shaped table made of polished scorched stone with a glowing metallic blue trim.
Several seats surrounded this table, a total of fifty five.
Above his head was a mural made of stained gla.s.s.

Without delay, another flash of greenish blue pixels exploded in a seat on the other end of the table. A demon clad in red hued armor stood there with his pointed wings extended. "Ah, Jakku-san… Good to see you this morning..." he spoke in a sharp Tokyo accent. "It's morning, right?"

Jack gave a soft sn.i.g.g.e.r and shook his head, "Afternoon, Not that you can see the sun through all the toxic clouds above my head." Folding his arms over his chest, his briefly worn smile vanished. "It's good to see you Seki-san. How's the wife and kids?"
"What is with you asking this question… Whilst knowing I don't have them?"
"My sister used to ask that very same question..." Jack puckered his eyes with an emotionless curve of his lips which almost seemed menacing at first glance.
The Arch Demon scratched the crown of horns along the crescent of his deep red forehead. "Has anyone ever told you how annoying you can get, Leader?" This man looked almost like the stereotypical devil of all things.
His armor even had animated Nether flames, and of all things, was divine cla.s.s.
"I'm afraid Lalsan beat you to it," the young man with amethyst eyes would s.h.i.+ft his gaze to the surface of the table.
"Oh? So you actually asked her out on her last day?"
"Hm…? No, why would I do that?"
"Eh…. That means I lost the bet! G.o.ddammit!"
"She likes you! She said she'd even pay for your visa to enter j.a.pan!"
Jack blinked a few times at this and scratched the back of his head. Though he didn't feel all that much as in the game, it was just a simple gesture. "I doubt she'd have much time for me anyways," he'd p.r.o.nounce sheepishly before turning toward the sleek black staff with a deep violet liquid textured core resting in the direct center of the table.
It was the Staff of the Citadel, a powerful Guild Weapon, able of allowing the user to surpa.s.s the intended level limit of the game by consuming monsters, hostile npcs and heavily weakened players. Those who are consumed give cla.s.ses, experience and knowledge to the user of the staff. With a mult.i.tude of other abilities, this very item was one of the most valuable in the game.
Except for the fact that only Jack could use it.
Senses were minimally used in the game, both for legal issues and data consumption. One could only imagine how much data would be needed to convey a sense of taste, smell or even touch. Either way though, this world was amazing immersive, despite it not really catering to that of the more perverse players who seek other forms of excitements and thrills from gaming.
"Now don't say that..." Seki let out a light sigh, shaking his head, "You might just die a virgin."
Jack's eyes narrowed on him for a moment before he looked away again, as if pocketing his hands, and making his way towards the large circular pocket door leading out of the room.
"Hey! I didn't mean it!"
"I know you didn't," Jack snickered at his reaction, his eyes turning his head towards the demon as he came to a halt several paces away from the door.
"I can never tell when you're serious with that stoic expression you always wear on that face of yours." The devil would laugh as he spoke, pointing at him with a crooked smile.
"Life is always about the reactions of others, isn't it?" Jack c.o.c.ked his head with a brow raised.
"If you're that obsessed with the eyes of Society, probably…?"
Shrugging, the Leader of the Guild opened the pocket door from where he stood, watching as it s.h.i.+fted aside and revealed a handful of NPC lining the halls leading to the lower elevated floors below.
"Perhaps, perhaps not." Jack let out a soft chuckle as he scratched the back of his head again, as if it was an automatic gesture her resorted to.
"Anyways, did you get the newest game system I sent you?" Seki asked with chuckle, "So far you're the only one who hasn't moved your character over to Alterpoint."
"Alterpoint? Right… That American Game Company that bought some of the rights to YGGDRASIL's database to allow players to convert their characters over to their game."
Sensing his disinterest, Seki simply stared at his friend with his bright yellow eyes. "Lalsan said that she would marry your character, should you join."
Jack simply gave Seki his signature menacing look before shaking his head slightly. "Whilst I enjoy the idea of coming home from work and there being someone there… I'm not marrying someone in a game world," pinching his nose despite there being no feeling. "And it's unlikely she'd settle down so early in her career just to appease me. It would ruin what makes her… her."
Seki wore this blatant yet feint smile, seeing Jack was making excuses.
Lala was a young successful and skilled international actress slash musician, starring in various televised shows and films, though her primary fanbase is in j.a.pan. Her true name was Tetsuya Megumin, age nineteen.
Jack on the other hand, he lived off of the real estate he inherited from the incidental deaths of pretty much his entire immediate family. He had a doctorates degree in Computer Sciences, which allowed him to program and network the NPCs.
That was about it.
No debt, no problems. His only internet presence was this game, his only social outlet other than the game was his phone, which was only to order food or call for help, but just maybe a friend.
"Well," the Devil yawned, "It's about time for me to head out. Hence, I bid you farewell my friend. Until we meet again on Alterpoint, should you ever open the package and plug it in."
Jack just narrowed his eyes on the Devil and before he could say a word, as his lips parted, a ray of colorful pixels claimed his friend. Seki was gone and Jack was left alone.

"Didn't even take his time," a shallow smile of contempt appeared over his lips before he turned his gaze towards the table. His eyes resting on the Staff of the Citadel, reaching his hand out and calling it to himself wordlessly.
Spiraling and whirling through the air, the item came to his hand without complication, his entire body giving a faint purple flash before returning to normal. Slowly he took a shaky inhale, looking at the clock. It was 2:50 PM, which in j.a.pan would be 11:50 PM, as they were nine hours ahead.
"Ten minutes until the game comes to an end," his gaze rested on the weapon in his hand. "I wonder if Alterpoint will bring this broken weapon over if its in my item box..." Slipping it into his storage, he would proceed to walk out of the Grand a.s.sembly Room.
Above his head as he waltzed through the corridors, were chandeliers with bright blue flames. The walls were dark, scorched into an off-black hue. The floors were covered in a black reflective compound with a blue, gold trimmed, carpet rolled down the center of the corridors.
In all his thoughts, he was hoping that this game wasn't really coming to an end. That it was all just shutting down for a ma.s.sive update. A change of scenery, a new world.
The adventures he had, the friends he had made. He never had those in the life head lead outside of the World Tree. Nothing but money, he could buy people, yet at the end they'd just leave him once it was spent. His hands balled up as he took gander at the nearest NPC that was lifelessly staring at him.
