Suddenly, she got an idea! She scribbled a few words. Read them over and over again for five minutes, before crus.h.i.+ng the paper and taking out a new one. Finally, she groaned and took out her phone and texted Linda about her 'serious' issue.
On the other end, Linda was writing pages and pages of the essay. Her hand worked non-stop. It had been twenty minutes since she had been writing the essay. Thousands and thousands of ideas and points were popping in her head. Finally, she stopped when she received a notification from her phone. Although she wanted to ignore it, seeing that it was Emily's message, she did not waste even a second and read it.
Reading the text about her 'serious' problem, Linda laughed out loud. She then informed her that she'll be coming over at her house so that they can write the essay together. Emily sighed in relief as she was getting help from a fas.h.i.+on expert, or at least for Emily, Linda was a fas.h.i.+on expert. While Emily was still using her remaining brain cells to at least come up with one sentence, the door behind her opened. Beside her mom, Linda was standing, holding her books and stationery.
Emily looked at her as if she had met her savior. She ran and hugged her tightly. Her mom was taken aback. Was writing an essay that hard? Alicia thought, smiling and shaking her head, she went away. "Woah! You can calm down. It's just an essay." Linda squeaked due to her immensely stiff hug. Emily laughed, "Sorry!"
Emily sat in front of her desk while Linda plopped on her bed right next to her desk. Linda was baffled by the over-loading trash can of crumpled papers. "You've been really working hard on it. I guess?" Linda asked meekly. Emily shrugged. "So… How much have you written?" She asked again, expecting her to have at least written a paragraph. Emily handed Linda her page. As soon as she looked at it, Linda startled. Except for the name of essay, nothing was written.
Emily sulked, but then she saw a stack of papers on Linda's lap. She s.n.a.t.c.hed it, flipping the pages in disbelief. "Are you sure you're writing an essay and not a novel?" Emily asked, her eyes open wide. Linda chuckled, "Haha. It's nothing. I can write twice as much!" Emily rolled her eyes and took out three sheets from the stack. "Hey! What are you doing?" Linda exclaimed. "Borrowing a few pages." She replied calmly, grinning. Linda was speechless, her mouth open wide in shock. Is Emily really that deceitful?!
Emily took out three consecutive sheets, the handed the rest back to Linda, smiling innocently as if she did nothing wrong. Linda sighed heavily, "Emily, this is the first and last time you are going to be doing this!" "Haha. Don't worry. It won't happen again, promise!" Emily responded joyfully. Linda shook her head, finally changing the topic by asking her about her first day of practice. "So how was your first day? Did you do anything? Are you tired? Who else was there? Did you meet Aiden? What did he say? Did he help you?" Linda fired the questions like bullets coming out of a gun simultaneously.
Emily just stared at her, flabbergasted. "Uhm… Yeah, it was great. Plus, today I met Cyril. He really is a nice person." As soon as Linda heard Cyril's name she started jumping up and down on the bed, "Oh my G.o.d! Oh my G.o.d! Oh my G.o.d! You actually met Cyril?!" Emily opened her mouth to speak, but closed it again. Thinking of what to say to this exhilarated girl. So… She was a fan of Cyril? Or is Cyril her crush? Both of them are pretty much the same thing for Emily.
Emily shook her head, almost laughing. "Can you please relax?" She asked politely. "Ah, yes, yes, yes! Sorry" Linda quickly replied, as she sat down crossing her legs, her green eyes filled with gusto. Emily exhaled deeply, "Yeah, I met him when he was doing archery. He also taught me how to do it. He's pretty good at it!" Linda squeaked. Emily raised her eyebrows, "Why?" Linda blushed, "He is my idol! He is so handsome, strong, talented, intelligent, simply amazing. Don't you like him?" Emily's eyes twitched, "Uhm… No?"
"What!!! Are you insane?!"
"Hold your horses! Let me speak… He actually is very nice and talented. But just as a friend!" Emily explained, feeling the atmosphere turn awkward. "Eeee! He is your friend?! Can I meet him? Please, please, please?" Linda asked nervously.
"Of course!"
"Ahh! You can take all of my essay sheets, I will write again! Take it as a thanks!" Linda said giving her the bundle of papers. "No, no, no, no! Just three pages are fine!" Emily replied and shoved the papers in back her hand. "Well, my work is done. We will meet tomorrow." Then she bid Linda farewell and closed the door behind her, sighing in relief.
