That day was the day she decided to grant Paul's request and she wanted to give him all of her. She blushed at the thought of it and at the same time scared too.
She was already prepared to go when she received a text message from Paul that their date needs to be cancelled because there was an emergency in the hotel that needs his immediate action and that he was so apologetic about it, yet she still understood him. She was even concerned what the emergency was all about but he never replied.
So not spoil her night, she still went out and spent the night with Liane who also needed some company that time. After they ate, Ingrid wanted to check on Paul and surprise him.
So they decided to go to the hotel his family owned. The staff did not know neither her nor their relations.h.i.+p because they both wanted it to be private or was it Paul's idea to be discreet. But then she decided to make herself known to the staff.
"Hi, I'm Ingrid Howard, Paul Keller's girlfriend. May I know which way to his office please?" she smiled while the two front desk staff froze in horror and then they both looked at each other.
"Is there something wrong?" her heart started to thump faster.
"Ahhh, Miss Ho-Howard, if you don't mind, I'll call our manager first." then she moved her gaze to the woman beside her and said "...kindly accompany Miss Howard and her companion to the VIP lounge, please? Miss Howard, I hope you don't mind waiting."
"No, I won't. I'll wait. Thank you." The receptionist took the phone and dialled the manager's number.
"Sis, I really have a bad feeling about this." Liane whispered as they walked to the VIP lounge.
As they sat, the woman who accompanied them seemed nervous and uneasy.
"Excuse me, but I was just curious, what's going on? Why do I have this eerie feeling that you're all hiding something?" Ingrid asked suspiciously but the woman has been instructed already not to divulge anything.
The gla.s.s door of the VIP lounge opened and there's a man in his forties appeared who seemed to be the manager.
"Good evening, ladies. How can I help you?" he smiled but never reached his eyes.
"Well, we – err – I'm here to see Paul, I'm Ingrid Howard, his girlfriend." The man was stunned for a moment and could not react.
"I'm sorry to inform you Miss, but Mr. Keller is engaged as of today and soon to be father. As a matter of fact, they're having an engagement party at–"
"He's engaged??! Are you kidding?" Liane reacted furiously.
"I'm sorry, but I'm not in the position to fool either of you." The man said as he lowered his head.
Ingrid fell into a trance while Liane was the one to react as she touched her forehead. "This is giving me some headache! I don't believe this! I don't believe you! We wanted to see if it's true. Where did they hold their engagement party?" Liane demanded.
"I'm sorry but it's an exclusive event, we couldn't allow anyone to randomly enter the hall–"
Liane calmed herself and pleaded.
"I Promise, we won't make a scene, we just wanted to know the truth. That's all. You see, my friend here has been fooled.." Liane tried her best to persuade the manager, "...and please I beg you allow us to just even take a look at it to be sure. I believe if you are on my shoe or my best friend's you'll also do the same." After much pleading, the manager consented and accompanied them to the hall.
Ingrid just followed them because her mind went blank and denied the occurrences around her.
When they entered the hall, their timing was perfect because Paul was a.s.sisting the woman to go to the stage. They both looked so happy and in love. Ingrid momentary look at the woman's belly and saw a little b.u.mp.
Paul and the woman were holding hands and he took the microphone from the emcee and spoke.
