She picked up everything and was about to leave through the main gate of the college until she heard someone calling her. She turned around to find a high schooler running towards her with two other girls.
GCA was an inst.i.tute that had two main buildings. One was a high school while the other was college. So it was pretty normal for some high schooler wanting to meet the seniors. But, this girl was no ordinary girl. She was the deputy head girl of high school, Kate. While beside her was another girl, who seemed to be the head girl of GCA press, which published weekly magazines within the inst.i.tute. Although, GCA press was headed by the staff of the high school, they pretty much depended on their students to gather some juicy gossip.
She was aware of Kate, but she only realized the head girl of GCA press by her badge. "h.e.l.lo, I am Kate, the deputy head girl of GCA's high school section. My cla.s.s fellows would like to take an interview from you for the purpose of the upcoming sports event." She then introduced the two girls beside her. "This is Samantha, the heard girl of GCA press. While this is Anna, she helps Samantha around with interviews."
Kate was quite formal with Emily. She had a solemn yet gentle expression. Her black hair tied up in a neat french braid. Her casual dressing made her look like a superior in high school. Samantha on the other hand wore a noticable amount of makeup, while her blonde hair were dropping over her shoulders. She really resembled Ivy somehow. Anna on the other hand seemed to be a shy and simple girl. She wore big gla.s.ses that almost covered her face, her hair tied in a messy bun with strands of hair tucked behind her ears. She held a notepad and a pen, eagerly waiting to write the interview.
"I just wanted to drop Samantha and Anna over here. I'll be going now. Bye." Kate quickly went away, minding her own business. Samantha rolled her eyes, "You must be Emily." Taken aback by her rude behavior, Emily maintained her calm posture, "Yes, I am." "I am Ivy's younger sister." Samantha stated proudly.
Hah, that explains her rude behavior!
"Whatever, let's just get over this. Have you partic.i.p.ated in this sports compet.i.tion before?" Samantha started her questions.
"No."
"What made you change your mind and try sports?"
"Well, basically, I wanted to concentrate on studies, but then I realized..."
"What games are you planning to play?"
What...?! Did she just cut me off? Rude!
"Actually I have not properly decided but I'm..."
"Do you think you'll obtain any positions?"
What the heck is wrong with her?! Emily quickly glanced at Anna, she just scribbled away. Even her face was showing clear signs of confusion and discomfort at Samantha's att.i.tude. Emily also started to lose her cool. She started to give answers sternly.
"Yes. I am really confident that I will achieve great positions."
Samantha smirked. Just what she she wanted the situation to be like.
"What are your thoughts and views about Ivy?"
"What are you trying to imply? She is just a normal student like everyone else."
Samantha smirked, now she could stir up some trouble for Emily, as per her sister's order. You tried to mess with my sister, now face the consequences! "You are just too impudent! I don't have time for such people like you. You should know, I am the head of GCA press, I came specially to take your interview, yet you mock me and ridicule my sister. Unacceptable!" Samantha exclaimed, vexed. "So what? I didn't invite you." Emily replied rigidly. Samantha was rendered speechless. So she just stormed off. Anna quickly followed behind, like a servant forced to obey a cruel master. Emily rolled her eyes and left college, scowling.
She reached her house, her mom opened the door for her. Without greeting she just entered inside. "Emily! Where are your manners?" Alicia said as she was upset. "Oh, sorry, mom! I was just in a bad mood. How are you?" Emily quickly regained her senses and asked politely, feeling guilty. Alicia smiled, "It's okay, I am fine. Why don't you go and change, while I make something for you. Then, maybe you would like to tell me what happened?" Emily nodded and quickly changed up and was sitting in the lounge. Alicia bought some freshly baked cookies and a cup of coffee for her. After gaining some energy, she told her mom each and everything that happened after college.
Alicia nodded and calmly explained, "There will always be obstacles in your life. You will always encounter someone who is jealous of you or does not like you, in every step of life. Don't waste your time and energy arguing with them. Only listen to them patiently, maybe you would be able to realize something from them. The more sad, angry or agitated you are, the happier your opponent becomes. As long as you know what you are doing is right, there is nothing to fear."
